    Milltek or ?

Thanks for the info everyone, much appreciated. I think I'm sold on getting the Milltek, as subtle sounds good to me. Once I've had time to get used to it, I'll think about doing what Neilp said and maybe put on some Berk Tech HFCs. Does that sounds like a reasonable approach or is there any benefit to getting both done at the same time?

    Milltek or ?

Hi All, My Z's exhaust has just started blowing, so it's time to get a new one. I've trawled through the forums and the web looking for alternatives, and it seems that all of the really interesting exhausts have to come from the U.S. which is a fairly risky proposition IMO. Anyway, I've pretty much decided to go with a Milltek exhaust as it looks reasonably stock, but from reports is slightly louder at higher revs. What I would like to find out is whether anyone has good or bad experiences with them. Oh, and if anyone thinks I'm wasting money and should go for something else, then that would be helpful too! Finally, does anyone know of a reputable supplier and fitter in the Surrey area? Thanks! Kaz
  3. Thanks guys! All useful stuff. I think I might just take it to TDI then and see if they can settle whether it's all in my head or not... Here's hoping I get my acceleration back...
  4. Not sure what a fair few miles is, but I got it with around 38K on the clock I think. Slightly over every day driving mileage I think, but not really bad given the age. I think maybe I just need to take the car to someone who actually cares about their work. Does anyone know of an independent 350Z specialist who can give my car the once over and get everything back up to scratch performance wise? (I don't want to mod if though, just want it running at it's natural peak! ) Perhaps someone based in Surrey? Thanks for the info guys!
  5. The car was serviced just before I picked it up from the dealers as it was due one. It was apparently a P1 service if memory serves, but I trust those guys about as far as I can throw them (and with my bad arm... ). What I know is that their service reported: - Front brake pads less than 20% wear left. - Tire tread on rears getting low. I think that they also changed my oil and the filter too. My lack of trust in them is due to them completely missing the fact that my drivers side inner rear brake pad was VERY thin (it started squeeling after a couple of months). That's why I changed the pads myself, as my faith in this particular Epsom based dealership is non-existent. Who sells an approved used car with dodgy brake pads? To be honest, I should have taken my business elsewhere, but I was tired of not having a car (my previous one having broken down a month earlier), so I took the first one that seemed reasonable. Maybe I was in error, but the car seemed fine at the time.
  6. Hi all, So I've had my car for a few months now. Got it second hand from a nissan dealer, and it's an 04 plate so no warranty though I did get a third party warranty when I purchased it. Anyway, that's by the by. Oh, and it's stock, apart from the red stuff pads I fitted. Anyway, there are a couple of niggles I have, and I just wanted to try and get them sorted because I absolutely love this car and drive it hard, so any help is appreciated! Firstly...maybe it's just paranoia, but I swear that it's not as fast as it used to be. Not sure why, but I feel like it is perhaps the transmission. Would a badly worn clutch make my pull away from standstill slower? Just this week I've been pwned pulling away from a standstill at some lights by a s2000 and a 3 series. It just isn't right and certainly wasn't happening initially. (oh and I'm not that wreckless, I just like to have fun occasionally!) Also, and this is something I am certain of...my car whines more than it used to. Sounds like it's coming from the rear and only gets bad after I've been driving the car for 15 minutes or so. I suspect it's a axle lubrication issue, but I've only read about a clicking issue on here, not a whining issue. Whatever it is, where I used to just hear exhaust noise I now get as much whine... Anyway, I'll stop now, as that's enough to start with...btw, does anyone know where I can get a new plastic fixing rivet thingy for my little tonneau cover? My existing one has broken and my cover now rattles when I go over bumps! Thanks guys!
  7. Haven't got around to installing them yet, but picked up some redstuffs from CS and got them super quick! Cheers CS...cheap and fast delivery.
  8. Ahhh, ok, no worries. It was the answer you kind of said...Halfords for the axle stands. I'll see if I can find a tool shop online to get the torque wrench from. I just didn't want to get some new tools that are crap and fall apart is all... (or pay more than I should!) Thanks for the help!
  9. Cool, thanks for the info! Any recommendations on suppliers / manufacturers?
  10. Hi all, So I picked up some red stuffs from CS (thanks!), and I was thinking of putting them on my Z soon. Just need to make sure that I have all the right tools to get the job done first, as I haven't done much mechanical work myself... (have replaced pads and rotors on a Ford Ka a few years back with a friend who had lots of tools). Anyway, I figure that I'm going to need a torque wrench, some copper grease, some axle stands too. My questions are: Can anyone recommend a good torque wrench? What kind of copper grease will I need? (this is for the pads) How many axle stands will I need? (Is it best to just do front and then do the rear separately? or all together?) Oh, and can anyone recommend a good place to get the forementioned items from? Cheers! K
  11. ...so today I got back from work to the park and ride where I leave my car, and my Z dust caps had been nicked! Bloody kids. So, the question is...where can I buy some new ones in bulk?...as I don't want to compromise on the look of my car just because chavs rule the car parks... (I figure having to replace four or five sets a year might be bearable...) Anyway, what does everyone else do? Perhaps keep a set of Zs for special occasions, but use black plastic ones otherwise? K
  12. Hi All, Thought it was about time I said hi, as I've been hovering around the forums for a while now, and have yet to contribute. As the topic title says, have a silver 04 stock Z GT with Rays. Brakes are a little squealy, and front pads had less than 20% left a couple of months ago, so I've just had some red stuffs delivered from CS. True to form, he got them to me the next day! Cheers mate. Anyway, wasn't planning on any huge mods yet, just got a nismo brushed aluminium tax disc holder, got some Z mats on the way, got some motul oil coming, and will probably have to renew the tyres soon. It would be nice to hook up with some local z owners to get some opinions on the state of my car, as it's a bit hard to know being a bit new to Zs. Oh, and I was thinking about picking up some aluminium kick plates (for sparkle!) and maybe a nismo radiator cap (for cooling!) next...worth it? Are there better small touches to make my Z look nicer and perform better (don't want to do major engine mods)? Oh, and does anyone know where I can get the nismo titanium gearknob from? Cheers! K
