  1. Yup, second day I had my Zed I met a local tuned LCR (was running about 280HP IIRC) on the dual caridgeway. In a straight line he pulled away slightly but as soon as we hit a corner, it was bye bye LCR! Thats why I love the Zed, you can go round corners sooo fast The LCR probably ended up in a bush just off the rounderbout
  2. What you have to remember is that those engines are already very very strong. So adding more power is just a case of getting more air in and out (intake and exhuast) and turning up the boost. On an N/A car, like the Zed, they are already very well tuned to get the most power from it (pretty much). Increasing airflow doesnt make any big difference as the Zed has targets in its ECU for torque at a given rev/load and will tweak the mapping to get it to that number. By mapping it they can change that target and fiddle a bit, but you wont overcome the fact that the engine is already very heavily tuned for the state its in already.
  3. Glorious cars! Just keep turning up the boost! IIRC they had forged internals as standard (or at least hard core ones) so you could just turn up the boot and get a better IC to suit and off you go! More power than FWD can handle Zed is more fun to drive though, my LFR was a right bardge when it came to handling
  4. No real scrubbing in procedure, this isnt a superbike or a race car. Just drive it normally for 100 miles or so leaning on the tyres more and more as they wear in and go easy in the wet. Its just to scrub off the release agent. They are road tyres so no speacial bedding in needed, they are expected to be driven from cold all day every day, not like race tyres which expect to be up to temperature.
  5. View unread posts is only going to be of use to those of us who live on here though But, as I said, if we keep chat away from the For Sale sections, then the number of threads in there should be limited, with most being in general chat or somewhere similar, and should be easy to find your way through. No need to constantly keep bumping it as it doesnt need to fight to stay at the top any more
  6. Gains at top end will be marginal. Maybe a few HP, upto about 10, maybe 15HP if you are lucky. What you will get is a much more responsive car and better mid range torque which will show day to day driving. Dont expect decent gains top end, they arent there
  7. TBH locked For Sale threads shouldnt really need bumping. If we keep the chat out of the For Sale section, there will be only a few threads for cars for sale and they should show up under "View Unread Posts" the first time before you read it. And everyone should be able to see it quite easily without extra bumping in there if we keep it purely to sale threads if they try and search it
  8. You have lots to learn my friend, I suggest you try doing a search, there was a good thread about the basics posted not too long ago. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/ also is the mecca of detailers
  9. Sarnie for Mod ? Didn't you try that before? A LOOOOOOOOOONG time ago? It was discussed but then we came to our senses I think the idea is commendable, but I can also see it being abused. In the perfect world when people were trust worthy (by that I mean that everyone has to be, as most on here are already), it could work, but given new members could sign up just to sell a car and self moderate the thread to make it look good if it was a right banger, I dunno, I just cant see it working. Maybe we should just appoint Sarnie as a mod and let him sort them out Also if you take some of the build threads, I can see the OP rigthfully deleting OT posts, but then the poster of that getting in a strop it got deleted, kicking off a viscious cycle of posting purely about posts being deleted!

  15. Me either, but thats a bloody good thing when you are a contractor as a day off sick is a day without pay Ahh, thats where im going wrong , im employed by a large company - doh Yup, it magically makes you immune to everything. Even man flu becomes "just a sniffle", well thats what I tell the boss anyway!
  16. +1 They are a very nice bit of kit, but a bit loud for my daily commute And dont let Adrian catch you putting the bungs in, he'll pull them out and throw them in the bin
  17. I blame The Fast and the Furious. Its all those films fault

  19. You made that look far too easy! Well done
  20. I would first ask the question of if she really wants one. Dont want to sound like a party pooper, but if she isnt into the technical side of things (setting up aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc) or at least learning about it, then a DSLR could really put her of photography. If shes a point and shoot kind of gal (as my missus is) then the Canon S90 or G11 could be a good way to go. No lenses to change, but you have quite a lot of power over other settings such as ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, so can get most of what you can get with a DSLR but without the hassle if required. What should be noted is that on Auto, a DSLR will take worse shots in most cases than the P&S cameras. This is because a lot of work goes into Auto mode for P&S whereas for DSLR they assume you wont use it. I have seen many times people become disheartened at Auto mode in DSLRs, hence the warning. Saying that, if she does like the challenge, you cant go wrong with the current crop of Canon or Nikon SLRs, just watch out for that lense lust, its a slippy slope! Should also be noted that the G1 you are looking at is a Micro Four-Thirds camera, not strictly an SLR, but a new standard. Might be an idea to read up on it a bit so you know what you are getting yourself into
