If TwoBears and / or husband have worked hard to become 'comfortable' then good luck to them I say.
-
TwoBears - if you eldest is only 21 then you really are not old!! And if only 52 - still a spring chicken like myself. I drive a very bright orange car. I do get some funny looks from young drivers but that is only because they are jealous and probably saying 'what is that old fart doing in that car' but who cares I lost a very good friend last year, he was 48, massive heart attack with no warning whatsoever and kept himself in quite reasonable shape. It shocked me and made me realise that you have to live your life NOW. If you love the 4C, can get into and out of it, and can afford it then go for it. It is a one of the only cars I would be tempted to change my 350Z for. Would we get a discount if we bought two? Chris

I was a proud Dad yesterday. My rescue Border Collie (Mad Max) won his first dog show - Best rescue and biscuit catcher. Unfortunately I missed the show since I was waiting in for Autoglass to turn up to replace the windscreen on my wife's car - and when they did turn up (late) announced that they thought they were doing a repair and had no windscreen. Not happy!

Thanks for the advice. Will have my 13 year old with me so will be taking it very easy. Nothing like kids to quell the testosterone.

Watched a few youtube clips of the triangle last night with my son. There were some drivers going clockwise and anticlockwise at the same time - in a spin! Saw one of a Civic Type R - how the heck he held it on the road I don't know. Just luck I think.
-
Never been around the triangle but will head up there tomorrow so my son can get some good 'action shots'. Anyone know the best place to park up for the best shots (plus video) or best to just meander around with several stops? Will head down to the Moreton afterwards to have a look at some fine looking Z's.

TT Owner thinking of a Z
Ponsonby replied to HollowmanVIII's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
I also had a 225 TT Mk1 and much prefer my 350Z. The TT never quite felt like an involving drive although I liked the style and quality of interior. If you can stretch to it, go for an HR version of the 350Z. The interior of the newer cars is better than the earlier cars so will not be such a shock going from the TT. -
I agree with your comments - both her and Wilson spoil what may be a good car programme. They are both incredibly 'wooden' when presenting. Jodie does appear more relaxed and interesting when doing the features though so there is hope.

I usually watch the first few laps, have a snooze (its my age), and then wake up for the last few laps. Sometimes when I awake it is like I only dozed off for a couple of seconds. And what happened to Suzi - seems to dress very frumpy.....

I am usually concentrating on my driving and often see another 350z too late to wave.

Hi All, My son wants some RGB LED strips for his bedroom. Has anyone bought any recently that they can recommend? They seem quite expensive from the likes of Maplin but am a little concerned about some of those offered very cheaply on Amazon and Ebay. A 5M strip is around £10 from Amazon /Ebay but around £40 to £50 from Maplin etc. Thanks, P

Crb - what is it you sell again? Oh floors - got it.

Stupid gold chain and taking the pi$$ out of Arnie. I like Lewis but hope that he doesn't disappear up his own ar$e.
-
Me too Oh, hang on - already got one

Hmmm. Same problem here but fortunately they did not mention the 4007 4x4 that I have as family / camping / scouting hack. At least the 4007 is built in Japan so maybe bits will not fall off.

We bought a diesel which does mainly short trips. When it went through the dpf cleaning cycle( gets extremely hot and cooling fans at full blast) I wondered what the hell was going on and googled it and only then learned that diesels were not good for short trips, potential costs of new dpf etc. Had clearly been brainwashed that diesel was better and more economical. Guess it is just a matter of education ...... And yes, will buy petrol next time around.

Hello, soon shopping for a 350
Ponsonby replied to Mason's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Have you seen a Temper 'in the flesh'. You clearly like bright coloured cars so would probably love the Temper - but then I am biased. May struggle to find one though ... -
Second the old carpet suggestion. You only need a thin strip at the height the door would catch the pillar and can screw it onto the pillar. Either that or make the missus get out before you park!

Yeah actually I think what scared me slightly is when I added up how much money I had actually made last year, it was a heck of a lot more then I actually thought it was (but still not a lot by any means!) partyly as I left it in a paypal account and used it on various bits and bobs. Also I have seen a few articles on news sites about IR getting quite harsh. However then for every one of those articles I see other articles saying its a load of rot an its almost impossible for them to find out unless you are selling thousands of items etc.. Basically just some advice would be great, someone I can run the numbers past and what it is I am planning to do this year and see what their thoughts are and what next steps would be. HMRC have been slow to look at taxation on Ebay sellers but as more and more people set up their own little (or big) ebay businesses then they will take more notice. I own a couple of businesses, have to account for VAT, have to pay personal tax, have to pay corporation tax - and am just essentially buying and selling. This is no different to someone who buys and sells on ebay. Obviously HMRC do not have the resources to investigate everyone so it really depends if you are unlucky / lucky. Personally I have always been as careful as possible with taxes. Their criteria may look at turnover as well as number of transactions - the stuff I sell goes for £00's so only need to sell a few a year to make a good profit.

Same position as you at the moment. We have a 1.2 Clio which the wife drives and a 17yo learner driver. Policy and car in wife's name with myself and daughter as named drivers. We use Quinn insurance as they come out the cheapest while she is learning. However, Quinn shoot up massively in price when she passes so will change insurer then. If we did not have the Clio anyway, I think I would just have used the insurance money to pay for more lessons. From experience with our eldest daughter, once they pass their test you have just got to sit on pc/phone for hours shopping around for the best deal.

They will probably leave it on for £67K now, having had so many page views from us lot.

You are doing the right thing seeking proper advice and planning to pay tax on your profit. My accountant has advised me that HMRC are looking at ebay sellers. I have set up business ebay and paypal accounts to keep my business stuff separate from the general household stuff we may sell. There are obviously a heck of a lot of people on ebay making a living (or second income) that don't think they have to pay tax on it. Make sure you keep detailed records of all your incomings and outgoings and will calculate tax as if you were a sole trader unless you are a registered company and remember that if you are successful you may have to register for VAT if you go over the threshold. Good luck with the new venture.

Just looking at my insurance, due in next couple of weeks. Admiral, 313HR with mods, 52 years old, £208 fully comp. Good to be an old fart sometimes ....

Why not drive halfway, then get a cheap motel or B & B. Sleep for 5 or six hours, get up early and finish the journey. I have done lots of 'epic' journeys in my time but driving while so tired is dangerous. Plus, if overtired it may spoil your Christmas.

350Z 'Z' SOLID METAL KEYRING
Ponsonby replied to Asad's topic in 350Z & 370Z Z Emblems Accessories Sales
Have already got one but for £4.50 I will have another as a 'stocking filler' for my son - who loves my Z more than me. Let me know how to pay. Cheers.
