  1. What was wrong with the old ones? Just asking as I considered replacing mine at one point but all they needed was a refurb (done by the boyfriend).
  2. My last job did various rounds of voluntary redundancy. I didn't know what was going to happen to me in a restructure which was a couple of years down the line but as an independent person living on my own, one wage, mortgage etc I decided I needed to look around for another job. I got offered a new job on higher pay but I fell between two windows of opportunity for voluntary redundancy and because I was out by literally a couple of weeks I didn't get it after 13 years in the job! I've more than made up for it now as I'm on about £10k more now than I was but another person in a similar situation to me went to work in a job with the Police and she just booked herself onto the latest start date she could with them which was easy to do as they don't want immediate starts and book people onto training courses. She just kept her mouth shut and got the money.
  3. As the title says - out at Sherburn in Elmet on the bike and saw a black 350 leaving late in the afternoon and also a green 240z which really caught my eye.
  4. Obviously I have no idea what you are talking about...
  5. Barton bike night last night - thousands there and a great evening. Saw a GM (or could have been silver) 04 plate drive past a couple of times but also saw a black one with a huge yellow 'FAKE TAXI' sticker across the back window..........
  6. I gave up obsessing about the whole depreciation thing a long long time ago, it can drive you insane! I lease my daily driver now and will probably never buy a car again.
  7. I decided a while ago to keep mine indefinitely now. I've been through so may cars through the years trying to get better or faster etc until I got to the position where I realised unless I come into some money I'm never going to get anything better than the zed. It's in great nick, still looks stunning and I've had it since 2007. It's now garaged and its done less than 2k in the last year. I've got to the point where I don't care what it's worth because it will always be worth more to me than it is on paper because of the way it's been cared for.
  8. Yes I was thinking the same actually!
  9. I have an old cat too that doesn't leave the garden - I don't mind getting rid of hers but other cats' poops make me want to puke! It must be like only being able to change your own kids nappy!
  10. I have the same problem - right outside my door I have a small area of soil with shrubs in and three small outside lights. It has been so vigorous in trying to bury it, it has actually smashed one of the lights! I do like cats but it's not something I want to be greeted by when I open my front door. You can buy stuff from B&Q to sprinkle on the garden which I was going to try but I might give the pepper a go!
  11. I think it's definitely mainly a man thing...... I hate huge TV's on the living room wall I think they ruin the room. Other places aren't too bad I suppose. I personally would have it in a cupboard and only open it when it was used! My o/h has a huge 50 something on his living room wall and it looks horrific in my opinion. This also reminds me of a discussion we had a week ago which started with "I can't live with the colour of my bike.........." having just spent god knows how much on it he now wants it carbon. I think I may have mentioned all the things we haven't done this year due to funds........yet his bike is a modders bottomless pit......... You should change the title of this thread to "My Missus is perfectly normal!"
  12. number plate looks like it may say cloud........no help whatsoever
  13. I'm just up the road - Market Weighton. Seen another sunset with a nismo rear spoiler in Beverley now and then - is that you?
  14. I'm sure it can be done, just ask Geraghty250000000000000 - I mean Tarmac.......
  15. Went for a ride out on the GSXR to Willingham Woods Bikers Cafe yesterday which is just outside of Market Rasen in Lincolnshire. Spotted Guy Martin's dad who had turned up in an MGB GT and had his grandson with him wandering round with an ice cream looking at the bikes. Stopped to speak to him - really nice guy, told us that Guy had just flown out to Canada that day to do a challenge of riding a mountain bike from Canada to New Mexico in an unaided race, hence not being in this year's TT. Also spotted a black zed parked up there, can't remember the year but it had a black Z badge on the back and a stubby. Long may the warm weather last (but it probably won't........)
  16. Had mine done twice now over the years, once by a detailer and once by the other half, they are starting to look like they will need doing again soon!
  17. Hi how are you? Yes I have! Have you? Don't drive it often, it's more of a pet now!
  18. Spotted an azure being filled up in Bridlington yesterday - I was travelling by on a rather loud GSXR - I get to spot all sorts while sitting like a meerkat on the back! Had previously seen a silver on the beach front at Scarborough.

    Limp mode!

Ah, mine's never done it while starting up just when accelerating from very slow or standstill. All the dash lights come on as well including the traction control/slip light. It's quite unnerving! Let me know how you get on.
  20. I've had some major issues with sleep in the last few months, mainly to do with work stress etc. I got to sleep ok but was waking up five or six times a night and then the brain would kick in and not switch off. Eventually I went to the doctors as I couldn't stand it any longer and was like a zombie. She prescribed me Phenergan which is actually available over the counter and is a first generation antihistamine. It makes you so drowsy they now use it for sedation and people afraid of flying, those kind of things. I worked brilliantly and I took it every day an hour or so before bed for a few weeks and got back into a good sleeping routine. I would still wake up a little in the night which is normal, everyone does but would just go straight back to sleep instead of sparking to life. I don't take it now. Something else I can highly recommend is the relaxation apps by Andrew Johnson. There are free versions available on Itunes. I do a 15 minute relaxation quietly on my phone at bedtime and I just drift off while it's on. There's also a good breathing exercise one which helps with anxiety. Honestly it really works - even if it's just because you're focused on that rather than letting your mind tick. I use it now instead of having to watch tv while I'm in bed and then waking up again to switch it off. Give it a go.
  21. I get this too and I'm 5ft6! It goes straight across my neck. I was given some padded covers that go over my seat belt by another member on here when he sold his zed. They work reasonably well. They have 350z logo on them.

    Limp mode!

A similar thing has happened to me four times in total. Twice when accelerating out of a roundabout and twice when pulling out of junctions. Went into limp mode and then when I turned the ignition off and on again it was fine. I haven't investigated it yet because it's a 'fair weather' car and does hardly any miles. I'm guessing if I actually drove it regularly it would have happened more often but I've only drive it half a dozen times this year. I'm planning on getting it looked at during its next service. However when I was looking into it I found this info which may help http://www.aftermarketonline.net/Technical/2013/29443-/Nissan-350Z-Intermittent-Fault
  23. Great to see Neil's baby staying in the fold!
  24. I was expecting far worse - you're lucky really, I knew of someone several years ago who hit a deer on a motorway and was killed after getting out of their car and being hit by someone else. Hope you get it sorted.
  25. Did anybody else watch 'The Extraordinary Case of Alex Lewis' last night on Channel 4? This was one of the most awe inspiring things I have ever seen. If you haven't seen it I recommend you watch it on catch up. It makes you forget all about your mundane problems and really bumps you back to reality. Amazing bloke and such a tragedy that he cannot get what he needs from the NHS. If he'd been in an accident then presumably insurers would foot the bill but as this was an illness he has to raise the cash himself. Truly amazing couple. http://www.telegraph...ly-consoling-v/ http://www.alex-lewis.co.uk/
