  1. at work if a student struggles to spell as long as i can read it i let it slide, and maybe correct it if i feel it necessary. for some students; to many corrections can be disheartening. so i use the little but often technique. BUT if a student uses Txt language on their work i usually refuse to mark it; or rip it up
  2. i'm doing its first ever oil change next weekend, so will see what the colour is like then. i must admit i;d never thought of doing one its only until a mate said i should flush the engine as thats what their garage reccomends as mixing oils turn normal oil into sludge.
  3. i must admit i was going to use it in the Jag, but i have decided not too. its had regular oil changes on all service intervals, so i think the internals will be fine. i will open up then engine and have a peek just to check though.
  4. i've been have a discussion with different people about doing an engine flush. and i'm getting mixed responses so i was interested to see what others think on this forum. have had several people say that mixing oils is bad, produces gunk and the only way to clean it is an engine flush. then put in fresh oil others have said; engine flush is bad as it may not remove all deposits, and make it worse by then making the sludge move and block important parts, or that it leaves flush in the engine which is bad, or that it does clean the sludge, but then leaves parts unprotected. in my research i came across this i'm interested to hear other peoples thoughts, i've never done one on any of my cars, but as i've bought an older car with in some respects an unknown history; as you don't know what and when the previous owners/garages ahve used as the receipts just say oil.
  5. written so much better than i ever could and using less words as jed said above; i'm no chav, i'm dyslexic. minor errors can easily be over looked, txt speak is a no no.
  6. ebay, the source of all good bargain hunting think i paid about £25 for my Jag ones, but they are both 21" long
  7. How many people are double checking their posts on this thread; before submitting them

  10. agreed its the new supra and it appeals so much to the gran turismo generation who have grown up with it being the car to have. it is a great car and its going to attract all sorts of people; bloody hell even i had one
  11. my recent prchase is just like what your doing, ok its not a classic yet but hopefully a fuure classic. i went with a Jag XKR 2000 plate; its in good condition but it needs work to restore it to its full glory. i liked it as a project car as i can still use it daily while i work on it. and a big advantage is there are loads of parts new and 2nd hand for them. ebay is full of stuff and there are lots of other places as well; so parts aren;t mental. and as its OBD compliant i can still contect up to the car and read the problems. my list of to do jobs so far: Restore leather on drivers seat bolster replace all painted window trims remove and reseal drivers headlight repair a minor scratch to the wood on the steering wheel seal and wax oil the underside of the car wheel arches will need some work not major, but it will give me a chance to practice my spray painting more. front grille needs straigtening or replacing alloys need a refurb (still in a good stat but not 100% perfect) paint work needs a full clean and machine polish i'm currently cleaning the injectors might even do my own part service and do the sparks and oil going to do an engine flush improvements a future projects renew exhaust and also hand build one section to my own specification update all the bulbs re paint and clean the engine bay, things like painted rocker covers, make the supercharger shiney and polish the lettering etc replace all the engine bay bolts modify the satnav screen to run a carputer possibly lower the suspension upgrade SC pulleys for more power temporary change of air filter while i own it. (restore to original if and when i sell) maybe a light tint to the rear window and rear quarters fix what ever else goes wrong etc
  12. right this is where my geek hat gets well and truly welded to my head. i am a very avid fan of PIAA wipers; used them on the zed and the Stook and always been happy. my new car needs wipers and just out of interest i thought i'd do a little web research and see what i found. just to see if there was an auto test to prove that i was right with my choice even though they were a little more expensive than other makes. i found this http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/p ... _test.html the PIAA stuff was rated near the bottom and the new aero style ones seem to be the route forward. specifically the bosche areo twin and the Valeo Silencio X.TRM so i have just ordered a retro fit set of bosch aero twins to try them out. now if i'm honest my last set of PIAA seemed to drop in performance quicker than the last set. and i also wasn't that impressed with their screen protect which didn't seem as good as the rainex i use as well. so i've gone back to rainex fully and i'm also trying their rainex wiper fluid additive. the last thing i'll add is that wipers are great but they are at their best when combined with a good screen protect. i find that the water then beads off and you hardly have to use the wipers at all. this was very apparent when i drove my new car back which didn't have anthing on the screen and the wipers needed replacing. visibility was shocking. another screen protect that might be worth a try is duxback; i've seen it in halfords auto centre and this stuff has come from the aviation sector where they use it on aircraft windscreens. and apparently its meant to be better than rainex. but you have to go to the auto centre to have it appled, and at £30 i'm happy to stick with my rainex which came to £10 for the 2 bottles.
  13. not many places like that lego are an institution and its good to see they take ther reputation extremely seriously. nissan could learn a thing or too as well
  14. the CATS suspension is very good, so no wallowing in the corners. for me its a bit of a restoration, come dabble project. and allows me to get greasy with a car again.
  15. would you not be better off getting them ultrasonically cleaned and pulsed? yes; thats the next step if this doesn't have the desired effect. its just the difference in price thats all.
  16. It's what you do with them that counts i'm liking the wood didn't think i would but i do
  17. Here goes... think i'm about to jump in waist height here, or possibly up to my neck I am a teacher and dsylexic; admittedly not an english teacher; as i'd loose my job i'm that bad at writing. I rely heavily on technology to make up for my short falls, i get the students to help me spell some words when i get stuck. but my students are very understanding. They know i may not be the best at proper english; but when it comes to their practical work and technology they have someone who knows their subject inside out. I know that alot of the spelling mistakes in Attak's thread are mine; but since that time i think alot of the forum have come to understand i'm not a mong-tard; but just your regular standard retard instead and actually; i'm not that bad even though i can't spell or check grammar very well. and people have been very supportive/accepting of me and my foibles. but even i struggle when people write in txt on a forum. i don't feel i have a leg to stand on when people spell things badly, but the fact that i notice it, must mean its bloody shocking to you lot.
  18. sadly yes only 8 cylinders but a nice big supercharger on top thanks i am enjoying it
  19. sorry just being difficult. agreed it is more but not by much difference is about 10 p a litre between the 2; 70 litres = 7.00 so twice the price, but its a one off or once a year job. i've got what seems to be blocked injectors on cylinders 1 and 8, i ran some STP through on the long drive down and that cleared the code, but its not quiet right, so i'm hoping this stuff will finish the job as its apparently 18% better than the rest of the fuel additives out there. if that doesn't work, then i'll take the fuel rails off and get them cleaned by hand.
  20. i gave up my zed with ease, was like leaving an unwanted child at the orphanage. didn't bat an eyelid, but selling my S2000 and MR2 roadsters really pulled the heart strings.
  21. if you can fill up a 350z for 15 quid i'm impressed and yes super has some cleaning properties to it, but not to the level that this or other fuel system cleaners use.
  22. stange as it may seem tarmac doesn't supply everything on here it was me who organised the likwid art style ones. if you like them you can contact ro direct at likwid art and he'll sort you out.
  23. there are some nice kits out there, i might at some point use some parts from Arden, but its not my first priority with the car, and in some ways i'd actually like to keep it stock looking.
