  1. Yeah I'll try get along sometime this year. bit hard to plan when. Any bikers on here been? I've been too chicken to take the bike but they have a free bike only day there 2nd April so currently looking at making plans for that one.
  2. This is great to see. Keep up the good work Tesla and the future looks good as the rest follow the lead! This technology is my M25 dream as it's a necessary rule to allow at least an extra hour to make any journey on that road as this situation is regular to come across so I have to include crash hold up time. Not only just the unlucky minimum 2 cars directly involved will be saved this is a huge benefit as the countless number of indirectly affected cars that then get held up in both directions as a result and the huge cost in lost time and resources.
  3. ahahaha awesome! Coincidentally I saw the 370z love/hate thread and it got me thinking I would like the line lock feature so had just made the enquiry into options around getting this one for a 370z with an Ecutek!
  4. 2007: Was riding a 2003 BMW F650 CS I had in the garage at parents house a 1976 LX 2 door Holden Torana(not running due to taking on a kerb and losing) At that time I had fully rebuilt, disassembled/reassembled to tidy up everything and then modernised it as much as it needs to be where I put in an electronic distributor and seats from a Supra. 2017: I'll still have the Torana - have it roadworthy and maybe add a blower to 350 chev. maybe still have my current model fairly modified 2013 zx6r. (no intention to sell) maybe still have the 370z (no intention to sell) New addition! Tesla model S P???D.
  5. I can give you 2 success stories. Well, in my opinion i've been successful ahahahaha others may not agree. I did a wood machinist apprenticeship in my teens to early 20's then threw it in to move to other side of country with the girlfriend at the time. Bummed around for a year or so, mainly surfing and playing quake 2. Did some labouring on building sites for a bit but wan't really into it. Figured out what I wanted to do for work through govt training program and got a job in computer software. Did that for 9 years. Round 2. Threw that job in as it got boring. I did a bit of organsing in advance as far as: Got my ancestry visa sorted out. Rode motorbike Sydney-Perth. Got a 1 way ticket to Germany, the motogp there and travel insurance. Had a lot of fun in the sun over Europe for the Summer. Went to London for a winter, had lots of fun and then got a job around Easter, around about 9 months after quitting. Same job role this time though. So far so good. I'd say it's been fairly successful. seen and done a lot of stuff and currently one of those privileged few who have a Z.... so it's not too bad. At the moment round 3 is kind of coming up.... My current career is coming to a crossroads. cloud computing is changing IT landscape. Meaning my Job as it has been won't last forever and so I'm having to make a choice. adapt to suit, make a full change, stay for a bit and try think about it, put head in sand and ignore until it's too late and I'm forced to take a work direction by someone else or just get dumped..... I figure I wasn't put on Earth to do a single job and for life. Everyone's pretty much the same so you could do any job out there. I also like the unknown and unstable and find it more exciting than taking it as it comes. It makes you work harder and gets things done that wouldn't otherwise happen.
  6. Current situation is not an option. I think you gave the the answers in the first couple posts, saying you are not in control and you can fix this if drive like a granny where who is better suited to the tyre performance level and driving behaviour/expectations. Regularly unintentionally losing control on suburban streets is going a bit too far on the dangerous side. If you're running 19's I am replacing my what I think they were the factory issue: 2011 41k mile RE050's this week so there's some free fronts going - the fronts have a bit of life in em I think. I'd have to check. But the rears are dead. Or if anyone else wants them. I'm replacing with MPSS all round.
  7. Same goes for all cars, a warranty or rainy day fund is a must have. I've been there with the warranty situation, I have a 2011 manual, got it 2 years ago with I think about 29k miles. It came from the original dealer, it was back from the original owner and came with the factory 12 months cared4 warranty. Lucky for me because just short of 12 months later and while getting the mot and service done, shifting into 6th gear had a meltdown! It would occasionally play up before that point but I didn't realise it was an issue and thought it was me being a sloppy shifter. Suspect it was because the previous owner used to drive in 6th with hand on the shifter. This wasn't a cheap fix. And I can see it as a good thing it happened. It means that now I've had a repair done by a GTR specialist and also have the comfort of knowing the box has been inspected which isn't feasble while buying a car, I was also able to justify to myself having an improved clutch put in while the work was being done.
  8. It feels like a bit of a silly question but: I'm attempting to fit an Eibach sway bar to the front. I can't undo the end bolts to remove the original issue bar. Are they really that difficult? I've managed to get the undertray and bushes bolts off or loose. I have no jack and am using a standard home tool kit length socket onto it.=not much leverage from the ratchet. I have sprayed the bolts with gt85 shortly before but neither will move. Is it simple as getting a longer ratchet or pipe onto the existing one to extend it? Any other tricks? The local garage quotes an hour or so, £50 and I'm booked in in case it won't move on my next attempt but I like to think I can get this one done myself.
