  1. Well obviously don't do it near your neighbours! Take it to a local industrial park, no-one will give a damn then. Looking at those figures though you'll be a mile under, so no worries there.
  2. What bit? The echo makes a huge difference, I've tried it myself to prove it. Also what settings are you using on the meter? Needs to be A and Fast if my memory serves correctly.
  3. Oooh, so close... Look at where you're measuring, right by a wall: That's going to reflect the sound and give a false reading. Also the tape is going to rattle around as well if it's touching the exhaust, possibly making excess noises as well (quieter than the exhaust certainly, but of a different frequency that it could make a difference). Go and park in the road or in an open industrial estate of something, hold the sound meter and tape measure in your hand and try again. Unless you're silly tall or silly short, then that will be close enough to 45deg and is how every single trackday company I've ever been with does it too.
  4. Whilst I do agree with you on that, really you should be glancing at your instruments every few seconds or so anyway to check for things like temps and warning lights. I'm not saying everyone does, but they should. I try to look every 4-5 secs and chastise myself when I realise it's been longer than that.
  5. Cars are much better, but 99% of the people behind the wheel are useless. I can name just one person out of my family and friends who I consider to have the necessary skill set to be able to drive on the roads at a faster speed, going on how well I know them and having witnessed their driving style up close. Go to the IoM and see just what it's like driving on UK-style roads with no limits, it's absolutely beautiful when every one around is used to it. Locals will actually pull over to let you pass, and the roads have far less signage so you're made to think about what's going on around you.
  6. If you're daft enough to be goaded into street racing you get everything you deserve IMHO. I have precious little time for people who use their car as a penis extension (or addition!) and try to prove anything at all to anyone else on the roads, at best it's ill-judged and at worse downright dangerous.
  7. Bigger wheels = more unsprung mass = significantly slower car in a straight line
  8. Correct. You can use anything though, tape measure, bit of wood, whatever is laying around really.
  9. Completely wrong measuring, I'm afraid You need to be measuring from 0.5m away at 45degrees.
  10. Bin them all, get the Ultrac Sessantas or Pilot Sport 2s. You've spent good money on the car, don't scrimp on the tyres now, they're the most important part of the drive. Also don't drive it with those small tyres on the back, you're asking for trouble if you do.
  11. Not asking too much, just a bit unnecessary IMHO. There must be a decent place near you someone local can recommend?
  12. It's only a clutch, the Zed is nothing special so any decent garage will be fine either here or in Germany.
  13. I'd rather have a door full of dents than that thing. Same goes for those god-awful car-bras.
  14. Or you could get a Roadster and have the best of both worlds
  15. Satnav by far. That said, on my old VXR220 the speedo was exact with the satnav, so Vauxhall/Lotus obviously have a lot of faith in their faux-Stack dash.
  16. As said, do not mix tyres full stop.
  17. Look at your speedo. If she was doing 31 then her speedo wouldve been reading about 34-35, which you can easily see. I do agree that's a bit harsh though, camera or plod? And it's only four years, not five.
  18. You drive a Datsun, are thinking about a BMW and you're worried about image??!! Man up, drive something that's fun and forget what every other ignorant sod says about your car
  19. Ekona

    Which tyre?

RE050s are some of the best tyres you can put on the Zed, stick with them and don't downgrade to the Falkens
  20. So you're in a shed of car with crap brakes and thought it would be a good idea to do 80mph?! They don't have to allow anything. Speeding is a strict liability offence.
  21. I genuinely can't understand why people still speed these days, it's really not worth it.
  22. Guys, if your inserts are too tight just do what I did and grind the lip off of them: They fit in perfectly and easily then.
