  1. What level of castor adjustment are the bushes?
  2. Should i be able to move the shaft axially when the box is built up? I first noticed it when i changed the clutch, the bearing seems fine i will change it anyway though, was wondering if the shaft is the issue or the main drive gear bearing sleeve or something im missing, service manual doesnt ask for the main pilot bearing or main drive bearing to be changed unless defective, should i just change them to be safe?
  3. I have the common problem of notchy gearchanges between 1st and 2nd and slightly 5th to 6th, ive pulled the box apart and as far as i can see only 5th to 6th synchro is a bit worn, my main concern is the amount of play on the shaft that slides into the spigot bearing, is this supposed to be like this or have i got an issue with the needle roller bearing that this shaft sits on? im a little worried that theres not enough wear on any part to cause the issues im having, ive bever seen an input shaft with this much movement on any other car though so im a little concerned with it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  5. how bad is it that fluid is getting to that plug, should I be thinking about a new rack or is it just I should mark where I think I want the plug done up to and then seal her in
  6. Right, I was under the car fitting Superpro bushings and noticed a leak coming from a 24mm plug, looks like a drain plug directly below the UJ. I found it was loose/not very tight so didn't think twice and got the spanner on it. When I finished and started the car I discovered that my steering was incredibly heavy/notchy/horrible. Couldn't think what else it could be so loosened the 24mm plug a little and power steering returned, as did the leak. Could someone tell me what it is I'm tightening/loosening and a rough idea about what to change to fix the leak and what torque to tighten it to during reassembly would be greatly appreciated. Also if its not meant to be done up tight what am I likely to of damaged.
  7. When I changed the clutch a little while ago I noticed there was a lot of play on the input shaft and sometimes when shifting it feels like the gate moves. Firstly is it likely that the rest of the gearbox will be good on an 05 plate with 55k on the clock, secondly would just changing the input shaft bearings solve the problem or am I just entering into a whole world of bother and should just get another box? Any ideas from anyone who has experience with this.
  8. I'm at 308 BHP are the fly with plenum spacer, full exhaust system, cosworth air filter, the lightened fly makes no difference on the dyno but I definatly notice the difference when driving the car.
  9. I have plenum spacer, de cat, cat back system done by longlife, cosworth filter and remap and have 310 hp on a DE engine to give you a rough gains estimate, the bloke at h-dev said i have the same setup as him and have about 4 more bhp with decat instead of berks hfc's
  10. Finally fitted my stage 2 competition clutch and lightened fly after weeks of waiting and lazyness and I am 300 miles into the break in period so far i think its not great for stop start uphill traffic, could be my driving, but other than that I couldn't be happier, gear changes are quick and its got a deffinate sportier feel to it. The lightweight flywheel does make a small amount of noise if you are accelerating with at about 1500-2200 revs but for cruising it is very quiet, noise may be worse as when I dropped the gearbox out the car I found there was a lot of play in the input shaft and I think I have the usual problem of worn out synchro's. Install time took about 6 hours and a number of tea and fag breaks but other than that very straight forward. CC also do a big discout to forum members if anyone else is looking for a clutch, think I paid £675 for flywheel and clutch together and if you are installing it by yourself I used a tap to pull the pilot bush out as I was following a thread I found on the install and there was no way in hell that was coming out without being pulled. Will give an update when I hit 500 miles since the install and start thrashing the balls off of it.
  11. whats wrong with the Corsa there are a few decent garages for different things about
  12. Thanks for the help i found they have rhd option on their website lol
  13. Looking to going down the twin turbo route of FI, mainly for long term ability to tune the car, was looking at the GTM twin turbo kit from the US mainly because it seems cheap using reasonable parts and was wondering how the fitment would change between left and right hand drive. Has anyone in the Uk fitted one? If yes can you tell me what needs modifying/scrapping and changing.
