    Still waiting!!

I run a 10 year old 440 too for certain trips and use it as a general battle wagon. I think the cost saving is there but not massive, I get 37 mpg, £300 insurance plus and MOT and £50 service a year, and about 15-20k miles on it a year. It's the mileage saved I reckon helps stop the depreciation on the Zed. But overall, the running costs really aren't that bad.
  2. Your engine is there to stop it hitting the ground!
  3. Looks like a very good weave, guess the vents and mesh are there for personal taste. Looks on the more expensive side, seen plenty of others for more like £500.
  4. I went for it, yeah. I washed it, dried it and then used Show Shine to prepare it. Then added this to it, and it just lifted it. It's the first thing I've ever used that has lifted Ultra Gloss. That said, I did do the Ultra Gloss a while ago so I have no idea 'how much' is left on the car. It's been through a winter so maybe not much. Tim, as for cost, take a look at this - http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/ProductD ... uctID=9100 Their top seller and not too bad IMO. I can't wait to add some of the Chemical Guys oily stuff into the mix when I prepare it for the summer and then I'll just keep adding the wax onto the Gloss. Unless our resident detailer knows that any of the is unecessary.....!!
  5. Although I've shown cars and spent more than a fair share of time cleaning and detailing previous cars, I've not used carnuba wax before. Mate came over today with some and I gave it a go over my Ultra Gloss after a bit of show shine. Have to say I'm converted! Can't wait for the summer!!

    Washing Mitt

Hate to say it but the Halfords one I have seems to be better than the Meguiars one I used. Genuine Sheepskin Mitt is the one me thinks.
  7. Who's the guy with a familiar signature on there?? Fair to say 'Paul' wasn't the first in the line when brains were handed out!
  8. The car has 300bhp and weighs a ton and a half. The brakes will take some punishment! It's not a horrendous job, and mine were done not too much over 20k, so doesn't seem unreasonable. If you can safely use a jack, stands, spanner and a few other tools, you can change the lot. Use people like Phil on here as they have a lot of experience with these things. I changed my rear pads on my own in about an hour. Complete novice!!
  9. The Sound Gallery in High Wycombe. Awesome installers, did my trophy winning car, founding members of Sound Challenge Association on the staff and know all about everything audio. Prestige also good, Huets heard mixed, same with Sextons.
  10. My argument with SRP polish vs Megs NXT is 'no pain no gain'!! Did a whole car with Megs and the first thing we did when finished was look at the car next to it done in AutoGlym and said 'Should've used Glym'. Those guys on the concourse can't be too wrong, and the Gloss Protection really lasts.
  11. I have two nearly new Bridgestones in my garage from when I changed to the Toyos. They're on offer to tide you over til a full change. Or anyone else for that matter!
  12. Good idea. Get a bunch of us down there. It's easy to get to, and is usually the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday of the month IIRC.
  13. Today was my Zed's third birthday, and have you got any idea how difficult Nissan make it to actually buy one of their extended warranties?!?!?! Bunch of goons at the dealer had a week to sort it and were incapable. Useless. BTW, Dan Perkins has been taken over, all branches, by some other franchise owner. That pushed me to buy the full Nissan warranty! Still no resolution on claim, have e-mailed them the pictures. Waiting for a blind person to assess them.......
  14. How come this is showing as a new topic in the intros section??
  15. 'Tis a lame excuse, we should've known!! I was too busy taking pictures for the Genius Crew (aka Nissan GB Customer Services) anyway.
  16. Nice ride, and a good Hoff stance (H5 when is the next Reading Jap Meet) Bugger. Was last night!!

    age......

    26. Depressing, now nearer 30 than 20.....
  18. 2 door Micra Convertible Sport abortion type thing isn't it?!?!
  19. Welcome!! Reading Jap meet could be your first time to come say Hi!!
  20. Sorry but I don't believe that one Correct, you'd need a directly proportionate amount of power increase to get that (approx. 50 bhp).
  21. He he, I'm clearly a big kid too..... My mate bought me one for my birthday in December, and my parents another one for Xmas. The Xmas pressie has a radio built in and under car neons!!
  22. If you're up north mate I can give you a few places that will sort it and do it properly. People that build competition cars and will look at a Zed and know exactly what to do. One in Sheffield and one in Sunderland if either of those locations help?
  23. Completely agree. My gf has an S1 Elise and they are awesome cars. We were having this dicussion at the meet. An S2 is trying to be something it's not. The S1 knows exactly what it is, and goes well. So much fun, and it has been reliable to date and servicing costs are not bad at all. Get one!
  24. Joy, at least they're consistent. Went down there at lunch time..... Had an 'open conversation' with the service manager and got to the point he couldn't really answer the question - If you spent £30k on a car, would you expect the spokes to corrode (regardless of damage elsewhere on a wheel) when having paid for the upgrade, and the leather on a handbrake to be stretched so thinly that in under 3 years it's worn through?' So he got on the phone to the warranty manager at Nissan GB who has agreed to look at some pictures that I need to take of it all. Jeeeez! Not holding much hope though. Fooking useless.
  25. Just had a very frustrating phone conversation. My dealer's 'professional opinion' says my issues are wear and tear, so will not submit a claim to Nissan GB. So Nissan GB refuse to recognise it. Leaving me completely high and dry. Nissan GB's advice - get a second opinion from another dealer and see if they'll submit it. WTF IS GOING ON NISSAN???? Am so angry, how is that customer service in ANY way? 'Sorry mate we're taking their word over yours so you're stuffed, and we won't listen'. I knew this would be a pain bit this takes the royal wee.
