  1. On a 350Z, they're not for me. They just look anywhere from odd to downright chav-central. Angel eye-style ones would be as close to acceptable as I'd get. Only in white, though!

    Not a vampire, then?
  3. £10 says he won't send it via that way. Or at least, he won't if he's got any sense, because I wouldn't sell an engine to a stranger across the water who could just claim it's broken when they botch the install. Not saying you will, of course, but he has to cover himself as well if he's genuine. Look, buying that engine is a total gamble, it's 50/50 as Grundy said, if you want it then get it but don't expect anyone here to agree with you.
  4. Looks like a p*ssing contest to me. "Hey, look at how much I spent on my car! Look how many horses I now have!" I dunno, I'm just being a pessimistic arse like always, I'm sure it could be good given time. I prefer the back and forth of forums though, personally.

I reckon there's two ways to drive the Ring: 1. Don't look at any videos more than you normally would. Drive it as a quick country road that you don't know. 2. Play as much Forza/GT as you can, learn the lines as best you can, take notes of the corners and stick them to your dash. Go uber prepared, but try not to expect too much from yourself. Common sense says always do the first one. I did the second one on my first go there! I'm glad I did, I found myself so much more prepared than the guy I went with who had to follow me all day. That said, I'd had a fair amount of track experience beforehand so was mentally prepared for the drive as much as anything, and it was a proper trackday there too. If you've never driven on track before, I'd say that doing the second option like me isn't a great idea. False confidence and all that. Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have fun which is the most important thing. Try not to lose any sleep over losing your house if you have a crash though

Tip No.1: Remember you're not insured. Tip No 2: Mind the bikes! Tip No 3: The Pistenklause restaurant MUST be experienced for the food! It's in the Hotel am Tiergarten. I normally use the Eurotunnel these days, so much easier than faffing about on a ferry.
  7. PCars reviews going up now, 85-87 on Metacritic between PC and PS4 versions so far.
  8. Dan'll Fix It! No wait, that's not a tag line I want to be associated with these days...
  9. You're just waiting for one of us to say go for it, aren't you? Every one else has said that you shouldn't buy this Irish engine but you're still persisting with it, so I think you're going to keep going until you get the answer you want. Seriously, just don't. You have too much risk here, and the colour change is setting alarm bells off for me.
  10. You've clicked something else on that column, so you're filtering your results too much.
  11. Custard test, or similar. You need a cast-iron contract in UK law that allows you recompense if anything is wrong with the engine. I'd want his address and proof that it's his address too, so worst come to the worst you can fly over and deliver the court papers personally. Or, for the same money, you can get the valve seals done by a legit company in this country which will solve your problem. I know which I'd be doing.
  12. ^^^This.
  13. If you remove weight from either end, you'll increase understeer/oversteer. Less weight over the front wheels means a reduced amount of mass pushing down on the wheels, which in turn can lead to understeer. It's why I tended to run the 911 with a full tank, and why I leave the spare wheel in the frunk on the MR2 on a wet track day. Not saying it'll be a massive issue on yours, and in general removing any weight is usually a good thing, I just didn't know if you were going to increase your toe out settings to compensate, or move other stuff around.
  14. Are you worried about the increase in understeer at all?
  15. When is it? I assume Thursday, since that's when the rest of the world gets it.
  16. Not since the cucumber incident, he won't. Poor Grundy couldn't sit for a week
  17. Exactly. When you step outside of the corporate "The customer is always right, even when they're wrong!" mindset in business, you take a massive gamble. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but if you can make it work then you're pretty much set for life as people always remember a character. Now, I'm being a tad hypocritical here as I've had a pop at Greg before when he first joined up and bit back, but since then he seems to have developed the knack for being able to defend himself and his way of doing things with humour, as well as a sly dig. Sometimes it'll work, sometimes it won't. I'd rather deal with someone with personality than another generic holier than thou attitude (see: J17), but it's not for everyone.

  19. I like it. I like it when people deal in the real world, where sometimes the customer can be a bit awkward. As always, I suspect the truth lies very much between the two stories, but if nothing else Greg is always entertaining.

  22. I had my Zed for less than half the time I've been on here, still not gone yet! :lol I stay for the people, too many good friends on here to go. Great place
  23. Pfft, you're all too late. Barges with big engines are the new cool round this place.
  24. The more I read Greg's posts, the more I like him. I'd buy a car off you, Greg.
  25. Given the relative price now, MPSS is the sensible choice as you'll get more miles out of them per £ spent. That said, if you don't have the cash at all, then the FK453 aren't the world's worst tyres either. Not a patch on the F1 or MPSS, but they're decent enough and at least they'll match.
