  1. I was looking at a competition clutch advert in the lastest japanese performance mag last night. they claim that their latest single mass lightweight flywheel is designed to not have any vibration or noise over stock dual mass flywheel. thats impressive cos my competition clutch and lightweight flywheel is noisy as hell when loaded at low rpm and 1st gear can be tough to engage sometimes which was never an issue with the trans when i was OEM clutch and fly before. I still love the set up though for the ability to rev match faster on down shifts, but it's not a mod i'd recommend for someone who likes their road cars buttery smooth and quiet. #becauseracecar
  2. I paid my £15 for three laps of the drift area in richard "juddster" mccourts lassa tyres r33. a passenger ride in a drift car is something everyone should put on their bucket list. it was mental. so much speed, angle and huge amounts of grip. truly has to be experienced.
  3. Hi GT6 drivers. Just a quick tip if you weren't already aware. You know how everyones always moaning about the sounds online? Well there is something you can do now in order to massively improve them. In the overall game options accessed from the home screen, In the Audio/Sound options, you can change the sound viewpoint. Change this from Normal to Bonnet, and you'll get the better, clearer, more detailed sounds you normally only get when driving in bonnet view when you're driving in normal (dials) view. Some cars have better sounds than others, so improvement will vary according to your car, but this is a MUST DO mod to your GT6 experience. I'm pretty stoked on it as I recommended they do this as a quick and dirty fix to lack lustre sounds and I've never seen anyone else ever recommend it. Maybe someone at PD saw it, cos they've gone and implemented it. Enjoy the tranny whines and deep burbly exhaust notes. (Sport exhausts sound better than race ones btw and you only lose a few HP). Let me know what you think.
  4. Stillen high capacity sump and custom made 1.0 litre oil catch can from OBP Motorsport. Ahh, that's better. Always feels better to confess these sins and get them off your chest.
  5. I don't have pussy cats, I have Berk spiral wound sports cats. Mmm. Meeaoowww.
  6. Currently getting a bespoke baffled 1 Litre oil catch can made by obp motorsport that I've designed according to the requirements of the Z and the restrictions of the engine bay layout. The silicone hoses and silicone cap offs for plenum and intake (15mm and 10mm bore) are ordered from AutoSiliconeHoses and a 28mm tall K&N breather from Demon Tweeks. I figure for MOT inspection or for a vacuum source if required, I can remove the breather and run another 10mm hose back to the inlet plenum. I'll update again after the bits and bobs have arrived.
  7. "Uh yer, I'd loike to inshur my car please, it's rad." "Red?" "No, It's rad. It's hellaflush. Smart as fark." "Sorry, that's not showing up on our system. What manufacturer is it again?" "Mazderr" "OK, and model?" "MX5 ya carnt. And it's Hellerflush innit. Smart as fark. Better 'n yours." "Has the car had any modifications at all?" "Too roight. Alloys, lowered. hellerflush like I said" "Do the modifications enhance the performance at all?" "Fark that, it just looks good innit. Hellerflush." "Ok sir, your premium will be £xxx" "Muuuhhhm!" "Hellaflush. Nothing says I'm a wa---r, better".
  8. I have all new CC stage 2 clutch and lightened flywheel, braided line, slave cyl and motul fluid and mines fine in forward gears but slips like hell in reverse on my drive. Maybe my driving, I don't know, but when I'm putting it away, I can always hear it meeoowww as it slips part way up the drive, then there's the faint smell of burned plate in the cockpit and in the garage when i get out.
  9. Their website designer forgot to put their address and postcode in the Find Us or Contact Us sections of the website. No good for potential customers arriving by satnav. Address: 4 Main St, Broughton Astley, Leicester LE9 6RD Phone:01455 282343
  10. It won't spoil it. The Berk's aren't that loud. It'll sound great actually, but the higher flowing system will definitely need a remap to keep your AFR's safe. My AFR's were in the 15's with a Milltek and Berk HFC's (should be 12 for optimum safe power). TDI North are highly recommended. That's who I used.
  11. My 2004 DE with K&N typhoon, Motordyne plenum spacer, Berk HFC's & Milltek Exhaust. Plus lightened flywheel and grounding kit. Full tank of BP Ultimate 97.
