Dude - i fully agree with you... They're almost as gay as Mini's. But then it doesnt matter what it looks like if it drives well on track I wouldn't drive it in public, and would be stripping it and making it track ready. And its different enough to keep it interesting. Would MX-5's be difficult to control if you're over 5'2''? When I borrowed my Mum's (not a good start) I struggled to get in it and move the wheel without hitting my knees

What noise do the drop links make when they start to go? I had Phil grease something up last time I went to stop a noise, but it's started again. Can't remeber what it was, but think it might have been drop links. . .

From what I've seen, the fuses don't really correlate to anything in particular - wouldn't fancy sorting out the wiring on the Zed! I had some dash problems the other week after I was messing around, and in the end I did a manual ECU reset by unplugging the battery for around 10 minutes. Everything worked fine after that. Always worth a go. I'm assuming it isn't icy in Bournemouth?

We're at least a bit more subtle here (except 3fiddy ) Back on topic, I agree with rtbiscuit (unless I had £3k spare for MOTEC). I was quoted £1300 for fitting AEM and tuning, but would have to source a harness myself. There's a group buy for the Haltech Platinum with tuning for £1300 on this site at moment. And it's £1500 if you find the right tuner anyway without the group buy. I'd rather save up and get the Haltech personally, even if it took a while.

The clutch is trickier as it feels the car just wants to pull and pull. You can drive it like normal after getting used to it, but it is obvious to anyone trying to use the car that you have a sports clutch. Makes hill starts harder to. I will end up sticking FI on my car if I keep it long enough, so thought I should get a decent clutch for when I do. If I didn't plan to do this, I'd choose a clutch which is a bit more subtle. Adam will prob be able to put you in the right direction here.

Have you been speaking to TDi North? I chekced up on this after they suggested it. In short, the AEM is fine if you have no other option, but the Haltech is much better and more suited for the Zed. I got the ACT pro light flywheel and ACT 6 puck sprung hub clutch. Flywheel is quiet, and the clutch is tricky to get used to at first.
