    Tyre choice

If on the lower end of the scale, then Falken 453s. If on the upper end, MPSS. The MPSS will be cheaper in the long term though, due to how much longer they last. Coupled with amazing feel and class-leading grip in wet or dry, I see them as a no brainer.
  2. You need to chill about a bit Steve, that's some serious issues you've got going on there. Why you've felt the need to drag me into it I don't know, I've not disagreed with anything you've said in this thread, have I? I've not picked on you, had a pop at you, quoted you, argued with you or anything, so I feel a tad aggrieved that you've brought my name up in a disparaging manner. Granted, we don't always agree on things, but I didn't realise you thought that we were at loggerheads all the time: I never felt like that. I kinda see you in the same light at Docwra, in that we don't always agree on everything in the motoring world but I respect your opinion massively, and make a note to always read your posts as there's a lot of stuff I can learn from you. Sometimes I do state that people are outright wrong, but it's either that they clearly are (four seats into a 350), or in a joking way that I clearly don't mean (if anyone dares suggest that Curly Wurlys are anything other that amazing). I'm quite hurt you feel that way about me, I always thought we got on pretty well on here. My mistake. Anyway, TCS probably helps more people than it hinders, and common sense will always be more useful than a button on a dash.
  3. If you want to do it accurately, you'll need some expensive gear. First off, the tech inside a smartphone isn't sensitive enough, so you'll need a higher res GPS device to connect it with. You can then connect that to some software and away you go. Harry's Lap Timer is superb on iOS for this, and very well supported. On the other hand, you could just video your speedo and run it in slo-mo on your PC to get a pretty good idea of your time. Depends on what you want.
  4. Man, I know it's tough to park round there, but that's a bit extreme.
  5. The EA Vault will be for older games, at a guess 6-9 mths old, so no new stuff. It's still great value, and I'll probably get in on it too.
  6. Wow, I'd never noticed that before. Thanks for pointing it out!
  7. I've had it too, on a Walshy day where it was left on on purpose for that run.
  8. Assuming there's nothing wrong with the car, then if the TCS is being activated during normal driving then the driver needs to make smoother inputs. No real reason to either turn it off or leave it on really, it's all down to driver preference. Sometimes I turned mine off when I was in the mood for a more focused drive, sometimes I left it on when I wanted the Stupid Dan Safety Net on.
  9. Well, I enjoyed our mk1. Very light which made it ideal for nipping around town, sure it was gutless after 50mph but then they all are (look at the similar 0-60 times), and whilst it was hardly the last word in driving dynamics the fact that we lost very little over two years made it a veritable bargain. I never found any issue with the few Aygos I drove in terms of the gearshift. It was nicely positive, for what it is. If it was me I'd be buying something lightly used, a bit larger and pref with a diesel engine for a bit of torque (Clio/Corsa/Ka), but for brand new I think the Toyota is the way to go if you want to look at residuals. Plus, as I said the new one is uber-cool and makes up for the fact you're pootling around in a tin can
  10. I'd be looking at the Aygo too in that budget: Will almost certainly hold the value better, and the new one is a bit of a looker in the orange too
  11. Ummm... It looks like a Beetle?
  12. But ultimately slower Stripes have gone now any way
  13.
  14. That's because it's ridiculously expensive and not entirely well put together in places.
  15. I couldn't put it down, seriously fun game.
  16. ..........for a reason. Exclusivity Are they deliberately limiting stock then? I didn't realise that, my bad.
  17. Well, no actually. With all the different things you can muck around with on a DSLR, it's only as good as the person using it. If you have no idea what you're doing with it (like the OP sounds like, with all due respect) then you're just going to get really poor results. A decent point and click camera will yield better results than any DSLR in the hands of someone who can compose a good shot but has no idea what f-stops, depth of field and the like mean. What he really needs isn't the flashest whizziest DSLR he can find, as any of them are miles out of budget. A solid point and click with a good lens will do the job very nicely.
  18. ^^^ As above, anything like that will do. Just get one from the big two (Nikon or Canon) and you won't go far wrong. DSLR is miles overkill for simple shot. Tbh most smartphones have decent enough cameras these days, certainly the flagship Samsung/LG/Apple ones.
  19. Sorry, wasn't saying that anyone here in particular had said that Vettel was a bad driver. He's better than Ricciardo, of that I'm sure, it's just that he's struggling to adjust his driving style to the car more than most this year. That doesn't make him worse than DR, it's just that he prefers a particular kind of setup which the rules don't allow this year. No different from any other driver on the grid in that respect. I still say that Lewis, Alonso and Vettel are the three best drivers on the grid by some margin.
  20. Because pretty.
  21. It will never get better, and will at some point leave you stranded.
