  1. excellent customer care going on here - although I have not had occasion to use Phil's services...yet, I would have no hesitation in doing so having noted his on-going support for the site and members.

    MPG....

If you are really gassing it you should not be seeing more than 13-15 mpg let alone 17 to 19, so get your foot down!
  3. Never been waxed since bought new last December (except the front end to clear up mashed flies etc) - have found over many years that a regular wash with Autoglym shampoo/conditioner avoids the need to wax, although if I were into the concours stuff then I would. As you may have sensed from our brief encounter on the M6 the car was bought to drive rather than shine
  4. Just got home this afternoon after sightseeing/shopping in Chester yesterday (pre-arranged agreement with Mrs E). Had a great time - thanks Beavis for your work on this event and everyone else on the day that makes these runs so special. Stuey - your lead and fishsliding was great whilst the prize for the best noise made has to go to Lomoto - his car wasn't bad either Great admiration for Tilly and Little Miss, although only having had their cars for a short while kept us men on our toes to keep up. Some pics of the day: AND FINALLY, A ROAD JUST MADE FOR THE ZED - SIMPLY STUNNING Here's to the next time!
  5. Hi Hager - yes it was me and wife enjoying the 'play' - have to say the Monaro has the edge on the noise stakes, but then sorry you had to pull off for a petrol refill after giving it the full beans a few times Seriously, that made a rather boring motorway stint a little bit magical but then had a cracking day on the Sunday with 10 other ZEDS in Wales.
  6. Since 1965 when I passed my test and having sold my modded Lambretta TV175 and obligitory Parka: 850 mini - great first car (1962 model). 1967 Viva HB (absolute total and utter crap and bought new - a nightmare and I learnt a lot about dodgy dealers). Sold to get married/buy house Oval window 1956 beetle - had been salavaged and used for rallycross with porsche engine, then I adapted with 1500 tuned engine for road use. Another beetle (1957) - better cond but with the modified 1500 engine installed and used for much comp use - those were the days! another 850 mini (cheap but so sloooooooow) (kept beetle) Austin maxi (just crap, but a useful baby carrier) VW passat estate, better - just, (2 little ones to carry around), also a 4 door saloon (built in Brit under Jap licence and bugger if I can remember its name but it was the ex's car really - another rust bucket) Audi 80 gt - wolf in sheeps clothing and went like %hit off a shovel; (rust was a prob though) Dolomite Sprint - a useful 2lt car in its time and decent interior (then sold beetle) Golf gti (4 speed and half the weight of the current VW Gti's!?) First real chuckable car Golf gti (5 speed) + Singer Chamois Sport (Hillman Imp) for comp use Suzuki swift (divorce time and having sold the Imp) - intro to good value for money Jap cars Dahatsui Charade gti - a real stormer with a great 3 pot engine, huge fun and helped pull my present wife! Toyota Gti16 - solid & reliable Citroen 5 door diesel thing WHY DID I DO THAT? (confirmed just how bad French cars are built) Bought one of the early Scooby turbo's in 1975 (s/h) before the word got out - gave some Cossie owners a real scare and huge fun New Scooby (Terzo) version - not as good as the first - getting too common s/h Audi 80 4-wheel drive thing (but not the S3) - a real duffer - dealer agreed to take it back in exchange for a new one at no extra cost! No comparison to the Scooby's and bugger-all room in the back. New Smart Pulse SE - one of the first official GB cars helped get me a contract using an eco friendly car + a Yaris (for my wife) New Smart Brabus coupe - great fun in town with paddle shift - there is a knack to getting the best out of the much criticized autobox, plus a new Honda Civic SE - my wife had always wanted a Civic but never that happy with it but much happier with her current Jazz - a quite decent, if slow, drive) 3 years ago my first sports car - a s/h 2004 350Z which has led on to the present 2006 ZED bought new before I get too old and am not working to afford one. I still hanker after a 911 - I have a thing for rear-engined cars - perhaps its the challenge of keeping them from swapping ends! Oh, and to finish - I had responsibility at one time for demonstrating a small fleet of electic cars - mainly Puegot's 106. They take off quite well and around town were not so bad and were great for handbrake turns - the battery weight/location saw to that! Those that rode in them were always impressed, until you told them they caould not buy them and that about 60 miles was the max distance before needing to re-charge.
  7. If its like the last run earlier this year you will also not only be on but driving through it too!
  8. I have pm'd you my mobile number. Beavis: On the last NW run we all had each others mobile numbers 'real' names and what food we were having at Bala. Also the route so we could enter on sat navs which was all very useful. Any similar plans this time? BTW, there seems to be two threads running about the run - time now just for one ?
  9. Do I recall that one of the reason for the ZED only requirement was that 30+ were expected, like last time? Not wishing to upset the purists but given the very keen interest expressed by members on here with certain makes of cars beginning will "L" and their loyalty to the 'club' how about we let them in guys?? As long as they don't run at the front and hold the rest of us up that is Having read so much about their cars I would love to see them and I reckon a few more heads would be turning to see more great motors storming by? I have no problem with a certain Seat Altera coming along also given that owner's hard work on behalf of us all (as long as it is not another ultra yellow )
  10. Sorry guys - tough decision to make but I'm going on the NW run this weekend - hope to see you next time
  11. Just back from hols to pick up on this thread - I have been using an XDA Orbit for 9 months or so and had no bluetooth connection probs
  12. Easy tiger, lets try not to frighten every female that registers here. This is why i refrained Shouldn't worry guys about Charlie being put off, Sarnie's reputation goes before him in the first two words of his avatar
  13. nice try A great bunch of guys will be also be there on 28/10
  14. I'll start saving for the long trip north Nissan reckon the A835 from Inverness to Lochinver (86 miles) is one to test the ZED? What do you wee Scots lads think?
  15. Better see a doctor quick then..............
  16. lucky to ever to see another ZED down South - guess all the real money is north of Watford

    Sandpaper

I recall someone on here singing the praises of a wheel restorer in Wrexham not so long ago - as I see you are based there - worth a visit to help sort this out?
  18. A tight fit for my 6' 2" 15 stone frame too as you can see - I remember the guy at Mallory holding the door and asked if I needed a shove to get in - but a great track car and I got a 98% score with it (beating my son), which made me like even more
  19. will be good to see ya mate get your name down on the other thread london dock meet I am away for the 7/10 meet at Cowfold, but the Docks meet is possible - hope its not too soon after Wales IV drive out or Mrs E might nick the car keys thinking I'm up to no good
  20. Although my name is on the list I am out of the country then so just a bit difficult to get along on 30/9. After the Wales IV outing, then yes I'm up for it
  21. better get in quick then before the clocks go back!
  22. Ah! I didn't get that far with the original link you provided - lets hope it is compatible with the 'UK' Bose unit