  12. Dyno's do vary between tuning shops and in all honesty, peak power is entirely irrelevant IMO as the peak torque has already started to fall away before you reach it. The hike in torque is tangible so that's what matters, and the improvement is right the way through the entire rev range, not just pulled up in the last 2500 RPM by opening the wastegate later on a boosted engine for example. In 3rd and especially 4th, you'll notice that, believe me. People get hung up on power and it's a ridiculous metric to focus on since it's only achieved for a brief moment in time under certain conditions and as such is no measure of the performance or drive of the car. The torque curve tells the real story, in particular the area underneath the line.
  13. I have a 2004 DE and it made 307 BHP and 297 lbft this morning at TDI North after 5 pulls on the dyno and about an hour and a half of mapping. The mid range has gained 30 to 50 lbft which is the most impressive thing about it. So yes, 300+ BHP is possible, but not guaranteed according to the mapper. They can vary 30 BHP with the same mods on them. It's often down to how they've been looked after/driven. I guess I got lucky. Like any car, turbo or not, a remap is essential if you've "increased airflow" in any way whatsoever. Mine was running very lean and that has been corrected. Average mpg on the road not affected during normal driving / some use of cruise control on motorways. Still 23 - 32 mpg. I don't know about spirited driving yet, but I don't care either. fast = fuel. It'll be better than a turbo whatever it gets.
  14. Remap went well up at TDI North this morning on my 04 DE. Great midrange torque gains now the fuellings sorted and a peak of 305.8 BHP and 286.7 lbft. The torque improvement from 2500 to 6250 RPM is great, with a 30 - 50 lbft hike in torque!
  15. Chuck as much money at Bilstein/Eibach parts as you can and replace rims with wider ones with proper offsets instead of using spacers. By far the best money I've spent on the Z. No bounce or float, instant grip after hits, dips, rises and superb over standard, but you'll need Whiteline droplinks to stop creaking. If you run 19" x 10.5" wide rims on the rear with a 275/35/19 tyre with proper offset for flush fitment, then rear negative camber will need to be set above 1 degree (on the eibach adjustable camber arms) to avoid tyres rubbing the arches on big hits. I had mine rolled by archenemy so I could run 1 degree instead of 1.5 for better contact patch, and run 2 degrees at the front (my choice, not a guide), but it's a high price to pay for half a degree less camber at the rear. Since naturally aspirated cars don't tune up to big numbers like turbos do, the money is better spent on improving the already quite good brakes and handling. The torque curve is already nice and flat on Z's, so it's a bit misguided to go chasing big numbers like dyno queens do. I think of it in terms of mathematics - individual numbers mean very little (outside of the pub), its the curve and the area under the curve that tell the real story (on the road).
  16. If you like a smooth, quiet, comfy driving experience, it ain't for you. Your parents will say you've ruined your car and passers by will think theres something wrong with your car. If you want a faster revving engine, improved acceleration and better performance, then go for it. But your car will be noisy and 1st gear starts and stops in traffic jams will **** you off.
  17. This is like confession. My names Matt and I'm a zedaholic. Last week I fitted Berk HFC's, and this week a lightened flywheel and clutch. Next tuesday I shall be getting Uprevved. Please help me.
  18. I won't take my Z anywhere else. Awesome customer and car service from Mitz and Andy. If I ever win the lottery I'm gonna employ them and keep them all to myself and we'll all grow old together in zed and rotary heaven, eating chicken burgers and chips and watching fast and loud.
  19. Great video clip this. There's a few as we get ready for Formula Drift 2014 in a day or two's time. Chris F and Ryan Tuerk's videos are great. Ryan's Off Seasons 2 vid is one of my all time faves. Look it up on YT if you've not seen it.
  20. Just sent them an email. Only 1.5 hours from my house. Once the Berk HFC's are on, it'll be time to get it tweaked on the dyno.
  21. DBA discs, Ferodo pads, Goodridge lines and Motul fluids and exactly the same as you guys describe too. Gonna let CS take a look, but might be normal.
  22. It appears to be a Samsung promotional thing that expires after a year. I don't know what happens after that. Maybe you have to pay for the space, maybe you no longer get the free space if you buy the samsung note 10.1 2014 after a certain date. I guess they let you keep the space for free. They can't exactly delete your data and have no way of charging you.
  23. So I still have wide open throttle in the first three gears to look forward to, post remap. Hoochy mama, the new financial year can't come fast enough.
