  1. I had the same, it managed 1 MOT with flying colours, next year was just over and the final year before I went full TDX it failed completely. They aren't very good at making high flow cats if you ask me.

  3. Truth. I remember taking a ride with an ex-Carrera Cup GB champion, and his control (not speed) was absolutely out of this world. He had a 911 doing things I would never have imagined. This^^ I had a VIP track day at Thruxton years ago and was assessed by an ex racing driver. At the end of my instruction he said "Lovely smooth drive, great car control but not very fast, are you a police driver?" He then took me round and proceeded to scare the living he'll out of me Totally different league. This, this, this ^^^ I was 18 and for my birthday treat from my parents they paid for a full day session learning how to Rally! At the time I was a proud owner of a Escort MkII which had been modified by the previous owner, so was a bit 'boy racer'ish'. Turned up to the Rally day and they were using a Escort MkII totally stripped and caged with a 2.0 pinto! For me this was a relief as only being fairly young to the motor world I would feel at home with the Escort. The day was great... thought I was doing amazing up until the lunch time "let the instructor show you how it goes" laps! Holy mother of god! How the hell did he manage to brake so hard on gravel!! How is he cornering so hard, the control, speed and noise! I felt like a school boy taking my first lesson in the passenger seat! He was braking THAT hard, pretty much all my weight was on the foot plate in the passenger footwell. This for me was defying all levels of driving and physics! It taught me a thing or two that's for sure.
  4. Yes, Mr Keyser drove my Zed from Dorset to Banbury, which should have been 1.5hrs and took 3 due to 4 road closures! He was happy as Larry enjoying my freshly built V8! I was in awe of my own Zed, and loved every minute of it, even though I wasn't driving!
  5. Dude, just PM Tim - he will sort something out. Leave him your number a convenient time to call and he will sort for you. Listen, if they can insure me, they can insure you! It took many days to get me insured trust me!
  6. Why not PM Tim above, they worked some serous magic to insure a custom build transplanted V8. A lot of hoops had to be jumped through, paperwork, referrals etc. Not only that, but they wouldn't insure me unless they were confident the work was done to a specific standard. They have never failed to insure me, with specifics such as merging a modified and un-modified policy into a multi car policy. It might take a few days, but leave them to work something out for you.
  7. Prestige insure me..... you can't say I'm a modification free zone. I've been with Prestige (Mulsanne) for 9 years.
  8. Wouldn't say no to an invite for next year
  9. Just up the game a little.....
  10. Cheers John, I was hopeful for opportunity to use it although Emerald managed to get my oem gauges to work without issue. I must admit I was rather impressed with the screen and the options to add additional functionality - such as the track stuff. Also it's no unreasonably priced new either.
  11. I'm afraid the spacers sold this morning, just about to update the post. If you were to buy a set used or new, they will more than likely come with the necessary hub nuts to affix.
  12. And example fitted. *** SOLD*** HKS Red Oil Cap - in great condition, ready to fit! £30 Delivered. Pic fitted Finally - and the chances of selling here maybe slim, but I'll pop it here for a few weeks, and if not I'll sell on eBay. Race Technology Race Dash 2 - Price £600 delivered (Technically brand new and never fitted paid £850 originally - will be insured when shipped). Some blurb from their website: The DASH2 is one of Race Technology's most sought after products whether the application is for competition or road vehicles. It is a clear market leader in price and performance. The DASH2's construction is of the highest quality with an aluminium frame and military spec connectors, so it is suitable for both open and closed top vehicles as well as motorcycles. Below are some of the main features of the DASH2, click on the relevant hyper-links for further information. Custom LCD panel dashboard display, clearly visible under any light condition Water resistant for open top or motorcycle applications Compact and slim, easy to fit Suitable for any engine installation with a fully configurable RPM scale Optimise your gear changes with the configurable ultra bright shift lights Road legal, everything required for an MOT or SVA testing including tamper proof odometer, backlit display and mandatory warning lights. Lap and sector time display using a separate data logger Easy integration with other Race Technology products Stand alone operation. Connect up to 4 engine or gearbox sensors as well as RPM and wheel speed