  1. Well I've thrown in the towel on this one, car now booked in at Hdev for the Berk HFC treatment
  2. I would have gone back in and tried to get a grand off, that would have perked the sales guy up a little
  3. I had this last week with mine. Had both cats replaced then a day later the light came on. Diagnostic stated the post cat sensor bank 2 was at fault and indicated the cat was defective. After clearing the fault and cleaning the sensor plug contacts its not returned. I also checked for gasket leaks on the cat but found nothing. Now my light came on when the car was rather hot after a long journey nor when first starting out. The old cats were original and had done 80k miles but we're still functioning ok. I replaced them with some mint clean 35k jobs.Im hoping the contact clean has done the trick regarding the management light.
  4. Ignore this post please I have my answer
  5. I'm ex job so yes they do welcome Intel from members of the public.
  6. I had the pads and disc's changed 6 months ago on the brembos and it would appear the pads are moving in the caliper. Annoying clunk when stopping from reverse the another when moving forward again. This annoys me greatly so any suggestions on pads that actually fit would be nice
  7. Since clearing the codes the check light had not reappeared. I wasn't convinced the cat was faulty as it was off a 30k mile car and very tidy. The light came on after a long drive initially so I'm thinking it's possibly heat expansion on the gasket causing an air leak. Since then I have only done short journeys and no light as yet.
  8. Always best to call in on 101 if you find a crashed vehicle unoccupied. Obviously dial the 9s if there are casualties there and it's a recent RTI. The vehicle could have been stolen or being driven by someone under the influence etc so letting the police know is the correct course of action.
  9. Lol no I decided against it in the end as I'm having a brief fling with a VX220 instead this year.
  10. I always drool when passing the garage in Pangbourne.
  11. Well I saw this again yesterday at my indy. She's a 54 plate with 06 headlights and the turbo is located behind the engine block. It's a nice car indeed.
  12. I'm going to get under the car today and try to rule out any exhaust leaks post cat. Seems odd to me a cat with 35k miles on has failed.
  13. Nah time for some HFCs I think. Well in a few weeks. I'm just going to continue driving it until then as the cats already knackered. The irony is the old cat on that side was ok before I changed them over
  14. Well I've got a cat efficiency issue bank 2 nearside. Cats probably knackered replacing the sensor won't help by the look of it. Bank was peaking and dipping continuously on the machine read out.
  15. Well I've replaced both my bannana arms and drop links ad still have a knocking over bumps. Very annoying. There is also a knock if reversing and coming to a halt. It may be related.
  16. One of the cats that came off had a hole in it. It sounds sealed now the replacements are on so I reckon it's the sensor from the holed cat that's gone. We shall see
  17. If the sensors are shot I'm fitting them myself anyway
  18. Well I tried the reset no issues. A brief drive and the light reappears. Also she's running lean and drinking fuel. Time for a visit to my indy for a code read tomorrow. Also I now have a poxy knock from the front when coming to a standstill after reversing. Possibly just a heat shield but damn annoying.
  19. Cheers mate. Yeah I will get the codes read just in case and change the sensors in a few weeks if that's the case.
  20. Standard cats with 35k miles on them mate.Car drives fine so I'm not to fussed.
  21. Has the DE got a pre and post Cat sensor set up. I've had the cats replaced and used the old sensors and now the lights come on. I'm thinking it's the sensor purely because the car still drives fine. Any input welcome
  22. The first clip is another common example of impatience and self perceived territory hogging by another motorist. The merc driver is the impatient one who's driving will annoy others whilst the Renault driver is attempting to do himself and the others in the queue a favour. Neither motorist is really in the right here because battling for territory isn't a responsible attitude and can escalate into silliness very easily. The second clip clearly shows a professional driver trying to maintain territory based on the perception the caravan vehicle is trying to cut in. He should really have let the vehicle in and been courteous. It may have been a genuine mistake by the other driver not a deliberate act of impatience and the trucker is using the size of his vehicle to bully. Merging in turn in principle is a good idea but only works well if both lanes pinching into one are travelling at the same relative speed. The trouble occurs at the point where one lane is stationary whilst the other is occupied by faster moving traffic. The perception of those that are stationary is that of queue jumping which annoys people. The most efficient way to keep moving is for vehicles to start merging 200 plus yards from the closure. It's courteous to attempt to merge as early as possible as single file traffic at the point of lane closure does move more quickly. It was a common tactic of ours to get stationary queues moving by rolling slowly in one lane forcing people to merge earlier and freeing up the bottle neck at the point of road closure.
  23. I just popped in to get some bits and I must say the colour of the car and the interior is now my fave combo after seeing it in the flesh. What size rotas are they mate?
