  1. All been done on the BMW forums. The surprising thing is the weight is now only 60kg light than my 650i, so a lot heavier than the old M3. Most of the BMW purest think it's simply keeping up with the jone's, i.e. the RS4 having a V8. Also the £50k price tag
  2. Totally solid. Basically we need 2 new front seats and a fun interior re-trim, then paint and tidying under the boot & bonnet. Plus some music & speakers. If this all goes well we might invest in a new coat of exterior paint over the winter as it's not mint, but wouldn't need much prep work so hopefully wouldn't cost too much. No roof to paint too... Mechanically it's great with 12 months MOT too. I drove it back from Ashford in Kent would you believe. 4 hours without stopping too...
  3. Not true dude loads of cars out there that will out do one. Only 4 cars on the Top Gear track and they are all Supercars.. http://www.topgear.com/content/tgonbbc2 ... s/thestig/
  4. 1) The new WRX is about to be lauched so will hit depreciation even further so bargains to be had. A nice WR1 Prodrive is a bit exclusive. I had a WRX a few years ago and it's about the quickest thing on British twisty roads you can buy. Easily outrun a Zed even the non STi 1) M5 does have a short service interval and high fuel consumption costs, but german reliability. You can also buy extended warranty on any age of BMW and this is transferable, so you may be able to get a warranted M5. Personally I don't like the Dame Edna front end but would put up with this for the supercar performance. 2) THis is a seriously old car now and not really in the same league as the rest in the refinement and usability. 3) Don't think they make a RHD.
  5. Do you know what she likes the most about it......The big steering wheel..
  6. Very lucky girl, but at least this car will hold it's value. In fact once we've sorted a few things it will definately be worth quite a bit more than we paid. As for RHD. It can be converted easily although the dash is the problem as it's metal, so needs cutting and a new one re-welding in. For now we like the LHD and the fact it's US spec, which to the experts is obvious due to the IRS rear end.
  7. It's a bit of a daughter & Father project, but in pretty good condition to start with. It's a 1969 genuine VW Karmann Cabriolet Beetle. 1500 cc and all original other than the horrible Ford Recaro Seats, which we will be ditching. It also benefits from quite rare Sprint Star wheels and being a US spec the IRS rear suspension. It was imported from California in 1991, so LHD, but it remains an historic vehicle so tax free. It's also group 4 insurance so great for my 18 year old daughter. We're off to a VW Show on Sunday at Stanford Hall near Leicester if anyone is interested. See http://www.stanfordhallvw.co.uk/index.html
  8. Remember i was referring to the TVR T350 not the EXIGE at that point I'm confused... Anyway both cars are best used as a second car. Just Sarnie being his usual picky self.
  9. I'd buy one without warranty. Anyway, the Nissan warranty ain't worth much.....
  10. Staying at home. Have you seen the traffic predictions. Not to menion the weather. Hang on a minute I have mentioned the weather...
  11. A lot of car for your money at the moment, but agree with most that you need this to be a second car.
  12. '02 M5's old shape are now down to £20k ish.
  13. M5 or maybe the new M5 Touring. A lot of car for your money, especially when secondhand....V10 and 500bhp...
  14. Sorry mate I was referring to Ricks comment on servicing costs. Must have pressed the wrong quote button....duh...
  15. I don't fully agree, as the only expensive item is the SMG clutches and you can buy an manual. No cam belts, so the servicing is just th usual oil change and check over. The rest would be on warranty. Labour rates would of course be a little higher than a Nissan, but you would be surprised just how cheap they are to keep.
  16. .....the only thing less reliable than an old Maser! Probably easier to fix though....... Unlikely with a TVR, especially the engine which usually needs rebuilding every 15k miles or so.
  17. The 3200gt uses a Maserati twin turbo V8 and was very inreliable. When they were put under the control of Ferrari, the latest generation 4.2 V8 engine was fitted and it's very reliable. It also benefits from a chain driven set of cams, so no expensive cam belt swaps aka Ferraris. Everything else on the car is pretty reliable, for an Italian car that is... The Gran Sport has a sports exhaust so even nicer V8 sound..
  18. Sounds like a load of b0llocks to me. If it was that easy car manufacturers would be using these already.
  19. will be a good buy when they reach £20K mark , which wont be long at this rate You won't get a good 3200GT for that price. They seem to drop to about £35k - £40k after about 3 years. I certainly would pay too much for one now the new Gran Turismo has been announced.
  20. Love the Maser. This is the Gran Sport version too. I test drove one before I sold the Zed. The engine is a peach and sounds superb. Ferrari supplied too. They do depreciate fast though and the SMG wears clutches out at a rate of one per 15,000 if you drive them carefully. Cost £1.5k + to change too...
  21. Not neccesarily true. His new wheels are so much heavier than the old ones that the suspension is sagging.....
  22. Watch this space........ ;