  9. I had same problem. And a fix that sounds like it would work for you also as you say it's disk. I did the v10 upgrade when it came out. On a cheapest at time 6 year old laptop that came with Vista. It survived the 7 upgrade at the time but couldn't handle 10. I replaced the hard drive with an SSD and it immediately and a year or so later on still runs faster than a couple years old standard spec laptop and up there with a new high spec laptop.
  10. I'm told same, that taxes really puts the costs up here. And for sure they love it here though. At the event one of the Lambos was one of the most customised I've ever seen. On the street, most of the Almeras have Nismo spoiler kits and there are so many TRD Toyotas! Maybe not everyone has the newest car but it seems like almost everyone has non standard wheels and body kits!
  11. yep the Tyre tech is mad! I'm running the grooved Dunlop D211's at the moment on the bike. The same tyre comes in both grooved to be road legal and slicks for the track. They are pretty slippery in the cold though! For me on my bike v car - both decent range performers: new zx6r v 370z? For sure I'm slower on the bike in places like the crazy mountain driving roads in Wales where the danger is high and so same goes for unknown and poor condition roads where you don't get the safety and bad road buffer a car gives. On the track I think I'd go better on the bike because of the extra get up and go, braking and having no wasted space so being able to make better use of the track.
  12. Do it! You're making the right decision LMFAO! That one was the final choice for me when it was 370z buying time. Car won only because I had a new zx6r already. And the fact that the H2 is just too crazy! I've still only seen 1 out there, a few months ago going through Trafalgar square. The current PB magazine review has the H2R in the sports bike of year and they still can't find words to describe how good it is. But they do mention a 15 hour service interval! Dunno if that's same for H2?
  13. On holiday in Malaysia, was being driven around the city and we were taking a look where the High Court is and it was a bit busier there than normal on a Saturday night so we got out to take a look.... Turns out it's KL Supercar Drag Race night! By far the most popular and around more than 1/4 of cars were r35's! looking like from stock to wild, and with a whole lot of pops bangs and launch modes going down! They lined up the Lambo, Porsche and Ferrari guys against them to have a go and get some lessons Can't say it was exclusively supercar though, and it would have have been better if the guys who brought their mum's amg, vw and 's' audi's leave them at home.
  14. It's the original and the best! Of all the cars last weekend at Tunerfest S the only one I felt I had to take a picture of was of a replica Godzilla.
  15. Agree and it's not just domestic, I was looking up the most popular Australian newspaper to see what they make of it on this one. It made for some interesting thoughts about the view of the outcome and the flow on position they'll take from it. Australia is a Commonwealth country but it's got a large European background and also has the proximity to Asian in distance and the people to make it a bit more interesting. Economically Europe and Asia are more significant to Australia than the U.K. Maybe Australia will consider it's options similarly to the way Scotland has and may do again. Australian Newspaper view on the situation is that it's a big ugly mess: http://www.watoday.c...624-gprfml.html The situation gives a push to an Australian republic, newspaper view: http://www.smh.com.a...626-gps7ra.html Having said all that, I prefer how Australian voting is compulsory. I also think the whole situation isn't something that should have been put to a vote it's above the level of the citizens. The closest we had was a Commonwealth in/out a while back. It wasn't quite as close but nowhere as ugly. I'm ok to hand those decisions over to the leaders and not to the people. In the same way that Big brother, X factor, BGT, Mcdonalds win the popularity contest that's not to say they are the best for quality product or living conditions. I don't claim to be involved in or have any interest in government level international country to country trading type activities so think that any vote on my part there shouldn't be counted as it's just opinion which would have in this case come from extremely dubious opinionated sources and so is just cheap talk and easily changeable or denyable. Easily the best information all got from both sides I've seen is from this site.
