  1. I have contemplated stripping an E46 M3...
  2. Thanks for the real mix of opinions guys. Really helpful and a bit of healthy debate is always good. Without meaning to sound like I'm ignoring advice and I am sure I would enjoy any of the suggested cars (MX5, MR2, etc), I'd still like to pursue the 350Z idea further. To put things into perspective, it costs me a small fortune to keep the Z4M on the road (£460 tax, £400-900 for services etc). I live at home, with a high disposable income and cars are my hobby. I'm not mechanic, but my friend (post name - papercutout) is good with a spanner and we'd be working on it together. I just got a new Scirocco as a practical daily from work, so I only pay fuel which is about 45-55mpg, rather than 18mpg in the Z4M. I've maintained the Z4M regardless of cost for 2 years now and it is expensive, but I've had the cashflow to keep it looked after as a daily. I appreciate that you can make a track car for a lot less with the MR2's etc, but the 350z is fun to drive and I would only be using it for a track day a month at most, possibly a trip to nurburgring and meets at most. I wouldn't be driving it daily either. I'm not looking to be the next stigg or set the fastest lap time in the world, but I am looking to have fun out there and deviate slightly from the norm.. Does this change anything or am I still mad to consider this little venture for fun..! The cars I would consider, but won't limit myself too included: 350z S2000 Classic Subaru Evo Cars which would make more sense and I'm not ruling out, but still aren't hugely exciting to me at the moment OR don't fit my requirements: MR2 Westfield BMW E36 VX220 Not sure if there are any others I should consider really.
  3. Yep, my aim was to see roughly how much weight I could lose on a Zed and handling (tyres, suspension). Then the next stage would be swapping parts for lighter parts. Then I would be looking to add exhaust, intake, plenum and remap (unless any new mods are on the scene...it's been a while?). Anyone else out there with a track Zed?
  4. Hi guys, I used to own a Kuro GT4 with Nismo goodies, loved the car. I then upgraded to a Z4M Roadster, which is probably the best car I'll ever own and I've had it 2 years. However, I just got a nice new Scirocco for a company car which is really cheap to run and therefore I barely use my Z4M - especially in this weather! I'm contemplating selling up my Z4M and sticking half the earnings into my house deposit fund, the rest I am thinking of buying a track car with as a project for next year. I'm looking for advice on using a 350z as a track car. I am thinking of spending towards the bottom of the market, then stripping it out. Sticking in racing seats, modding the suspension etc and putting some decent tyres on it. I expect to use it a few times a month for track days, meets, nurburg and drifting - but still being road legal. I guess the concern is that I'll hit a dead end in terms of increase in power, as the tuning route is quite narrow unless I supercharge. So I am looking for threads or advice from any members who currently do this. I remember back to a meet at Silverstone 3 years ago where I think MrLizard had just stripped a black 350z, but can't remember how much weight they shaved? I do miss this place too
  5. If you want to come along to the next one, lots of really decent chaps on there with decent motors. Take a peek, no different to a pistonheads meet, with the exception that there is a few too many BMW's there.... http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showth ... t=18129774
  6. Hi Nathan/Nrenz Told you I would post up on here, that Z4M is mine, now that my 350z is sold! Photos on the way....
  7. I just joined this club. 350z's gone now....I'm now a **** / bmw driver
  8. I agree, sorry mate. Seems like a waste imo!
  9. £100 for a popcharger = GRIN factor £200-240 for rear LED lights = transforms the rear £15 for a stubby (gets rid of Remote control car look)
  10. Out of interest...why are the suction mounts banned?
  11. I have both (cause of work and personal). The Iphone is simply superb and is miles ahead of my blackberry. You won't regret it if you get one.
  12. Why u going back to stock? what a pain get it all in they bloody pull it out!! shame really!! I'm probably going to trade my car in, so want to get it back to stock and keep/sell all my bits (shhhh, for sale thread coming up!)
  13. Calm down lads, it's not THAT bad. I know nothing about sound systems, did some research....bought the bits from that link. Spent probably 3/4 hours tops on taking the BOSE head unit, wiring up and replacing with an Alpine double din unit. This includes time spent on reworking the double din enclosure to fit the HU. It WAS frustrating, but it WASN'T hard/technical if you follow the guides However, I now need to return it back to stock......should be interesting!
  14. Any interest in your car Richard ? Mostly people who want to part ex (despite me saying no on the advert) or people who have pulled out of viewing. It's only advertised on Pistonheads so far, will stick it up on Autotrader at the weekend. I am reluctant to do so, as I would have rathered it go to somebody who is going to look after it off pistonheads (more enthusiast website). To be honest, I am still not in a rush as I haven't found the 'right' Z4M yet. I'll PM the bluetooth details to you s1xtyn1n3. Cheers and sorry for the thread hijack
