I would get a second opinion - sounds like fob-off to me as what you have experienced is not at all normal. Might be worth contacting the previous owner as things like that can be why cars are traded in. If necessary get an AA or RAC inspection if you continue to get the brush-off. Good luck

Hi and welcome. I live in Surrey and I reckon Mike has probably identified the nearest source that should be able to help you as I am not aware of any tuner or specialist in Surrey that seem to know about the ZED to any extent. Or does someone out there know otherwise............?

I have exactly the same thing with a chap next door to me! He has got a new TT and thought he was the muts nuts, painfully revving it all the time......well that was until I got the Z out the garage about a week after he has moved in!! He seems to have now developed a complex about having his car on the drive when the Z is out!! Nice one

+1 I agree - not sure if the richer/better fueling is having a slightly greater impact on mpg or its me using the loud pedal more. Round my way Ultimate can be up to 10p more a litre than Tesco 99 and I reckon over a year the saving will help to pay the increased tax bill as prior to the budget, and then hearing views on the forum about the different petrols, I had stuck religously to Ultimate. Also, you get the club card points - helps the wine bill

The engine cuts out totally irrespective of what speed your doing so lights go out and power steering non existent and there is no flashing light indicator either No worries Sarnie - all quite normal for Italian cars - the electrics doing their own thing

Yes, the usual baggage of leaflets - except for one titled - "Driving your Passion" - containing 8, of what Nissan say, are the best driving roads in the UK and includes the B1183/4501 used on the North Wales run. Something I plan to investigate in the fullness of time V5 will come from DVLA. Dunno about your history letter - sounds like that might take some time with your well travelled ZED

Sounds like you hit the 6500 'limiter' built in by Nissan for your car. However, the red light comes on at whatever 'limit' you choose to dial in on the 'up-shift indicator' - you could set it as low as 2000rpm if you wanted but it will not affect the car's built in limiter. I have my red light set at 6500rpm which is 100rpm below Nissan's recommended change up for my 2006 ZED, so as to get the best torque (grunt!) from the engine although the built in limiter dosen't kick in until 7000rpm. You have probably noticed the light flashes before it is constant at the dialled in limit, which I personally find more eye-catching to help warn of a change up when the engine note is being drowned by other noise (Usually Mrs E shouting at me to slow down ). I did make a lot of use of the change-up light in my current ZED (bought new), gradually increasing the limit from under the 4000rpm Nissan say for the running-in period, and then upwards in incremental periods afterwards. Many say running-in is not necessary and they may well be right, but I would rather not put undue strain on a new engine unnecessarily in the early part of its life, as well as other components in the car such as the gearbox and brakes. I my present ZED and may well keep it more than the 3 years I normally keep a car hence I have been particular about its early life. To be honest, the light is bit of a gimmick but you will have seen most racing cars use them these days and I guess Nissan saw the car being used on the track where the light's worth is greater . That is something I plan to test in due course.....
