  1. Mark in the OC tried to repair some kerbing of his RH Wheels. He tried sanding down and it was indeed coated, chrome or anodised. This meant that although he got a smooth shiny area where the damage was, as the metal was different it a different colour, (chrome versus aluminium). The guy was so dissapointed he sold thhe wheel to Rish and replaced them with Nismo's. So I guess the moral is be careful before trying to repair chromed shiny rims. If they are coated you may make them look worse...
  2. Since I've left the middle section standard I don't expect much difference, but the sound is awsome, really deep burble now but not too intrusive. I have been considering a DMS remap upgrade, but only if I keep the car closer to the end of warranty. This apparently gives 400 bhp..
  3. I'll be stick to standard setup as it's perfect for me, a nice balance of ride and handling. Also, It's not so much the ride height, more the fact that the wheels are only 19's and the arches will take much bigger. Some guys in the US have fitted 22's....
  4. Michelin Pilot Sport's all £900 worth...
  5. That's because you wouldn't know a 6 series from your ass...... My ass looks better than a 6 series I think I prefer my 6 to your ass, hell I prefer a Reliant Robin to your ASS...

  7. Thanks for the compliments guys. Much appreciated. I've only been for a short drive, but yes absolutely. The ride is better, grip much improved and steering lighter. In fact it makes the whole car feel lighter and more agile. I could tell the difference straight away just drive out of our close... :thumbs:I
  8. New wheels fitted today and new bumpers, sills and exhaust. The exhaust is a Supersprint with quad 90mm tail pipes. Sounds superb, very deep. Kind of TVR sounding.
  9. Quite right. Sorry only supporting your choice of motor. Hope you enjoy it..
  10. If you do search on Vw35DE you will indeed get references to it being a Nissan engine as this is Nissan's product number for it The equivalent number for the Renault Vel Satis is V4Y 701. The question is who designed it and which came first. Since the Nissan / Renault alliance the answer maybe it was a joint development.
  11. They wont be complimenting each other much longer I beg to differ. I read an article that said the ties between Jaguar and Land Rover are too deep to sepearate them. At least in the short term. Don't forget all the V8's are now Jaguar units and I'm sure there's lots more shared running gear. This is why Ford are sellign both. They picked on Aston as they said this could operate as a separate business and didn't reallt want to sell LR and Jaguar, but their too deep in a mess. The way I read it is that they are lumping Jag into the LR sale, and whoever buy's it will just asset strip LR and let the Jag name go to the wolves as it is a loss making operation Read this from the Guardian today. It says : - See http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0, ... ess+latest Splitting the 2 would take time and cost money, which is why I said they could not be split in the short term.

  13. Yep thats correct, as Val posted that thread from the designer who worked for Nissan in Japan recently! Kev knows that, hes just trying to stir as he's got sick of winding everyone up sat in the middle lane..... I honestly thought the engine was a Renault engine. This discussion took place at lengths on the OC. The Val Satis preceeds the Zed by a couple of years. Now I'm not sure. Anyway, we all know effectively Nissan and Renault are the same company, i.e. 2 division of Carlos Ghosn's empire. He was bought in to rescue Nissan and much of this has been by new models and sharing development with Renault. It's not an aliiance that appeals to me TBH. Unlike the Jaguar and Land Rover which seem to compliment each other. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Ghosn
  14. Nice. Look good in the flesh. My daughter has just bought a 2005 Megane 1.9 dCi and she's really pleased with it. Best remind the guys here that Renault and Nissan are the same company now. The engine in the Zed is a Renault from thw Val Satis....
  15. Not for me thanks, even though we don't want any more sprogs. What bothers me is where all your little swimming friends go then. They are still produced apparently....
  16. yeah Kev, AND the cost of your beemer! Because my car was only a year old he called loads of Nissan dealers for a trade in price and 2 were interested so it went to the highest price. I guess the price of my car focussed his attentions lets say...
  17. wear some steel underpants , for when the BM dealer kicks you between the legs with your P/ex I got a cracking trade in on my Zed. I think it all depends in the salesman.
  18. Course I'm jealous. I reckon I was driving around in a Capri when I was 27.... I do own an X1/9 and have a soft spot for Italian cars. Especially the new Maserati Gran Turismo...
  19. You're absolutely right Kev. The Cayman came out top overall, but the Zed beat the Z4 in most areas including handing and driveability. Not surprising really. Mid engine and the fact the car was built for that kind of power etc. The Z4M however is a Z4 with a lot of power so I guess it's controlling it. I have to say though, the BMW traction control/stability system is excellent. My car recently had a recall on a steering position sensor and about a week before it was due to go in to be fixed it started playing up and disabling the DSC. The car was a nightmare whenever it happened. With it on it just sorts itself out, sometimes without you even really noticing much.
  20. If you put cost into the equations when comparing these 3 cars Trev mentions, then I can see how the Zed would win. Great value for money. However, cost asside I would prefer the other 2. As for handling, I can't imagine the Zed winning over a Porker. Didn't the Cayman S come within a gnats wisker of a 911 around the Nurgurgring. I remember Top Gear saying it would have beat the 911 if it had a limited slip diff.
  21. There's plenty available is you do a national search of BMW dealer stock. You also may get a better trade at a BMW dealersip. I did. See http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/national ... html?D=Nat Good choice by the way. Cracking car with a fabulous engine. Nice colour combo too. That red leather looks great on a silver car...
  22. Nice one... That last picture ain't flattering for either car. Looks like two fat ar5se's ...
  23. I think the exotic point is a good one. I want driving the lambo to be a totally different and exhilarating experience, plus I wanna show it off to my mates! There's a guy on our street who has a Punto with egear.... And I bet your jealous aren't ya You're the one into Italian cars. Mines german.....