  16. Indeed. I'm fairly pro-immigration, but I'm certainly not up for a free for all. Yes, I don't support a free for all but one of the main problems as I see it is the success of the U.K economy, if we weren't doing so well then the country wouldn't be so attractive, a sort of catch 22 situation. It would seem to me that one of the fears that many have is that the country will be less British but history doesn't support that, for example anyone who visits The United States will know how patriotic they are (flags in gardens) yet the U.S had millions and millions of immigrants who rapidly assimilated into the country, pretty much the same for Australia and Canada, anyone remember assisted passages BTW? I'm a great believer that people should not be restricted to the country of their birth, In fact I think that humans should be able to move around the world freely rather than being stuck in the lump of land they happen to be born in (I'm quite a dreamer at times ) I realize that this just isn't remotely feasible and probably never will be. Pete You're not a dreamer! The advance of technology makes this more feasible as we go. In the past many issues were simply not an option due something as cheap and accessible now as long distance travel. Looking further, In an advanced society there is a galactic alliance and they look back on 20/21st century humans and don't believe or understand how there was the culture of destructiveness to the environment and anger to others. I learned all this I know from Star Trek. Which isn't so far fetched. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, save the whales! So looking at it that way, EU was a step in that direction. On the other side, because of these technologies and changes it's hard to regress and stay there and to what level/point in time is acceptable and ideal for leave? Modern technology for travel and communications for citizens and prevalence of multinational businesses makes the world smaller so it's a hard one to hold back or return to. I'm one of those worst of all type immigrants - Father from Commonwealth colony, Mother from UK parents and then born and raised in another commonwealth country. And at the end of it ended up here in some sort of crazy full circle type movement! I'd say I've had a pretty good life thanks to the U.K's pioneering spirit to get out there more than any other nation to start with and then taking people, ideas, acceptance from all over the world which has given the country so many good things over others and makes it such a great place today that would be far poorer culturally had it not have happened. Being in the EU holds a lot of doors open in many ways, none of which I see as detrimental I see this country as having a lot to give.
  17. I went to this. Saw a big fat 0 count of 370z's both inside and the carpark! A few nice 350z's were there. Highlight was seeing a replica Godzilla. It's a special car that made it's mark in those couple of years. And I prefer the Ford/Holden v8 format that followed it. I saw recently that they may be making a comeback! hope not. Also worth going was seeing the LaFerrari, what a masterpiece like nothing else up close and also whoever was driving it was a deserving owner or driver if I ever saw one. Not holding back and showing everyone how to drive a car properly, lapping the others out there including r35's! I was excited about the drift demos but were pretty average and not worth getting excited about. Are there any events like Summernats here? Best car event I've been to.
  18. I've asked myself the same question. Always ends up that I should hold out until I can get an 80's 911(dream world) or an HSV/SS Commodore or give it up completely or go the Clio. As far as I could figure in my view, the less price and up there for fun and quick options are a motorbike or sports Clio. Without the compromise of going older and losing out on tech and comfort. The Supra looks, goes, and is rare and cool as a Z, similarly for Celica. WRX took the place of the GTR for a few years redefining what's possible, as well as having the continuation of evolution. Take a 1 way ticket to Australia or America and then take your pick of v8's. Not a lot of options out there for comparable history and bang for buck the Z can't be beat.
  19. I've just had this same problem as described in original post. Exact same symptoms hit me at 33k miles. I've done 6000 since owning it and don't know previous history. I had cared4 warranty cover. Phew! and so many thanks to Sly at Kaizer it's all too easy to get sorted and I'm back on the road The clutch and flywheel were also on their way out so I said hello to an xtreme clutch kit being put in while it's there!
  20. LMFAO Pizza and bakeries it is then! I do the same routines with my friends here who are like you. I brought 10kg lidl vintage cheddar over for my mate who lives here as it's not on the menu here. Look on the bright side, the pizza and bakeries and beer and spirits are so cheap! Good for me too, Im just eating sushi, 1/4 UK prices!
  21. I'm there now! 370 count is 0 Seen a gtr... In the shop. A few 350s... 1 in the snow at hakuba , very impressed! And to top it off, an nsx!!! In a carpark on the noto peninsula where I am now! That made my holiday, seeing that superstar!
  22. Haha ok thanks for that, my puny brain can only take so much and being around 3 Godzilla's and a 350 at the time was way overloading me so I couldn't take that in. The 370 is back there now getting some more stuff dealt with and so I got a ride in it. after that experience given a choice of small car I'd get one. And a tesla for my big car.
  23. Impressive, I saw it was fitted with snow tyres but I dunno how the snow tyres would go on a z but this shows it's doable.
  24. childish?! The monaro is about as good a mans car as you can get, muscle cars like this aren't for kids! Build would be hugely reliable as it's built on the Commodore, the standard issue man's car in Australia which has been around forever Even more so for the block, american muscle. Plus it's rarer than the Z here. I haven't been in one of these particular ones but have been in friends cars who have had Maloo and the clubsport which you could say are similar and they are huge fun for being a passenger in and looks and noise making.
