What would make you do anot organised trip over just doing a trip with freinds Exclusive visits, cheaper hotels. What would be an ideal amount of days for a trip Depends on price, but 7-10 days tops. What sort of money would you like/expect to pay for said trip Like? £3.56. Expect? For crossings and hotels, £700-£1000 depending on length and quality. What would you like/expect to get from your trip for your money Roads/trips that aren't on every other schedule, i.e. forget the Stelvio, the Ring etc. How many hours a day would you prefer to drive As many as possible, if it's a driving holiday so 6-8 hours. If a holiday with wimmins then probably 3-5 a day. How many cars would you like to be on the trip 6-8 tops.

Bargain is relative, look at what you're getting for your money and then see how much you'd have to pay to get that elsewhere. GT-R will wee all over a 997.1 Turbo, which are still around £65K, so for half that price to go faster? Yup, I'd call that a bargain. Same way I called the Murci in the first post a bargain, as if you want a manual mid-engined V12 supercar you'd need to get an F50 for half a million quid.

But you could say the same about a BMW. Given you can buy something faster for cheaper, I don't see the R8 as a bargain. It's a great car and if it had had more storage space I'd have bought one, but it's not a bargain.

You cannot legally tow with the Zed in the UK. The US have very lax laws on stuff like that, so they can get away with it. Please don't try it over here, it's asking for trouble. And make sure you're old enough for grandfather's rights, or have passed the separate test before towing anything. I missed out by 2 months

You need to measure them. Porsche don't often lie with stuff like that, as it's very easy to catch them out if they were. Which OPC? Porsche discs rarely last beyond 40k. Mine were 60% worn at 45k miles, but I'm a VERY light braker. £980 from OPC is a bit much, I'd be looking elsewhere I think. Even if you stick with OEM for the warranty, anyone can fit them for you, it's not a difficult job.

R8 is no quicker than a 911, so I discounted that on the basis that a 911 is cheaper. Would've been a bit obvious for me to pick it though! Early GT-R for £30K, I'm with you 100% on that. Masses of bang for your buck.

Sell your ragtop, buy an auto for the missus, then buy a coupe for the track slag.

Idea stolen from me on another thread So what's the best bargain in motoring right now then? Let's play fast and loose with the rules, so let's do realistic purchases as well as daft ones. I'll start with a couple, and the obvious one first: 987 Cayman S. £45K when new, down to around £15K now, and that gets you a proper mid-engined coupe with a great chassis, and an exotic flat six engine. Bags of power for the road or track, and a badge you wouldn't mind showing off when you chuck your car keys in the bowl at special parties. For normal folks with a sensible budget looking for a weekend car, I don't think there's much better. For a little more cash (!), how about something like this Lambo Murci? A V12 engine wrapped in a stunning aggressive shape, with a proper manual 'box for less than £100K. It's modern oily bits will last much longer than the Lambos of old, but they've still got all the character from before the German's purchase. Over 200mph in a supercar, what more could you ask for? That's a proper bargain, that is.

Yeah yeah yeah How do you find moving from a ball type shifter to a lever type? I don't actually prefer one over the other myself, I've found it very much depends on the application. I've got a rounded M Sport one in the BMW, but run a custom brass lever one in the MR2. Does feel weird going from one to the other!

I ran the Exedy kit on mine, supplied by Zmanalex IIRC. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that kit, and I'm quite fussy. Then again, the Xtreme stuff has pretty good reviews too, so I'd be happy with either. Definitely go for a single mass flywheel though, the gains are so much more than they sound like they'll be. Free horsepower and a better revving engine, who could ask for more?
