  1. that satin black is lovely, almost has a leather look to it in real life. glad your happy with the material, sorry that the wrapping didn't go to plan, but excellent to see RTPerformance were able to help you out.
  2. i know of a good solid zed coming up for sale soon, which is newer and cheaper i think. pm me if you want to know more.
  3. short answer, yes Really? Why is that or is it been too long a day to explain? your bonnet is an enclosed area, almost like a sealed box, there is no where for the heat to go. so at speeds below say 40 mph there just isn't enough going in to do anything, at high speeds of about 70mph, then yes it will have an effect, but you'll still have heat soak. think of the heat coming from a tumble drier vent sealed in a large box, and then you blowing through a small hole. if the heat was leaving/cooling then yes the vent helps, but the issue is the engine is continuously heating the area. and in hot weather like this it make sit even worse. worst case scenario is you'll see the engine bog down in slow traffic. basically the engine sucks in a load of hot air and the engine stutters for a second.
  4. lol no worries, i had falkens on my s2000 and with a low profile i found them very good, i know others found them in stock sizes a bit soft. but with a thin profile and wide tyre i had them in XL and they were very hard side walls, and well balanced. 255/30/18 and 225/35/18 or something like that, i know it was a 30 and 35 profile. so pleased with them that i have in fact ordered some more for my jag 285/30/20 and 255/35/20
  5. in the words of monty python "Its waffa thin"
  6. which maxxis tyres did you fit? are they the MA z1 victra? be interested to know what you think of them. maxxis aren't brilliantly well known but they build good tyres, be interested to see what you think of them. i think they are going to be a bit like the next toyo/vredestein and turn out to be a popular tyre
  7. if you look in this picture, top right hand corner, you can actually see where i cut it out, and you can see the loom pass into and through the box.
  8. anything eclosed then, the typhoon is a good piece of kit, just make sure its fitted right, i had loom issues with mine, it earthed out one headlight and the horn, which meant the horn would randomly go off, or if you turned the headlights on the horn came on, and sometimes the light would spark at all and would need 3 turns to get the ballast to fire. turned out to be the corner of the typhoon wearing into the wire loom. cut the corner out, repaired the loom, job done. k&n filter is fine to use in the typhoon, i just changed mine to the apexi as i like the filter.
  9. ricey if you come to the next husky lads night, i'll happily give you a crash course and can tailor it to exactly what you want, i.e. what bits are what, what they do, what they do when they go wrong, what symtoms point in a rough dirrection at what, things to look for etc.
  10. i had the JWT and then the typhoon, and then i modded the typhoon. in short: JWT = more noise - down side lots of heat soak, loss of bhp Typhoon = slightly less noise than the jwt, but marginal, without a dyno its difficult to say, but i reckon i suffered less heat soak with the k&n felt like stock air box fitted really. modded typhoon = i fitted mine with an apexi cone filter as it gives the best gains but the most engine protection when it comes to filtration. also its a dry filter. more noise, felt bit more responsive. but this is all butt dyno, so not official. at the end of the day, your fishing around for the difference of 3-5 bhp, which makes sweet f all to the drive of the car. if you want more noise get something like the JWT, or do a modded typhoon. if you want bhp bragging numbers for the pub, get an 06 air box, or an airbox conversion kit, and drop a good panel filter in.
  11. Really good video on how a differential works, really well explained so that even a muppet can understand it, the beginning seems odd with the bikes, but it all pulls together.
  12. i learnt mine as i went along, had a problem i looked it up, searched for resolutions, tried them if it didn't work try the next etc, and its from there that i learnt where things are, what they do, how they work and how to diagnose issues and how to discard things because they wont fit the problem. basically what you're doing is the right method, its a learn as you go thing, my usual tip is if you buy a car, see if there is a haynes manual for it. if it is buy it and read it, alot.
  13. yeah you might need to come back early; I'm being a pain in the arse have a good one and i'll see you when you get back
  14. if people want me too i can look at getting these in for people
  15. i believe its standard fit on all UK GT cars
  16. any other issues before had, did you check the oil often? any funny noises or clunks before had? what ever the situation there are lots of solutions, if it does need a new engine shop around as there is plenty of choice and find whats the best deal for you. if your leeds way and can mange it i would try and get my car into falcon performance its a bit up the road, but they know the zed very well and should also be able to help source parts etc. very few places i would trust any of my cars to, but these guys are one of them.
  17. yes but not on the zed, had them on my 306 GTi6 years ago. they aren't bad, would put them on par with EBC stuff, similiar standard and quality. not as good as products like tarox, DBA PF etc
  18. is there an echo in here or just a parrot?
  19. yeah........ and 'buzzing' people doesn't sound dangerous at all. what for actually using the correct overtaking technique wow maybe i should under take like the other geniuses on here. ok so small gaps maybe isn't the best idea, but its not like i pull infront and slam on the anchors, Highlighted the bits that seem dangerous to me in red. I drive defensively so this seems unnecessarily aggressive to me. Maybe it's just exaggerated a bit to look cool.... i read the road a long way ahead of me if its heavy traffic i use my judgement on manouvers, i have enough drive sense to know when and what is appropriate. 12 years driving and a clean licence should speak enough for itself
  20. wow a thread title change as well, any one would think he was trying to sell the car on the forum or something
