  1. I just love this solo. Never been a great Prince fan, but the feeling he puts into this solo is just brilliant.
  2. Silver 350z roadster pulling over on the A419 near Swindon heading north in a cloud of smoke / steam, yesterday morning. Hope it was nothing too critical. On other carriageway, otherwise I would have stopped.
  3. Black 350z yesterday. Looked like a Nismo badge on the front. Followed me through the roadworks on the M5 Northbound near Gloucester and exited at Junction 11a.
  4. I still have a 1996 FTO GPX sat on my drive being very sadly neglected. Had it for 12 years and used it daily before I got the Z with scarcely any issues whatsoever. Great handling, reasonable performance and very reliable. As has been said before, the vast majority are imports and if they weren't undersealed early, there may be structurally significant rust, so check very carefully. Also due to the unintentionally hydrophilic glue they used internally, there is a tendency for the roof to rust from the inside in a line across the width of the car. Idle control valve stepper motor is a prime failure point, but this can mostly be fixed with a good clean or an aftermarket part (£80 rather than the £500 mitsubishi wanted). The brakes are pretty weak, and the disks have a tendency to warp under heavy braking, so check for judder. Head over to the FTO Owners club and ask if they know the car? They have a public thread on what to look for here.
  5. It's only odd if you talk to them. "What's that, Mr Stabby? No I will not. Not again. Don't look at me like that. Ok, one more, but this is the last time!"
  6. Remind me not to buy a Juke. The handling is woeful.
  7. Tell him his number plate isn't legal.
  8. Flashed me, returned a thumbs up and got a wave in response.
  9. Hi all, had a search around and found various bits and bobs on this issue, but nothing definitive. If there's a thread that's answered this one before (and I can't possibly be the first), please feel free to direct me its way. Car is a 2005 350Z Roadster. Firstly, what version of the VQ35DE engine am I likely to have, i.e. "up rev"/"rev up" or not? Is there an easy way to visually tell? Internal redline on the dash is 6500 revs, if that helps? Just answering that will give me some sort of answer, but the background to it is this: Had the car a year. Complete oil change back in November 2013 (due another now and will do so soon). Since then and up until about 6 weeks ago, the oil level dropped from max to just below half, which seems fair enough in my book. My usage was only about 150 miles a month on average. Then recently, I've taken a contract where I'm driving the Z a fair bit more (about 500 miles a week) so I've put on about 1500 miles in the last 3 weeks! Ought to use another car, I know, but top down z on sunny day = good stress relief. Made a mental note to check oil more regularly than I had been because of this ... then kept forgetting (bad man) until yesterday, when I pinned the mental note to the forefront of my brain. Result was that the oil level was down below minimum by a fair bit. Quick litre or so later and it was back up to midway. There's no real evidence of smoking or leakage and the engine's running fine. So, question is: normal or something to explore further? I know the rev up engine is reportedly prone to using more oil, but don't know which I have (hence first silly question). Cheers.
  10. Crikey, you've done some work on that since I saw it last year. Kudos, man. And you'll be glad to hear your old Rays have been refurbed and are currently adorning my roadster with a set of new MPSS.
  11. Used to do that all the time. It was a wizened old woman with no eyes, when I imagined it.
  12. Yay, my first spotting of someone someone on the forum knows!
  13. I flashed lights as I turned off onto the Causeway and got a wave.
  14. When you throw something into a flip top bin and miss, don't absent mindedly press on the pedal again whilst stooping to pick the rubbish up and smack yourself in the face with the rapidly opening lid. I did that. Ended up sat on my backside on the kitchen floor with a bloody nose and feeling like an utter tit.
  15. I'm working on and off in Farnborough at the moment. Oh, and Welcome.
  16. T***HUW. Passed me on the M50 heading towards J1. I had the top down and saluted.
  17. I gave up with blackcircles when they failed to deliver what I wanted twice. Used http://www.mytyres.co.uk in the end (though they are a German company in spite of the URL and half of the set did come from Germany, but ahead of time and at the best price I could find).
  18. My wife hit my parked car and it was my fault. Not that I'm still bitter or anything.
  19. I have Co-pilot and it's a darned sight better than Google Maps in terms of routing (Google maps tried to find the narrowest lanes and awkward route possible IME). Plus the maps are installed on your sd card, so you don't need a data connection. They send me free updates every once in a while, too. Can't fault it.
  20. Overtaken on A419 by what I thought was a black 350z in my rear view, but had 370 badges on the back and a G**370 plate, strangely it also looked like a 350 from the rear too. Followed until M5J9 when it pulled off into the inside lane behind another very shiny black 370z. Also passed yet another black 350 going in the opposite direction by the Air Balloon roundabout. Quite a Z filled journey home. (Edited incorrect road)

  22. Azure Blue 350Z coupe, Hartney Wintney at 14:50 yesterday. I waved and for once was in my Zed too. Also, an Orange 350Z coupe parked in the carpark near York House, Farnborough Aerospace Centre.
  23. Sat in my room, when I get a call from my daughter downstairs that there's a UFO in the sky outside, flying towards our house. "Yes, dear." Then my wife, calls down, come and see there's a really weird plane going overhead now. I could hear it at this point, so looked out the window ... and there was a B-2 Stealth Bomber right above my house. Never seen one in the flesh before. Strange beastie. Must have been headed for Fairford ... a US show of force, shoring up European defences in response to Mr. Putin's recent antics, no doubt. By the time I'd grabbed my camera it was gone.
