Attatching CF covers to battery and BF covers ???
rtbiscuit replied to rtbiscuit's topic in 350Z General
i gave them a through wipe down with a cleaning cloth. buth there seems to be a greasy residue on the surface, feels a bit like oil -
This may sould silly but i can't get mine to stick on. i bought some carbon fibre covers from M350ZB, nothing wrong with them product is fine, what i need help with is how to attatch them. i've just tried no more nails super strong doublesided adhesion tape. it sticks fine to the CF but just won't grip to the original plastic covers. and this stuff is far more sticky than your average 3M tape. so what have other people used? should i just go and order some Tiger seal adhesive and make them permenant? and bond them on so they never come off?

i find parkers online guides not to bad, most dealerships use glasses guide prices. both of these can be accessed online

if the cubby is a different colour which it may be with mine as well i am just going to send my dash off to paul at Dream customz how will skin it in a carbon fibre cloth. its not true carbon, but looks dam close.

The chrome paint from b&q advised not to use laquer on it as it dulls the finish, but its probably not designed for outdoor use. R you might be right, have a search on paints4u.com and see what they have. if you email them they are very helpful tell them what your trying to do, send them a picture and they'll probably recommend something for you.

i had the same problem drawn a complete blank for any kind of pictures. i'm hoping mine is due at the end of this week. i'll take pitures of the new item from the rear as a reference point as i won't get round to fitting it for a few weeks. with the pic of the new unit from behind you should be able to dismantle your own dash and see if it fits. will send you the measuremnt s between fixing points if that helps

I take it you didnt read all my post then... I said im going to ask you for some Nissan decals in black for them. I cant put brembo in them saing as they're standard JDM brakes! ...I just need to wait for the weather to get better then i can go out and measure what sizes i need! just kinda flicked through and looked at the pretty pictures

without laquer it will go the way of the dodo real quick. all metallic paints need laquer. Will halfrauds do both Gun metal coloured spray paint and laquer? Is the laquer spray on? or paint on..? best place for paints is www.paints4u.com halfruads is ok, i'd use a white plastic primer, silver/chrome paint and standard laquer. total cost about £20 if you include wet and dry paper

first one is same as the K1 and buy the time you pay shipping costs to the uk and import duty it will probably cost you more. you can get it delivered to yuor house from CS for about £360 and the HKS one is a copy, but there not ripples in the metal there grease prints from where people have been handling them. again there in the UK for less, but factor in fitting as it will need modifying. as for life expectancy, you get what you pay for, it may not last as long as the real HKS but it will probably do the same job. think of it as a performance exhaust built from standard materials i would say after 6 years it might need replacing or repairing.

no reason why not at least on the rear one trying to work out what the sides would look like black on a black background, you'd only see the zed outline, might work well Rear badge 1. Jay 2. hotrain 3. Scottsoulby 4. M350ZB 5. JT1703 6. Lexx 7.Jim 8. Blacky (black Zed) Side wing badges (carbon fibre background/gloss black/no background/something else) 1. Stew (gloss black) 2. hotrain (CF) 3. M350ZB (CF) 4. JT1703 (CF) 5. Blacky (black logo) front nose badge (carbon fibre background/gloss black/no background/something else) 1. hotrain (CF to fit indent) 2. 3. Wheel centres 1. M350ZB 2. Zazur 3.

hasn't arrived yet, ordered it and got an email saying they had non in stock so woulld have to order it in from japan, should take about 2 weeks from day of ordering, and then how ever long to post from uk to me. i think it should fit fine, but i think that it won't fit the facelift 350z. although mine is an 06 its technically an 05 that wasn't registered till 06 so i have the old style attatchemnts behind the cubby. i think it changed for the updated version but i could be wrong, my friend ekona looked into it but aparently the fixings are different. maybe someone else could back that up?

if i'd had the sapre cash i'd have had it, polished it and then sold my old one on for the same price to someone else so that it would have only cost me the materials to polish. and then some one else could have done the same. will have to wait till the next one pops up and i don't need to spend cash on other things like HID bulbs and birthdays

is this going to be the floating plenum? i.e. when alex finishes with it he'll sell his old one etc so people will have a spare to work on so the car doesn't need to be taken off the road. or does ZmanAlex have other ideas

thanks extrict, much appreciated.

have run my car for about 2 hours today and have been driving with the window down and the heaters on full. and about an hour ago i flicked the switch back over to cold and no odour or smell at all. i haven't run the AC yet so that might put moisture back into the system. but it looks like as long as you regularly heat out your vents it should keep it under control. will keep an eye on it and see how it goes.
-
have only noticed it since the hot weather has started and i've been running the cold blower no AC. so maybe running the hot blower for an evening might kill it all off. very rairly run the recuirculation, only tend to use normal.
-
i am noticing a bad odour in my car, and no its not me. if i run the aircon its fine, and if i run any heat its ok, but if i run the vents on normal but cold, i get a kind of damp stale smell through the vents, is this curable or will i smell for ever

i'm hoping when i go he'll defo do the rear badge, i'm hoping for the sides, and he might do wheel centres and possibly mock up a nose badge, but i don't need a nose badge, so if he does it will be up for grabs.

Carbon Fibre - ever had a go at it yourself?

How would you get a sexy smooth edge though, and not a cut flat edge that looks unfinished? I would want to achieve a smooth glossy finish on the edges that mirrors the surface. easy affter cutting, just wet and dry the edges and then polish. same as with plastics -
to be honest adrian, i think its the same for most people, until you can see a finished item you don't want to hedge your bets and fully understand. hopefully by the 18th i'll have lots of pics up and people will be able to make more informed choices.

the one of the front wheel 5th pic dowm looks like its picked up a chip on the rim on the right hand side middle of on of the segments just under where it says volks. you can see a white chip. hope its just a bit of dirt or something. those wheels look sweet by the way.
