Cant believe he would take the risk personally, surely its a 50/50 you wouldnt pick up damage yourself
-
He wants to spend the same value of the car to gain 50bhp!!! This has got to be wind up surely???

But look at the young footballers: Talent there in spades, but often making the wrong decision at the wrong time because they don't have the experience yet. If it was purely a matter of talent and fitness, they'd be miles ahead of the older guys but that's not the case. Every now and then you get a superstar who breaks the mold (Lewis, Rooney, Woods) but for the most part it takes a bit of time to understand what's going on around you. They may look amazing running at lower levels with fellow kids, but put them in a more even playing field against wily old sods like Alonso and they're going to get caught out. What happens if it doesn't work out for him? In three years time he could get the boot, and then at age 20 his career could be over. After all, nobody wants a washed up F1 rookie. Nail and head, if he has the talent, he will succeed (kind of what i was saying), just like the Woods, McIlorys, Marquez, Rossi, Vettel etc of the world. There is no telling that if he waited a few years he would be any likelier to be any better or more suited, he has his chance and must take it regardless of age, i am sure any young driver would give their left or right nut to get the opportunity, lets just hope he impresses

Discussed a few times before and personally think its stunning, but thats the question, whats it pitched at? £45k in line with something like the Alfa 4C (2l Turbo) or £75k (straight 6 large capacity) and Gtr territory? Being Toyota are already knocking out a 2L in the GT86 i am not so sure they would give this the same format as you can be sure an official fi'd Gt86 will be out at some point and going on there past history, i.e Supra, i would expect a decent capacity and high price tag, sadly

I am not so sure i agree these days, just look at Marc Maquez in MotoGp, smashing just about every single record for "youngest rider" to do this or that and watching him race you can see how mature he is with his race craft, if he knows he has got the pace he goes for it and gaps the field, other times he hangs back leaving some tyre to push in the last few laps, old head on young shoulders. You can also see how he learns so quickly, maybe its an advantage being so young as your not set in your ways and dont think you know it all and can adapt?? These guys have been racing since they can remember, i dont see it as a problem and its the only way for them to get the knowledge they need to become the best, or try to become the best. Same can be said for most sports these days in reality, football, tennis, golf etc

Why do people sell nearly brand new cars?
Jetpilot replied to twobears's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I am guessing this is the first car Alfa have bought out for a long time that would/may fetch a premium, apart from the 8c, so would Alfa employees a) be able to afford a base 4C at £45k and c) would Alfa allow it on a ltd numbers production, i personally dont think they would. I would imagine the most likely thing is people ordering and taking delivery purely to speculate on some profit (with this example), probably didnt even want the car in the first place, just an investment. Probably very different for mass produced cars such as Fords, Vauxhalls etc The prestige brands dont take kindly to people placing orders, taking delivery and immediately selling on, with any frequency. A lad round my way has been blacklisted by Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche etc etc for doing exactly this, he now gets friends to place the order, pays the deposit, lets them keep the car for a day or two and immediately shifts it on, usually with a buyer in place, most of them go to Dubai as they pay top dollar. On the flip side another local lad ordered an Aventador, did the Gumball in it and its now up for sale, at quite a healthy profit!! One careful owner -
Doing the rounds on Fb, ignore the excitable Welsh dude, but is the comment fact, only Police are allowed to collect evidence in a crime? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=842092179158744

Never used the clutch on upshifts on my bike, just felt right not to I have a bit more mechanical sympathy for the car, but sometimes do the odd upshift with it

I hear your frustration but you don't pay road tax, neither do I or any other road user. Cyclists are most likely also motorists and for all you know pay as much if not more VED than you. Keeping roads closed after all the participants are through is stupid I agree but how do you think Olympian cyclist athletes get their experience? Lots of the participants of this event are slightly more experienced than the middle aged Lycra fetish you make them out to be. I'm sure you cheered on Victoria Pendleton Dont let the facts spoil a good story

Loved every minute of my biking years, right up to the point I very nearly lost my foot Would not ride a bike on the road these days if you paid me, take it to the track, you will have 100 x the fun
-
That tells you why there is no crowds

Bet you all must be dying to get out in the rain

I wouldnt care less for one weekend, a lot of roads get shut for the Airshow we have for 4 days As Ekona says, i am sure you will cope
-
Try living on the south coast, its chaos every weekend in the summer, has taken me 35 mins to drive 4 miles, everyone wants to go to the beach
-
You should only need to polish once, so long as you keep on top of it, but have had lips polished a couple of times If you get the right wheels you can replacement lips or barrels, probably cheaper than buy a whole new one piece wheel in the unlikely event of a buckle Dont keep an eye on them, get them bought
-
Yes I would! I need to drive my car out of my road! Wanted, small minority to spoil it for the rest of us its part of one weekend, I am sure you can survive
-
The TT goes on for a week! F1 would be 3/4 days! Although i dont live in London and appreciate how disruptive it will be, i dont believe for one min there would be quite so much animosity if it were F1 cars or Motorbikes
-
They do shut roads for motor racing now...its called a Rally...!!! :scare: But they don't shut down a whole City causing utter chaos this weekend. :surrender: I hope it pi55es down all weekend... I have never seen many tarmac roads shut for rallies in the city, but to go along with the theme; Would anyone complain If London was shut down for F1 like Monaco or: Or a whole county was shut down for something similar to The Isle of Man? Lets be real, Its only beacuse Its t**** on bikes, lol
-
Why not just buy a real set of Meisters or Proffesors 2nd hand, wouldnt cost that much more than a new set of the above and will always be worth similar to what you paid for them and being 2 or 3 piece you can do whatever you want finish wise
-
I doubt anyone would be complaining if the roads were being shut for a motor race, in fact wasnt there a thread somewhere saying the government had or were allowing this?
-
All well and good but what about people that have no choice that have to use a vehicle for work? Clearly its not aimed at them (even though they are affected - but companies like BP offer fuel cards to VAT registered businesses to get reductions in the cost) but at your lazy driver who could use public transport as an alternative. You then make driving a luxury that only the wealthy will be able to afford, plus the government wants you in your car, they dont really want you on public transport, they cant afford for you not to drive! Imho they need to offer incentives to car share, out of city parking, like a park and ride, etc

Is it not unavoidable that on a one way style road that if an accident occurs, particularly if serious, delays will be severe due to the closure as you literally have no escape route or road. Whilst increasing the capacity, its not going to stop accidents. Perhaps they need better contingency plans to get or keep the traffic flowing in such an event? But agree in part, the road network cannot cope with the volume of traffic in general. I think people should be encouraged to use m ways at off peak times, I.e 10pm to 6 am, particularly haulage compaines and in this day and age of flexible working hours, the gov need to do more to spread the volume!

How racist, lol I learned my lesson in my VW days, my camper was so low you had to deflate the tyre to squeeze it between the arch and hub Mine is after all, "best of both worlds"
-
Mine has settled a little lower from this photo, about 10mm - 15mm and in this country thats as low as i would want, still get the off scrape on the larger speed bumps
