  1. Such an awful set of circumstances your family finds itself in. You're all in my thoughts. Having raised a grand last year I suggest a Just Giving page for the charity in the name of your niece with the the full story on there.I'm sure folk on here would support and share it. You could also organise an event, like my skydive, to generate more interest and therefore more money "a sponsored... Insert activity of chchoice" Either way, set up a page, I'll donate some money. Hope your niece recovers soon :-) x
  2. I'm an educated skilled employee on a ZHC through no fault of my own!! It just happens I work in the private care sector and this is the way the vast majority employ people. Whilst the majority of care workers are not highly educated they are often highly trained and skilled (don't believe everything you hear/read in the newspapers) and the ZHC is not as bad as Labour make it out to be but it's not a great thing either. I work with primarily lone parents trying to support their families, they can't "get off their arses" anymore than they currently do. Not being able to guarantee to earn enough to pay their rent or feed their kids is not a good thing. These people are doing their best, not scrounging off the state, willing and able to work and not unreliable kids. Prior to being in care I was in business finance and also grew up in a medium sized family business, I know all about business needs! The companies could offer a large proportion of their workforce a short contract of say 12 hours and still employ "bank" staff to cover as needed and to appeal to people who want a ZHC or don't need a contract. Businesses look good when they can employ 25% more people as do the Tories for saying more people are now employed. Obviously this is just my opinion having some experience on both sides of the fence

  4. I've had 2 suites from DFS over the years. The first was a cloth sofa set that survived 8 long years of being a bed for an 11 stone Great Dane! For the price I don't expect them to last forever. Hope your daughter settles well in her new home
