  1. Posted this on the facebook page at the time of spotting yesterday. Red 350z at Vanguard in York - turned out he was getting Costa at the same time I was! Red with a black (Nismo?) spoiler. Pretty sure it had a mountain bike in the boot which was part open and secured via the spoiler - good effort! Hope you enjoyed the coffee!
  2. It's easy to say Christmas is just another day, but for people who are lonely it is one of the most awful days of the year. Last year my friend died, and as she knew she may not be around at Christmas her dying wish was for me to make sure her husband was not alone at Christmas. I felt like it was a burden she had left me with, my friendship was with her and not him, but he was on his own and so that's what we did! In fact we went to his house for Christmas dinner. I have experienced a minute version of the loneliness that you feel, when I got divorced, moved, changed job and my parents lived abroad, all at the same time. I used to dread weekends and sometimes I spent all weekend without moving off the sofa, so I can't imagine what it would be like without my parents and friends etc. But life does go on - you will survive, you will meet someone else, you will be happy eventually and you will put all this behind you. It may take longer than you think but you will get there.
  3. I drove from York to London without seeing a single zed. That's why I like it.
  4. As above - my zed was the first ever imported by Jurgen in 2007! Faultless and seamless process right down to my private plate being fitted already when I collected it. He also arranged a leather re-trim for the seats. I am an absolute detail freak and over analyse everything - I researched Jurgen at the time via the Supra forums which is where he was most well known back then and I got great feedback which is why I used him. He has come a long long way since then! I would only ever consider using Jurgen if I imported again.
  5. Noticed its Marks birthday. Lovely lad who was much liked here and whom members helped keep his car running when he was too ill to drive. RIP sparky.
  6. Spotted the zed straight away - epic TV. I love Guy Martin.
  7. Amazing pictures - looks very Bollywood!
  8. About three years ago I got up one morning and two of the lawns were covered in mole hills. Fortunately for me a few days later one of my cats presented me with the mole! They usually eat their catch but moles are clearly too tough! It has taken a huge amount of time for the lawn to recover and it's only just about sorted out now. My other half reckons you should save up urine and pour it down the holes! I have never heard that one before or tried it but let us know if you do and it works...........
  9. I could do with an idiots guide really. Whilst I'm sure the forums are great, they do use quite a bit of technobabble. I quite like technology so I've managed to find my way around it and have lots of addons like Exodus, SALTS etc but I'm the sort of person that likes to actually understand a bit more about it. I can't get Phoenix to work for example - it gets as far as 50% when getting a source then just flicks off. I had a similar problem with Exodus and Salts but discovered I could extend the timeout on those and now they are fine. I need a 'for dummies' book!
  10. I discovered Zemtv after a bit of googling at the weekend and watched MotoGP uninterrupted on Sunday (my internet connection is not the best). Good find!
  11. I have just bought an android tv box and currently getting to grips with it. It's a minefield! Managing to use it ok so far but it's more by trial and error. Got a couple of issues and wondered if we had any experts on here? I did manage to stream MotoGP on Sunday which was a success!

    Kit Cars

It's not really about looks - the kit cars all look pretty similar based on the Lotus 7 look. It's the fun factor really, that's all.

I know what you're saying but the thought of being a learner again and putting myself through all that is really off putting.

Thanks for the input - the thought of selling the zed is the hardest decision, it's like a pet after 9 years! I don't want a convertible zed I actually prefer the coupes (no offence). It's just that with my lifestyle and the fact we've got between us a daily car, a zed, a van, a motorbike I just don't drive it, it's like an ornament in the garage. I'm more into the bike nowadays and thought that a kit car has the same kind of appeal to me as I don't really want to do my bike licence. If I had a big enough garage I would probably have both! I will PM Keyser and see what his experience was. Cheers.

Lots more money! We've been considering building one with a hyabusa engine but you can throw thousands at it that you will never get back so I'm looking at one that someone else has already thrown thousands at that they will never get back!

I've had the zed 9 years and since taking up perching on the back of a modified GSXR 1000 I hardly ever use it. A sunny day comes along and we're off on the bike. It hasn't been my daily driver for about 6 years and it's in the garage the majority of time. I decided to keep it forever as the condition it's in makes it worth more to me than I would get for it. However, I'm now thinking of perhaps getting something on four wheels that provides me with similar fun as going out on the bike and with me driving (I don't have a bike licence). I saw a MNR Vortx yesterday with an R1 engine in it and really liked the look of it. For me keeping something like that in the garage as a 'toy' makes more sense but I have no experience at all of these. My other half is an engineering genius with lots of contacts so I'm not worried about that side of it. I've seen some with bike engines and some with ford zetec engines (the downside to a car engine being no sequential gearbox but the upside being you get reverse). Anyone got experience in this area?
  17. Tiny writing! She must eat a lot of carrots!
  18. I have been looking into getting Netflix but would need to upgrade my TV first as it's not a smart TV. I'm also not sure on what kind of download/upload speed I would need to have on my broadband. Currently watching Better Call Saul - the Breaking Bad spin off, and really enjoying it. My other fave which has now finished was Penny Dreadful.
  19. That picture where the guy is wheeling his bike out looks good but it's around the back and so not really impacting on the look at the front of the house. I don't think I'd want that on show at the front. I'm sure there's a few different things I could consider, perhaps I could get something at the other side of the fence if I could create access to it - maybe through the existing garage. Anyway food for thought and thanks for the advice!
  20. ha i used to live in Weighton too....well good chippy on main street lol.im in acomb at the moment but travel up your way quite often as the gf has family in barmby moor I have family from Acomb and I used to live in Barmby Moor! Spooky! Will look out for you in the area!
  21. I'm in Market Weighton but in York often as I'm from there. I am a flasher but not done so recently! Where abouts are you in York?
  22. As you can see from the pic there's currently a low wall with a fence above next to my garage, behind the fence is just pavement and then lawn. I'm looking at just stretching the existing garage a bit further along (planning permitting). What do you think on cost? Not worried about bringing electricity etc from main garage as I know someone that can do that, just the building costs.
  23. I am considering extending my single garage to the side in order to make space for a motorbike and a few tools etc. Doesn't need to be full height and just enough space to fit the bike on a paddock stand and to be able to get around it to do work. I don't necessarily need access from the main garage into it just need access to get the bike in. Do you think this is doable and what do think the cost would be? I wouldn't want anything ugly but it also doesn't necessarily have to match the roof height of the existing garage.
  24. I've had mine done twice - once by a detailer and once by hand - same good results. I do think it will be an ongoing thing.
  25. How awful is it that we pay through the nose for insurance and then we don't use it because of the consequences further down the line. Insurance companies are laughing all the way to the bank. I hope you get it sorted.
