  1. Bought mine when the midlife crisis began at 29.
  2. Driving east on the A421 at Bedford this morning a black standard looking 54 plate 350Z overtook me, then a few minutes later we wer driving through Cardington towards Sandy and passed a gun metal DE 350Z with red seats. Unusual to see any others but 2 others within 2 minutes was very unusual!
  3. I got my '04 plate with GT Pack for £3800. OK it's high mileage (127k) from commuting on the M3 every day for the past 5 years but the only issue was a wheel bearing needed replacing. Cost me just over £200 to replace. Apart from that the old girl seems solid and touch wood, everything works! There are some bargains out there, finding them seems to be the challenge!
  4. I think you'll have to email or call Torqen on the address/number in his signature, he's banned from posting here at the moment.
  5. It's like a clear lacquer that you just paint over the top. In OE production it's sprayed on over the polycarbonate lens.
  6. I develop headlamps for an OEM so have spent a lot of time talking about yellowing head lamps! The cause is solely UV and nothing to do with the heat, you can see the same if you look at shed windows anywhere in the country. The only real fix at the moment is to polish the lens back to clear and then coat it with a UV resistant hardcoat. I guess a wrap would work but would probably be no better or less time consuming to apply than giving the lamp a good clean and then applying new hardcoat.
  7. Welcome aboard, I made a similar move from a mk1 mx5 to the Zed and haven't looked back. The only things I miss about the '5 were its sheer nimbleness and agility on a tight and twisty road as well as the controlable behaviour at the limit (used to use mine for autosolo's) the zed is a bit of a different beast!
  8. Those wheels do look great, I'm seriously considering something similar with mine now. Damn you!
  9. I bought some parts off them for my last car and had no trouble, service was good and quick. I'm pretty sure they used to sponsor the British drift championships too.
  10. When's the website going to be up and running Adrian? I know I need to buy some stuff, I just don't know what I need to buy yet!
  11. Mine with its predecessor. Both fun but in completely different ways.
  12. I design stuff for an OEM. Mostly I work on headlamp design and am lucky enough to get to travel the world (been to Japan twice and many other countries too) as well as driving competutor cars and prototypes for evaluation on the public road and test tracks. Much as I bitch and moan it's not a bad job really.
  13. My wife took mine to work and got called into the MD's office mid morning as he wanted to ask her about it. The same day she got berated by a colleague for driving a car "like that" in her condition (29wks pregnant).
  14. Don't bother waxing them, you need to put a UV protective hardcoat layer on them or the polycarbonate will turn yellow again before you know it.
  15. Interesting how many people are getting rid of their Zed because a sprog arrival is imminent. When I bought mine my wife was 25 weeks pregnant and she test drive it too, we have a family A3 if all 3 of us go somewhere but if it's just one of us plus baby then we can take the zed. One of the few times man logic genuinely beat woman logic!
  16. I ran an mx5 all last winter, the 350Z will be positively luxurious in comparison as my daily car. Although I imagine it will also be a little more scary/exciting/silly!
  17. If you're still after one swiftyy my old one is also on eBay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/262075658132 Selling cos I bought one of them 350Z things!
  18. Enjoy, it's a fantastic country that I've been lucky enough to visit a few times courtesy of my employer. Tokyo and Yokohama are fascinating places as is the countryside towards Hakone and into the mountains around Mt Fuji, I've still never made it to the famous Hakone turnpike road though... Next time! Fun fact, if you have an international driving licence and visit the Nissan HQ in Yokohama you can test drive loads of cars including the GT-R.
  19. Yep almost certainly air con condensation. Nothing to worry about there.
  20. I've got some HDR pics of my completely standard DE engine bay like you're after, if you pm your email address I'll send them over. Files are too big to post on here.
  21. Interesting that others get let out of junctions, there must just be a bunch of miserable sods living near me then!
  22. So I've had the 350Z a few weeks now and I'm slowly getting used to the car and the differences between a lightweight mx5 and a big heavy girl with lots of grunt. What's fascinating is the reactions I get driving it most notably:- -Nobody will let me out of a junction now. (Always used to in mx5) -Nobody says thanks when I let them out of a junction/past a line of parked cars. (Always used to in mx5) -People turn and look at the car (not so much in mx5) -Some kids shouted 'awesome car' at me earlier, so as I was in 1st gear I said thanks in a suitable fashion... (That definitely never happened in the mx5) Does anyone else get funny reactions when driving the zed? I can only assume the junction and thanks things are because people who don't know cars think I'm a flashy bastard in an expensive sports car without realising it cost me less than 1/3 the cost of their 1.4 Focus/Astra/yawnbox. Of course kids saying it's awesome is clearly just because the zed is an awesome car!
