  1. Have you spoken to your solicitor about this yet matey?
  2. Higher PSI at the front will give you understeer, so the front washes out before the rear turns in. WIll also have a massive amount to do with your alignment though as well, probably more so than the tyre pressures. I tend to agree with Alex though, you're not going to notice 1 PSI difference on one tyre so this is pretty much all in your head
  3. Never going to happen. McLaren are showing zero signs of progressing this season, so why would any of the big guns move there? Ferrari have a decent car apart from the engine, RB even more so and clearly Merc are significantly ahead.I've no doubt McLaren want all three of those drivers, but I can't see them moving. Unless they're shown the new Honda engine that's better than the Merc lump, of course...
  4. And that includes the subframe, bargain!
  5. I think that's being a bit obtuse on the subject really, however if you know the risks and are prepared to accept that then that's fair enough. There's the possibility of being faulty after having had thousands on pounds spent on R&D, tooling, manufacturing, QC etc and then there's the possibility of being faulty simply because they were made on the cheap.
  6. If I can get full evidence of why it was a Cat D, who repaired it and what they did, I would buy one. If not, I'm moving on.
  7. That's correct, they were asked to not sell them on here for safety issues. FWIW I agreed with the decision then, and I think it's still a very valid point. In an impact, you really do not want things like that snapping and either moving you around the cabin or penetrating you (fnar) with sharp pieces of plastic and metal. Personally, I would not be fitting fakes to my car unless they'd undergone some testing.
  8. If some guy offered to take my other half for a blat in a Gallardo, I'd be really angry if she didn't leap at the chance.
  9. Has he gone yet? God I really hope he's gone. I'm going to start a thread that goes like "My mate Geoff who is a world champion astronauteer has built a 27L Astra VXR but I can't post pics because, like, I'm too cool and obvs I'm far too busy with running Google on an ad-hoc basis to do that anyway". Anyone interested in that one?
  10. Basically, it means the flexi joint on the exhaust is shot and needs replacing. Cut it out, weld a new one in, job's a carrot. Sub-£100 easy from anywhere, really you shouldn't be paying any more than £50 but it does depend on the garage. Get the seller to fix before buying, or haggle a good £500 off for the ballache of getting it sorted yourself.
  11. Oh god without even trying.
  12. Jack the car up and spin the wheels that side, see if you can replicate the noise manually.
  13. Every day is a school day!
  14. Primary school prom??!! FFS. Good on you mate, sounds like the kids really enjoyed themselves I try and be as open with my cars as I can with the local neighbourhood kids, hopefully try and get them interested in fun cars at an early age
  15. FWIW, that's a great advert. Yes, the car does get driven hard, but make no mistake the owner does not scrimp on maintenance. A great car, and a fair price. Good luck with the sale bud, this deserves a good home after the work you've put I to it
  16. More 1stWPs: I can't get comfy on the new sun loungers by the pool
  17. Scoobies are a hoot on track, but they're always the first car parked up in the paddock on a TD. Apart from a Noble, of course. Coldel wins this with his VX suggestion. Nothing else comes close if you want a quick track car for that money, BUT be aware that one prang could write it off easily. Completely biased, but this would be fun: MR2 mk3 £1500 Suspension £600 Brakes £300 Hardtop £500 Bracing £200 Turbo kit £4000 Seats, harnesses £600 R888s £500 That's £8300, so room to allow for fitting of parts as well if you like. My suggestion includes a set of tyres, too
  18. Why would you not use photo sites? Are you worried that you might accidentally upload those pics of you in your wife's scanties that you only put on 'for a laugh, honest!'? The rules are not massively complex, and ultimately they benefit both seller and buyer. If someone can't be arsed to take a photo of their product, then I can't be arsed giving them my money.
  19. Not good mate, I was off the road for three months the other year following a back operation, I feel your pain.
  20. Swinging club, more like. Allegedly. Ahem.
  21. A sheep? Madness.

    Tyres

Michelin really ballsed the naming convention up on the Pilot Sports. First you had the original Pilot Sports, which were good. Then you had the Pilot Sport 2s, which were exceptional. They then quickly dropped the original tyres, and then stopped putting the '2' on the MPS2 which just confused everyone trying to order a new pair. Then they started trading on the good name of the MPS2, and brought out the MPS3. These were available in much smaller sizes, and aimed at the lower priced car market. They were still good, but they weren't MPS2 good. Then came the MPSS, which are just about the best road tyre you can get today bar none. Miles better than anything else with the PS name, but have zero relation to the still-going MPS2 and MPS3 in anything other than name.
  23. No contest, MR2 over any Civic if you want something that handles beautifully and doesn't want to understeer all the time I've got mine setup now so I can fling it in as quick as I could my old VXR220, it's just massively lacking on power comparatively. With the right setup, it can be made to feel very similar to an Elise-chassis car, just without that fantastic steering. Don't get me wrong, it's great in the MR2, it's just that the Elise is that step better due to no assistance on the rack.
