  1. Adam, if you are coming all the way from the states to watch F1 @ silverstone then I suggest you look at getting a helicopter to the track, yes it will be relatively expensive but will save 2-4 hours of being stuck in traffic jam. They typically shut down a dual-carriageway (a43) so people can get in quicker, If not look at camping at silverstone to save all the travelling.
  2. You still pay for private fuel, but you should be able to claim back business mileage. If you do more business miles than personal then you will likely have a bigger allownace than you are taxed on your personal ones. (assuming you are not spending more than 40p per mile in fuel) Err, wassat then??? Me (plus my accountant) follow the rules in that private fuel is a taxable benefit therefore you pay as if the gross cost was part of your salary, so you pay the chancellor 10%/22%(soon to be 20%)/40% of this at the various breakpoints. Am I missing something???

Tere Well done, even with your wait you will still likely be the first on here.
  4. pistonheads always a winner and free so nothing to lose.
  5. For Le mans 3 years ago I fitted 2 people, 6 man tent, blow up beds, all the kit to go with and clothing for 2 people (do not take suitcases.). not a lot of room left. More room than you think but you will not see anything out the rear window. Following year had to fit 3 man tent in the caterham, but no wife that year so passenger seat used. Elkona, If you seriously cannot fit everything for Le Mans in your car this year let me know as will be taking the bimmer estate, wil be there Thurs to Sunday night. (Abbeville track day on Monday if you want to stop off on the way back and see some elise/exiges go round a track.)
  6. Got some too, but the qty he has for sale did not go down. Anyone know why.
  7. Polarbear, Make you you are claiming the allowance/offset back as I should get approx £1000 cheque from the nice Tax Office. ...so does mine, but (a) they get touchy about premier fuels, and ( I still end up paying 40% of it as a taxable benefit
  8. If you asked 2 days from ago there was a bargin great Pug from a chap on the Lotus site Looked stunning for £800 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/393654.htm If it falls thru, can ask him if still available.

    Just a quick vid!

Seems the Russia BMW driver do not care about being taped speeding. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/190910/bm ... g_340km_h/ Car does look stable at 210 mph.

Can anyone see a lambo in this vid http://www.metacafe.com/watch/553024/ge ... 00_launch/
  11. Seems someone else want to jump on the bandwagon. Ariel come out with an alternative with 500BHP http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/news/defau ... ryId=17680
  12. I have magic eye to control the SKY in a different room via the normal co-ax cable. Think you are talking about something that retransmits the signal rather than sending control signals down the cable. So can help
  13. Chris, Your company will always sent it to tthe Tax Office and give you a copy. Then when you fill in tax form you fill in the details from the P11d. They should match. They will then treat it like "unearned income" and tax it at your rate, likely to be 40%. Then on your tax return you claim back your business miles, 40p for first 10,000 miles as an allowance. This is then offset against the tax bill. To cut a long story short, if you do 8,000 business miles then its worth filling in forms. The offset value is likely to be bigger than the tax on the fuel and then the nice tax man sends you a cheque instead of a demand for monies. [numpty_hat] OK, probably me being dumb, but I havent ever filled out a P11d. Would they somehow be doing this for me and then that being added to my tax code for PAYEE? [/numpty_hat]
  14. Chris My works pays for fuel also but still put 95 most of the time. Anything that work pay for is likely to be on your P11d and therefore you get taxed on it. So really your are likely to be paying only 40% of the difference between 95 and 97 but you will be paying. I am closer to £5k of fuel now and therefore a 10% saving is worth it.
  15. Starting the off with Zed with 97. Then after six months tried 95 and did not make much difference, about the same difference as fitting spills grounding kit. If you are doing a track day or dyno run and you want max performance then just fill up one tank earlier and by the time you do the track day it will be setup for the 97. I would put money on most people spend less than 5% of time on the road at redline (max revs) so you are never using the extra power it gives. If I want to go faster with 95 in the tank I just press the pedal harder and it goes faster 95% of the time. Therefore 95% of the time I am saving money by running with 95Ron.. PS it used to have a link on the Nissan site saying it would not harm your engine running 95 all the time, just said you would lose some power. PPS do you think I like the number 95.

    Just a quick vid!

DJ did not say you where speeding, just saying that they are clamping down on people posting videos. All started with people filming their speedo's over 120 and erratic driving, then the idiot near me in oxford/witney does 174mph on a dual carridgeway winds them up. Just offering friendly advice as it took me less two mins to also find another vid of yours with the reg number on it. If a copper is determined he will get you for something as they always can. Crossing the centre line near a corner and the road on your side has "SLOW" printed on it might be enough. Just would not be me posting it, thats all I am saying.
  17. Just spend the day in chester and had a day last week. There seems to be a Tango with a private reg in the middle of the town every time I visit. PS allow extra time as they have closed a bridge in chester and the traffic is pooh and takes twice as long to get from a to b.
  18. Who cares. Doing fine on here. Maybe they did not pay their bills. Apparently its more than a forum anyway so no problems as you are still getting all your other benefits for your subs.
  19. I am sure Kev can also recommend a visit to SELOC.org to get some facts/figure/views Kev, You going to make it to any of the LoTRDC this year. Just signed up for the box at brands so will be doing all those.

    Just a quick vid!

To be honest not the kind of vid I would post as some plod may put 1+1 together and get 3. Certain police forces are trolling web for speeding vids. BUT the car does look good and nice drive out.

    decent Zed vids

You have to look closely as it is easy to get distracted.
  22. Realy good car. I just would not fit in it as a daily drive. If you are based south come to LoTRDC at brands end of march as there will be 100+ elise/exige and I can get you to have a word with a few owners.

First has very "fair"-lady in it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZnOfc2z-r0 Then how to drift by a jock. The Run video (may have been posted already but new boys may not have seen it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Fd6k99n_E Car park drift demo
  24. This is the one I saw a couple of years ago http://www.reverie.ltd.uk/en/gallery/en ... ers_10.php Looks like they have cleaned it up, Caterham have signed up to the program and now increased the price from £40k+ for non supercharged one to 115k for a supercharge one. Big hike in price as 380BHP engine and gearbox was likely to be a 15-20k two years ago.
  25. Is this a Zed only meet. Just wondering if taking a 4 seater fire truck would be an issue with anyone. Would like to take a few pics as you cannot help reminisce about the Zed. Not a definite yet want to gauge if I should try re-arranging things or not.
