  1. i'm not a frequent washer, i probably clean the car once a month, i'll clay bar it twice a year and i only polish it if it looks like it needs it, i.e. if i can see scratches etc. i wax after every wash and i use the meguairs NXT car shampoo as it doesn't strip previous layers of wax. infact you can see my cleaning process in this thread, and it might help give you some ideas of what others do and what products are out there and the fin ish you get etc. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=25492
  2. i'd say the same, exhaust would be fine, but i wouldn't use the internals or the manifolds.
  3. i like the Meguairs 3 stage clean, its a wash, polish and wax set. a good midrange set and moderate price. its what i've started with and has given me an easy start to detailing and its been really good. when mine runs out i'm tempted to try an expensive hard wax, but must admit the megs stuff is good.
  4. must admit, japspeed does sound like ripspeed
  5. i like the look of there oil catch cans, some of there stuff i'd touch other bits not so much. they are a budget performance aftermarket company but never heard anything bad. as for bhp gains, all companies make optimistic gains, as you can get a rolling road to say what ever you want.
  6. thats the kind of thing i was looking at, either a satin black finish or hyper black (which looks like a metallic dark anthracite almost black)
  7. i have the prefacelift and its not bad, yes the facelift has little silver enhancements and a few things are moved to more logical places, but its not a massive difference. the quality is better in post 06 but for me personlly it wasn't something i was going to miss.

    05 or 06?

I wish i could find something of the same kind! I dunno if its me been specific with the Gun Metal colour yep i ignored colour in the end, i went for the best example with lowest miles for best price. had it down to a choice of 3 one black, one GM, one silver. i wanted black, but the silver was the better car. just depends on how important colour si to you. i was unsure about blade silver but actually the colour si very good and it changes with the weather, when its over cast it looks GM but when its really bright it looks almost white.

    05 or 06?

Good point yeah mines an 06, but its pre facelift, so i often look for parts and search as if it was an 05. but i got an 06 GT with 12,500 on the clock for £15,000 and that was last november, if that gives you a guide on price.
  10. i'm sure someone might throw you a few ideas on the car front, i would do but i'm washing my hair good luck with the search
  11. tad lazy, you may find your gratitude is not enough to get someone else to do all the leg work

    05 or 06?

yes at the moment, but within the next 18 - 24 months all Zeds after 2001 will be on the same
  13. those guys are very good, they are the popular choice on the FTO club if i remember rightly and its where alot of them get theirs done.
  14. its one of the big things behind this site and why most of us don't touch the main dealer. we have lots of traders on here and there numbers are growing as are the parts available from them.
  15. several have had re trims on here, and its much better to get the pros to do it for you, i think its roughly £450 for a leather re trim. might be less but not sure.
  16. i've always liked that sliver zed, lovely example. how exaclty did he mod his own hood?
  17. just spoke to rare rims, and they've been really helpful, only issue is that it would be a 3 month wait for them, which is more than i really wanted to go for on whats left of my stones. although i love those dyna's i'm serious about getting my rays resprayed. so what color do people think best suit the blade silver zed

    05 or 06?

i'd go for which ever was in the best condition with the lowest milage i have a 06 pre facelift GT and its good, i don't think the extra 20bhp makes that much difference. its slightly more noticable if you go for the latest with 309.
  19. the GT pack included: Rays alloys 18" Full electric, heated leather seats Cruise control Full bose 6 speaker sound system My advise would be by the best car you can find in the best condition with the lowest miles possible for the cash you have. lots of people with the GT's change out alot of the parts. -The wheels are fairly easy to source as people seem to sell them when upgrading (you could save the hassle and just upgrade to aftermarkets) -Seats can be recovered for about £450 and you can choose your own leather and any embossing, embroiding piping colors etc, all your miss is the heated seat bit, and i'm sure that could be added. -cruise control is good, but if you have a car in good nick then its a small luxury to loose. -sound system alot of people with the bose unit actually swap it out for aftermarket units, as they sometimes suffer with the odd problem. you could get your self a very decent aftermarket unit and new speakers at a good price and possibly have a better sounding system. just depends on what you want. try 2 versions and see what you really want
  20. do you think that a polished lip looks better than the ones with just hyper black to them?
  21. thanks sarnie, most direct. if i was to go this route, should i go for a polished lip or do you think it would look alright in hyper black with no polished rim. i've seen some deep dishes in satblack, but nit sure if i like it or not.
