In the last 2 weeks Autocar have put a new Mondeo and a Nissan Skyline G35 up against the 3 series and both times the non-prestige competitor was as good if not better than the Bee Emm. Will 3 series drivers buy them or even consider them - not likely! Prestige badges are like the emperors new clothes, particularly in their entry level ranges.

Why. You get a well balanced rear drive car with a decent build quality. Most of the alternatives are FWD. As most of you have experienced RWD I think you wil agree it makes for a more drivers car. RWD is pretty much its only selling point other than the badge. Its ugly, rides badly and appallingly packaged.

Rich, I'd say that the difference is that when people say they are coming from a long way away, then they typically are. It also takes more planning for them and they have normally taken than into account as well. The fact that its a big meet, (rather than a once a month one that is easy for local people not to turn up to) means that I bet you will have a good turn out....... AND most of the people on the list are people that have always delivered on their promises in past meets. Don't let the local one dishearten you too much...... I'm sure you'll have a good turn out of this one. You will always have the odd one or two that have an issue or pull out at last min, but the majority will be there I'm sure.....! Just needs people to let you know if they can't make it for any reason, rather than just pulling out mate Keep the faith Rich! Couldn't agree more. What's this piano worth then? This is certainly not my area of practice so I speak not as a lawyer but I agree with those who have suggested that you first port of call is to pay him a visit. No threats but I certainly would cut him no slack simply because he has disabilities. If you can prove that you own the piano (original purchase receipt) then should you have no joy I would consider issuing County Court proceedings against him in the Small Claims Track (on the presumption that we are talking under £5k). You would not get your legal costs back even if successful so unless the piano was worth a lot I would not instruct a solicitor (not economic) but the Small Claims Track is designed so you can run your own claim without the need for solicitors. The CAB are normally quite capable of providing sufficient advice to help you through it. If he isn't trading as a limited company then its harder to ascertain his financial status but iirc there is a site which will tell you if he's bankrupt if you do a search. If he is, forget it and chalk it down to experience. A visit may help you ascertain if he is likely to be good for the money if you do sue him - there's no point getting a judgement against a man of straw, although you could stop him getting credit if you felt vindictive. Bear in mind though he may own his own house and you could get a charging order against it.

This is where I have a problem. Running an exotic is fine if you have the cash to buy a nice second car to use day to day (and I mean new, comfortable, fast and stylish) but it would depress me to spend most of my time driving a nail and looking like a rep.

Shouldn't I be encouraging folk to drive without seatbelts so I get more injury claims!

As a personal injury lawyer I've seen some horrific facial/head injuries where people haven't worn seatbelts but very few serious injuries from seatbelts. There will be the odd occasion where a seatbelt has caused injury or death but far more times where it has save the skin of the wearer. I always wear mine. I'm happy for front seat passengers to make their own minds up whether they want to risk their necks but rear seat passengers without seatbelts are a danger to those in the front.