Display information directly from your ECU using our CAN or serial interface* Monitor your engine and display high/low alarms for any parameter. Gear position indicator. Calculated or using a gearbox sensor User selectable units MPH/miles or KPH/km Display the information you want to see with 5 user defined screens Control the DASH2 and a data logger with the external button set (optional) Easy to use configuration software This comes with a CAN Adapter for a Emerald K6 ECU - which is likely to be completely useless to you unless using this ECU. The correct CAN for a 350z/370z or what ever you fit this to can be purchased directly from Race Technology Ltd. Also included is the VRS Signal Conditioner - details below: A VRS Signal Conditioner takes the unconditioned output from a Variable Reluctance Sensor (VRS), eg: an ABS wheel speed pickup, which is a noisy sine wave and outputs this as a clean square wave signal (similar to the output from a Hall Effect type sensor), suitable for connection to a DL1, DL2 or DASH2. It can also divide the pulse frequency by a number between 2 and 32. Typically ABS sensors read a wheel with many slots, which gives a high frequency signal. By dividing the number of pulses the signal is better suited for use with a DL1, DL2 or DASH2. The unit can also be used with a hall effect sensor to divide the pulses. The VRS signal conditioner can be used to condition the VRS signal, divide the pulses coming from a wheelspeed sensor or both. Comes with all necessary wiring untouched and still in the original bags. I appreciate this is likely to be for somebody with a track car of some sort. Thanks
  13. Sounds like a coil pack breaking down. I had 4-6 months of "intermittent misfire" which wasn't flagged as a EML issue, i.e. Light on, but was stored in the history of logged faults. Then one day car was lumpy as you point out, stopped the car restarted and all fine. Finally the offending coil pack will eventually totally stop working. Get a code reader on to see if there are any logs. I got hold of a low mileage coil pack for cheap and sorted the problem. It's finding the offending coil pack unless logged as Cylinder 1,2,3 etc....
  14. Missed this... My vote would be the 159, and I see perfectly why Clarkson, May and Hammond love Alfa's. I have the 159 saloon 2.4 JTDM, love the damn thing! Took a risk and bought one with 60k on the clock 2007 for £4,800 two and a half years ago. Up until 2 weeks ago it didn't cost me a penny (tyres and service) to run up 70k miles. Recent turbo failure @131k miles has made a bit of a dent in my running costs. Although she's a dream to drive 200bhp and 300 lbft of torque. A great sleeper for motorway cruising and tickling the back door of those motorway beemers! Fantastic interior, power AND economy is great, and yes I'm averaging 49mpg for my 160 miles daily commute. If I had to give a negative opinion it would be the corners! Although since getting my Zed back it's probably this that's made me feel cornering in the Alfa is like a sack of spuds falling off a child's roundabout. There's a huge number of Alfa bargains out their, where the prices are low due to historical theory that Alfa's will break every single day. They won't, considerably different to yesteryear. The SAAB forget it, a guy at work has two, both are continuously in the garage or breaking down at the side of the road.
  15. Kim said you were *special* I'm yet to work that one out.
  16. Maybe advertise some of the benefits, where it was made, how much it cost originally, there's no real marketing on this....... For me, the one gain would be the WEIGHT savings! Difference from OEM to this would be a good idea to market your exhaust.
  17. Dodo Juice Supernatural I used to use.
  18. Got it! http://www.kleers.com/the-metal-polish
  19. Nah not the obvious Autosol believe or not, aggressive! It was a grey cream, I'll hunt it down.
  20. For light oxidation I used to use a tube of metal polish, tried loads over a period of time, although some give a cloudy finish post polish. There was one (and I'm really not being helpful here) was amazing, great polish and no clouding, but cannot for the life of me remember which one it was. Although, once you have a clean and polished plenum, you must use carnauba based wax. Forget anything other than carnauba!
  21. It's fine trust me, used wax for a couple of years with no issues. Think of the wax on the exterior of the car on a blazing hot summers day. The wax creates a nice seal on the plenum, resists moisture, and withstands the temperatures. I never tested clear coat on a plenum, although tested the theory on a polished strutt bar. The clear coat flaked and came off eventually. Polish the plenum, seal with 2 coats of carnauba wax. Wait 24hrs between wax applications. Each time you wash the car add one coat of wax. That's what kept my plenum oxidisation free.
