Aha! This question is the source of much debate and friendly ( ) banter! Quality Japanese wheels will cost you anywhere between £1500 and £3000 from an English supplier. However, suppliers in the UK are a bit limited so now is a good time to take advantage of that exchange rate and buy from the US where you'll save a packet. There are other wheels available which personally I have no problem with but others do, such as TSW, which I think you can source over here for less than £1k. Is your priority looks or handling? Cheaper wheels will be cast and therefore will be heavier than stock in a 19 or 20". Do you mind importing or do you want a UK supplier?

+1 Not keen on gold unless its on blue scoobies. Thats Bronze isnt it? Dont like it on those either, too common I'm pretty sure its gold on the scoobies but bronze seems to be one that the Yanks go for on the Zeds but I can't stand.

Welcome, pal! You are right at the bottom of the Zed ladder in that price range and there'll be quite a few dogs knocking around. I would wholeheartedly agree with Mike that if you can stretch to Sinbad's car you would be getting a fine, well looked after Zed at an absolute bargain price. I've seen the car on a couple of occasions and its a steal.

Forget performance gains from a zorst unless you're also going FI. Its all about sound baby! I'd suggest you get the NISMO cat back and see wat you think. If you want it louder then you can get the cats done later. If, like lots of us, the NISMO hits the spot straight out of the box you've saved yourself the price of some cats. Sorted!

I vote track because those that have had them have say they are too hardcore for day to day and I dont think I've ever seen one on the road. I suppose they might just have multiple miserable owners though.......

I see the point that you're making but why didn't Nissan take this line with Autocar? By replacing the engine and apparently not feeding any info on the cause back to the magazine they have allowed Autocar to print an article which would worry any potential Zed purchaser.

I think that if read in isolation, without knowing just how highly Autocar rate the standard car, it could certainly put people off. I don't see that they said anywhere that the car was "annoying" and that's why they fitted the NISMO bits - they simply had an opportunity to see what they did and that was the reason for getting another Zed (this is their second long termer and they loved the first). Basically, the old, fat bloke who wrote the article thought the NISMO suspension too hard (fair comment unless you are tracking the car regularly), the NISMO exhaust too load on the motorway (its a little boomy at just around 80mph but its worth putting up with unless you do 1000 motorway miles a week) and the NISMO seats too constraining (bear in mind the guy is obviously short for his weight and found the standard seat too tight - run a search on here and see how many have complained about that!). I got the distinct feeling that he would have been much happier in a TT and was not really the appropriate person to select to run a modded sports car. Nevertheless, he took all the stuff off except the kit and the wheels (made by Rays BTW) and his conclusion was that the Zed was a great car and didn't need the other bits which just made it more focussed and more compromised. Unless you work for NISMO, the only really negative bits were a niggle at the fuel consumption and the rather more serious issue of the engine change. There can be no doubt that they got preferential treatment to those Zed owners I have come across with the same problem. The worrying bit was that the replacement engine seemed to like a drop too. TBH it would put me off buying an MY06 and quite a lot of people will not want a Zed at all after reading it. However, whilst that does nothing for my resale value that's exactly what Autocar are there for and if we want to vent our spleen it should properly be against Nissan.

In the last 3 weeks I've sat in 911's, Astons, Lambo's and Ferrari's. All left me feeling dissappointed with regard to the interior. All were dull or very basic. I don't think I would be happy with any interior for £80k! The zeds interior is awful But I don'r give a monkeys as I love everything else about it. The £80k is going on the exterior, the noise and 500 BHP not fancy switches and door handles I know that but tb fair I doubt there's a porsche, aston or ferrari that looks as dodgy as that - Kev do you have a pic. of your interior? For 80K you want to be cossetted, comfortable and be surrounded by nice touchy-feely quality stuff as well as a loud fast motor. If interior was top of my list I'd be looking at Bentleys and high end mercs but its not. Infact is doesn't even make it onto my list. Look, I'm sure we would choose to spend their money on different cars than a Gallardo. Sinbad would have a GT3 RS and Louis an Aston. Look 100 times better than the Gallardo picture in your post.. And thats your opinion. Your entitled to it. I'm sure everyone on here is thinking if I had £80k I buy ........................ and each one would be different and for different reasons. I'm sure when you bought your 6 series lots of people though 'Id have bought something else' One thing we are agreeing on is that the interior isn't great but the interior is not even a consideration for me. You buy for yourself not people on here, well that's my motto. If this is the motor for you go for it. If you mind is made up why are you even discussing the interior. Who are your trying to convince, us or yourself. Personally I don't give a rats ass what people think on my choice of car. Even my daughter hates the Bimmer, but that doesn't bother me. Maybe you on the other had are looking for approval of your choice. TBF I can't see that he's really tried to defend the interior, just people having a pop at it.
