    05 or 06?

Do you really think so? I've had both and there wasn't a lot of difference IMHO. Yes I do, having had both. Together with the other improvements including the headlghts and rear leds I do feel they made a worthwhile difference with the 'facelift' (MY06 model). But as I have said before, I am less impressed with the motor in that although it has an extra 20 bhp what is more evident is that it has loss some the better torque characteristics of the MY03 models for every day driving or when you want to have a 'play'. The fact you can rev it another 500 rpm or so only comes beneficial if pounding round tracks that have few sharp corners. The OP is aware of the model differences but I think I am right in saying the facelift (MY06) versions did not really become available until the 56 reg and even then some of the earlier MY03 models were still being registered - something to be aware of when the talk centres on "06" cars.
  2. kta might have an answer viewtopic.php?f=26&t=24923&hilit=harness+cover or why not ask Adam at Z1
  3. As your car may be 'European' spec this extract may not be the news you wanted I've been emailing Nissan and a few mobile phone companies about the connection spec. The last reply from Nissan this week was "I have sent your pictures off to our technical department, and again they have stated that there is no information available for us. The electronics and the wiring loom are totally different in the European and Japanese spec 350Z's and we do not hold specific information on vehicles we do not offer in the UK. We have sent a query to Nissan Japan, but just to make you aware they can take a number of weeks to reply. Again I can only recommend that you speak to your local Nissan dealership to discuss your options. Even if we manage to obtain a list of compatable mobile phones, they will be Japanese specification phones which can be different to the phones we have here in Europe." But now off to try and find a post that showed what was necessary to fit the cradle and its support bits, although the wiring issue may make an aftermarket bluetooth option more practical. I will be back I'm back, and this thread I was looking for: viewtopic.php?t=13358 Hope that helps
  4. Very reasonsble question...basically they sit between the rear of the brake pads and the caliper that holds the pads and as I understand it are slightly sprung stainles steel to allow sufficient movement back and forward without the pads rusting onto the caliper - normally the rear of the shims have high melting point grease on the back to stop things becoming solid and also stop squealing. If I have got that wrong no doubt Alex or someone more techy than me will explain
  5. Nice spot. Must say I was wondering about the tom-tom - is this because the GTR is an import so that it has no UK/Europe navigation It does look rather nice in red - even in those pics
  6. Welcome to the forum, oh hot one Got some things to check and answer from the posts above - but if my temp needle creeps up over half way it will kick the fan in. If your guage is reading correct I would expect the fan to be going all the time - if it isn't then I would suspect the guage is giving a false reading
  7. I'm gutted for you - hope it will third time lucky in the not so distant future, as you are clearly a true ZED enthusiast. Guess that means we will not see you on the Wales run - sounds like a sale can't wait until after 11 Oct. Do hope better luck is just round the corner for you
  8. Nope, even though I have been left 'home-alone' for week
  9. No, too late should have asked at 350 posts
  10. Just out of curiosity looking at the EVO reviews, is this ZED known on here: http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarr ... _350z.html
  11. errrrrrrrrrr - I do use reverse and have damaged my rear - hoping not to repeat that
  12. Swopped the one non-working sensor with another that was OK and it worked but then the one that was working would not work when swopped over. (There are connectors about 6 inches down the wires from the sensors when you pull them out from the bumper). As the dealer verified, the fault is either in the supply wire or the unit itself. The supply unit was sticky-padded inside the boot onto the bumper bulkhead - completely dry there. I am hoping the fault is in the unit that can easily be swopped over (hopefully at Nissan's cost) rather than in the supply wire, although I have no doubt a decent electrian can feed a new supply wire through if necessary without taking the bumper off. I'll give that option a go myself if it comes to it With Maccaman's help idenitfying the supplier (who supply the industry) I am hoping it will be proved to be an authorized Nissan fitment at new covered by the 3 year warranty, but anything you have to confirm or otherwise so I can get it fixed sooner than later would be welcome
  13. Bet your 'fuel' bills topped that by some margin when you had the Lambo
  14. Thanks - that certainly seems to be what is fitted - now need to find out if that is what Nissan UK specified for installation when new
  15. One of the 4 sensors dosen't... Took it into the local Nissan dealership who are not convinced the installation is Nissan approved, which as I bought the car new specifying the optional sensors seems just a little odd. (The car was supplied by a dealer friend who sourced it from Nissan Shepperton and I recall having to wait for the car to be delivered to my dealer until the sensors were fitted - I presumed by the Nissan dealer). The local garage Nissan dealer are unwilling to deal with it as a warranty issue, until convinced it is an approved item Does anyone recognise the box of tricks in the pic that is potentially at fault? (It might possibly be the supply wire to the sensor that is not working). We know the actual sensor itself is OK. Under the wording in the right corner the number 60120563. But there is no Nissan emblem etc to say what make it is.
  16. Makes a change to hear something in Scotland is dearer than England these days But that is a rip-off Paul - no doubt Chris will give you a few pointers
  17. First thing I would do is check the pads - I'm sure I've read that the inner (less obvious) ones wear quicker than those you can more easily see from the sides of the car.
  18. I've got a 3gs and it works with the BT bluetooth perfectly, it initially didnt want to but i got it to search for connections as i turned the car on and once paired it has been fine Great news - thanks Paul
  19. Thought I would use this thread to ask if anyone who has a I phone 3g or 3gs has been able able to pair it successfully with the BT bluetooth adaptor that fits the Zed cradle so all the usual hands-free options work
  20. What year was it when they stopped teaching English Language in schools
  21. No just sensible and as Martin has said we like home comforts
  22. Hi Mike, and I had to post it after I got rid of my Zed... I did post this on the Merc owners website , but they are such a boring forum , nobody evens bothers to comment on posts.. The guys on here dont realise what an excellent site this is Thats why my post count will never reach the dizzy heights you two have achieved as I always write too much We miss your one liners Tim (and the shirts) But hey, why you join us on the HOON in September, sure Stew will let you blast round with in the Merc Unless of course you feel you couldn't keep up...... I could go on but.....
  23. Both days of course The main run is on the Sunday leaving Moreton Park at 10.00 and should be back for 18.00. The Saturday run will leave about 11.00am and likely to be back about 16.30 so that cars can be cleaned up for the next day. Be great to have you along im tempted with both days, is a two hour drive home and then 2 back in the morning acceptable? hmm i think i will come along for the sunday run! just need to find a co-driver, i'll add my name to the sunday list now Why not stay overnight and do both - for £60 + a meal isn't that worth it to meet up with members on here over a few jars that you you only so far exchanged pleasantries with, or in the case of Nixy, wound up
  24. Nothing wrong with your sanity Stew, its just that lad has got good taste and probably realises it is a car he could aspire to and not just dream about But good on you for making the opportunity - shame something like that dosen't seem to happen at the other end of the country........unless someone out there knows otherwise
