Macca is awesome, but at 3x the price of my GTR, its hard to justify it as a replacement If I could justify the money though, it would definitely be on the list of cars to test. Had a go against one at ASDA at Bruntingthorpe this year. I was running a little under 610/610 and on dead MPSS tyres, no idea on the spec of the macca. Out of the corners and onto the straight there was almost nothing in it, but under brakes the macca was simply awesome, he could brake way later and way way harder thanks to the surf board on the back.

Coming to this a little late........ but what have you test driven, in the list above for example? Start wiith a few test drives and then decide..... Once I got out in the GTR, my budget got increased and both missus and I love the car. However they are not for everyone............. get out there and get testing some of the cars! The list above is a good place to start, maybe include a AM V8V and Porsche Cayman. Im not a huge fan of the Cayman myself, however, I have been out with a friend on track a few times and they are brilliant on the track, interior is very good as well.

As suggested above...... MX5 with a SC that was my choice.... For your budget, MX5 MK2 (2k), Supercharger(3k), suspension and brake components (1k), seats, harnesses and half cage (1k) and maybe some wheels and decent tyres (1k). I bought the MX5 stock and did everything but the SC and it was great fun on track (more fun than the GTR) - very capable, great in the corners, just slow on the straights. Car is now at Skuzzle having the SC done, plus a few other bits. Should see almost 100% increase in power A group of friends are all buying different track hacks.... I went MX5, another is going Megane, another is going BMW and one other is looking at an old EVO. So we will have quite a mix of cars and all happy to swap On track, Clios, Coopers, BMWs, etc if setup well are all very good. I did look at selling the MX5 and going s2000 before I went SC, but I read about a lot of owners that did, then sold the s2000 and went back to the MX5 with SC. I have also driven a few s2000 and Im just not a fan...... cabin feels too small, oddly MX5 feels fine. If you are near Goodwood, Thruxton, Castle Combe and we have the MX5 out, happy to show round the car, etc. Hoping to get first few track days next month. -

They look great, but why do tuning forks always remind me of BMW? No idea........... -

Have to agree with your statement about the Martian... I really liked it, some good 1 liners and really good throughout. Another to watch, is Everest. -

Maserati Granturismo, Aston Vantage or ...... Decision P8

I can accept the performance, I know it wont be close to the GTR, it would be bought for a change and more for the looks, noise and comfort. -
I love that Aston, but good bored with him.

Having driven both VERY fast on the same roads, trust me, the Cayman would leave the GTR on everything other than the very straightest bits and even then there wouldnt be a lot in it. The weight alone makes a huge difference. Having driven both VERY fast on track, trust me, the GTR R35 would leave the Cayman disappearing into the distance through my rear view mirror. Have to agree, since a friend owns a Cayman S and we regularly go to the track together, the GTR is by far quicker!

Interesting dilemia amazing how much it all changes when you drive a GTR whats a 250z? Shame about ruling out the classic, but I understand your point. I felt the same about the Aston, was a really nice and special, but there was something lacking. I think I can live with that now though...... Not yet thanks! Mine is now stage 4.25 and running 654bhp. Currently sat at Sly while it has a service done. -
Interesting discussion since my GTR is up for sale.... after 4.5 years of ownership, still love the car and trying to find a way to keep it (storage is my biggest issue). As for a replacement, well it will be bloody difficult to replace. Comfortable for long trips (unlike the Evo race car), quick on a track and reliable. I know a few Evo owners as well, none have gone back, they just kept both cars Im looking to separate out the track aspect (as this is where the GTR is very expensive) and will be running the MX5 (supercharged) and will have the 240z for something special on weekends, etc. All thats left is the comfortable aspect, so I am looking at V8 Vantage to fill that spot, good GT car. If you can split out all the aspects like this, then the GTR is doesnt compare, however as a single car to do it all, its had to beat. Have always wanted a R34 GTR, but they are old now and need to be modded in my mind. Still a heavy car for the power that it runs standard. Will probably have one some day though

20-30hp increase, really? thats impressive, but from "not modding" do you really need it?
-
Hahaa, yeah, typo... All good No idea, I was watching a movie in the waiting area
-
Step 1 complete - Intakes installed and version 5 Ecutek installed making a grand total of 654bhp thank you Litchfield

Thats really scrapping the bottom of the barrel for a reason I enjoyed the rolling start though, makes you realise how quick a bike is and 222 down the straight 1300 supercharged and the guys can ride.... its a fair bit better than your average bike (and even your not so average bikes). Not many will stand a chance against these bikes.

I also got to wear shorts and a tshirt versus leathers and a helmet in 30 degrees

Would be even closer now, with the R888 tyres, the launch is much much better!!!

Dont joke, I may have to

With a move to central London at the beginning of 2016, it looks like I may have to sell the car Still looking at options on the storage front, but not sure.... A few things to sort before it really goes up for sale:- Litchfield mapping - v5 and fitting of new intakes - booked for 4th Jan Sly will then be servicing the car shortly after that (need to try and arrange for a windscreen replacement at the same time) Then its off to get all the stone chips fixed (bloody Asda Day - will still go back)
