Still here chaps! Been a bit quiet today as the fever has been spiking and the hallucinations were getting a bit silly at times, so I stopped morphine and concentrated on sleep. Hurt like hell when I woke up, but at least I wasn't talking to the desk or pushing StevoD's head away as it blocked my iPad, despite Stevo being at work in Cambridge all day... Saw the consultant, not looking promising. The infection needs to disappear asap so I can get the op in in time, atm it's not even starting to get better yet so we'll see. Bit of a downer tbh, so no jokes today.

You won't get a genuine Huracan coupe for £150k, unless it's a crap colour with a poor spec. And I don't think people realise how BIG these cars are on the roads, you'd struggle to do the better roads in Scotland and Wales, for example.

A 458 would be bottom of the market at that price, plus I'd want the Spider. So no Fezza. A 991 Turbo would be staggering performance, but 4WD? No thanks. So no Gallardo or R8 either. 540/570 are too ugly, and you won't get many options for your £150k so nope. I'd want something that made me feel special, but that I felt comfortable spanking the arse off of. If we're assuming this isn't a lottery win so I can't replace it the next day if I bin it, then I'm going to pick one car that's track friendly but not road unfriendly, it has to make a nice noise, and it has to be affordable to run. Must be showy without being flash, must be premium but not poncy. Above all, it must reward as a driver. ONE CAR CHOICE 991.1 GT3, in Racing Yellow. On the basis you cannot buy a 991.2 GT3 even if you have the cash, I'll take the earlier car. 9k rpm, 475bhp, flappy paddles but at least I know I like flappy paddles in 911s, and it would have to be the Clubsport model. Available from about £135k. TWO CAR CHOICE Exige Sport 380. For me a track car must always have the option of a roof, and Lotus make the best tin-topped track cars so here you go. I've never drive of these, however we all know it's bloody superb. £70k I reckon with options plus a haggle. 997.2 GTS, in Basalt Black. 2WD manual option. Still the best car I've ever owned, and for the road I don't need anything else. Perfect size, balance, weight, power, seats. The one car that does it all, I would find room for again in my collection. Truth be told I'd buy it again tomorrow if I had £60k spare.

Suzanne the LS3 6.2 V8! Caution very long build thread....

Is the LS3 not better than the LS1? -
00' Supercar - Enzo or CGT. Enzo becaise it was flappy paddle, CGT because manual! 00' Everyday hero - Megane RS 225

Super-sticky semi slicks? Yes, I agree. But we're just talking about regular road tyres. In no way would a car on equivalents from Michelin and Avon be having any less fun on the Avons. They'd just be going slower on more rubbish tyres

Hope so! I've done the Pyramids as a very young kid, like 12 or so, maybe younger. I was too young to appreciate it all, sadly

Nah, no point if you can get the 4S. It'd be like fitting an LS1 when you've got the option of an LS3 í ½í¸‰ -
Hot hatch: VW Golf GTi, mk2. Just pips the original as it was muchly the same car, just that little bit better and more iconic in every aspect. Lightweight road/track toy: Lotus 7. It'll always be better and purer than the Elise, plus the Lotus is the original where he really did just add lightness. Nearly went for Supra over R34, but just couldn't bring myself to. I'd rather own the Supra, but out of the two I'd give it to the Datsun.

18 or 19? -
Be it new or historical, some cars can or will always be *the* car that manufactures want to beat, or which fans consider to be the ultimate example. I'll start off, add your own categories or change mine, if you think you've got a better reason '80s Supercar: Ferrari F40. First to top 200mph, reputation as tough to drive, carbon everywhere. Modern Premium Sports Coupe: Porsche 911, regular Carrera S. Classic lines, practical, easy to drive t a challenge to master. '90s Japanese Tuner Car: R34 GT-R. Definitive version of the PlayStation generation car. I don't even really like no1 or no2, but they're the Definitives..

Actually, we should start a new thread based on this: Gimme a sec...

956 and 962 saw the DCT before Audi. I don't get how someone so competent to do their own setup on their cars (hell, I couldn't which is why i take it to places like CG!) can't understand the huge differences between comparable tyres in the Avon and Michelin ranges, for example.

I was gonna say, in your life mate you've def done enough adventuring to put us all to shame! Did you ever spend any time out there?
-
Absolutely agree. Same reason that locking wheel nuts are awful things.
-
Any figure out if that's lovely or horrific Col Think I rather like it though. Easy to do?

If I would say one thing to anyone, just avoid Pirellis like the plague. There is nothing they do that is not beaten by every other competitor. Horrible tyres. So which 996/997 did you have, Alpinaman? Gearbox? Who did your setup? As Docwra says, it's a good job they didn't invent the dual clutch gearbox, or have the most successful racing engine of all time, and the most successful racing chassis, and are class leading in bring RWS back to the masses, or ensuring that performance cars fans still have manual 'boxes to look forward to, or in the days of downsizing turbo lumps are still offering 9000rpm 500bhp 4L NA engines. So what was so bad about the 996 that made you go and buy a 997? Oh man, look I admit I have a hardon for Porsche's but they are bloody good cars. The 718 just have a dull engine but I've not driven the manual nor a PSE equipped one yet, and in terms of pure fun I found the 991.2 C2S to be a match for a 458. Or course I'd pick the Fezza out of the two, but it costs twice as much.

I suspect the latter, funny how everyone's does that

Great snaps guys, thanks! I mean, if anyone else would maybe be interested in this next year then speak up, doesn't hold you to anything and a nice group car trip could be the ultimate non road trip I feel like, by saying it out that, that I've mentally committed myself. I WILL do this, not just try, but I WILL achieve it. I'm still young enough-ish that my body can take it, and I just want to do something different. Something that takes as much will power as anything. And, as those that were here four years again when I did my drive to Gibraltar in the 911 May remember, I've had my own demons with mountains before it would be nice to stick two fingers up at

Just did a FaceTime with my cats, I feel happier now. Gotta ring insurer this morning to confirm I can stay past today, just a formality. I hope

I don't get running at all. Just holds no appeal, indoors or outdoors. No idea why, wish I did as it's a go-anywhere hobby and a very social one.
-
Get better wheels. These wheels weigh a ton, you'll kill the handling of the car along with accel and braking. By all means use them as a temporary get around until your better wheels come though.

LC means nothing, they've tested both LC at the bottom of the run and rolling start taking the corner as quick as possible, makes no difference if Veyron or FlF or GT-R. What size and type of tyres you running? I still reckon once you get past 1st you'd be fine, quite easy to get hooked up there.
