Protecting Motorsport Venues From The Middle Class Mafia
Jetpilot replied to Stutopia's topic in Motorsport & Track Days
I think Its a fair point to ask for a peaceful weekend on the whole. There are rules and regs for working hours in the building industry for example, 8 - 6 monday to friday, 8 - 1 saturday, I wouldnt want a building plot next to going 7 days a week all hours. Your also right, not everyone likes motorsport noise, but, you would have to pretty simple to move within range of a motosport track operating within Its restrictions and then complain you dont like the noise or think its too loud. As a purchaser they didnt do a very good job of assesing the situation of noise levels so on their head be it imho and that is all this petition is asking, not that it is allowed to get louder or more frequent as in your case, just you waive the right to complain or petition further reductions if you have knowingly moved to within such locations, sounds very reasonable to me. -

I think Mallory was a bit of an exception as they were using the circuit more than their agreement which had been in place for a number of years. I was fortunate enough to be let loose at Thruxton (motorbike), try getting on there these days, think its something silly like 90db A friends standard 911 C4S was tested at Combe at 98db as an example. Same as lpg, why does that keep in line with petrol and diesel duty hikes?? -

Although i am in agreement with more people started to use it so they put the prices up line, i seem to remember some smokescreen that because of the increased demand, changes had to made in refineries to meet that increase, hence the cost -
Sorry but that is just great, i bet even the kids laughed after Obviously a mother and child, oap is a different story

Same can be said to all Zeds that people fit high maintenance FI setups to, Just buy a 400bhp in the first place dont try and bodge a 300bhp car with FI setup that it wasnt designed to have Show me a true rwhp 400hp oem car you can buy for £10K? show me a 400 rwhp 350z bought and built for 10k Bet this could be bought for around that, but even at 11k show me an oem car? http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/91240-supercharged-350z-for-sale/

I do remember as a lad walking by a mini flood at the side of the road, a couple of lads in an Escort van tore into it and before i had a chance to react i just remember this curtain of water, like being in a tube surfing, absolutely soaked, all i can remember is the laughter from my mates and the guys in the van. When we first started driving we used to angle our washer jets at the pavement, made for great hilarity, until one day we did it to this rather large individual and then realised the pedestrian crossing 20 meters ahead had just gone red!!!! I dont think we ever did it again

And now its there, they probably dont notice it at all I understand everybody has a view and opinion, but being you can view their complaints, some of them are just laughable. One neighbour (behind me) didnt like the idea of a garage being on her boundary due to, increased noise from cars at "all times of the day and NIGHT", i have got better things to do with my day, like work and particularly at night than drive in and out of my garage. Another neighbour (also behind), when i put in the 2nd amended plans said as his first line, there is no difference to the original plans, except, the house has changed size and location on the plot. So in fact everything has changed It was a very satisfying feeling when i got planning and whilst i wont gloat, there will be some choice loudly spoken comments whilst i am building

63 reported incidents over a 5 year period, definitely time for a zero tolerance response then, its almost epidemic levels

Perhaps that tells you how little people are interested with 0-60 times then buddy People have tried to give you constructive views on it, even provided links where you can find out the accurate 0-60 time of x car with x hp and x weight under perfect conditions, what more do you need?

In the last year i have just had a planning application accepted for a new build. I did manage to present plans to a planning officer a few years ago (it was a long term project) as someone mentions above, we had a chat and he said, the council would find it very difficult to refuse. Well a few years later, they did refuse, seeing a planning officer is no guarantee, first lesson learned. I was then advised to put in a pre planning application for the changes. There was a further charge for this service. Because i already had if you like, a free go at getting my revisions accepted from my initial application fee i thought i would go down that route. As far as i was concerned i had addressed their initial concerns for refusal. Obviously i had done enough and my 2nd set of plans were accepted. If i was in this position again i would start off with a pre planning application. Again, although this is no guarantee, it does allow the council to do all the relevant checks without public consultation (neighbours), so it gives you a chance to get things like, access, highways, transportation, natural england, ecps etc all correct. If you get these things acceptable, then only neighbourhood complaint can cause issue. However, a neighbour must have valid reason for it to be refused, not just, "i am a whinging old git with nothing better to do with my time than complain because i dont want to see someone else have some success and good fortune", of which by the way i had three It must be relevant to their living, i.e it blocks their light etc I approached all my relevant neighbours, showed them the plans and they all said, we have no issue and then one complained, when i asked her why, she said, i just dont want a house there. I would still approach neighbours if i were to do it again, but what they say and do are completely different things

I have never been attached to cars or such like, its only metal and there was nothing really unique or rare about them, i could always do it again if i wanted. I have always been looking forward to the next purchase too. The only mistake i made was having a full respray on a car and then realising a problem i thought i had solved with an engine hadnt been, like a week later from the bodyshop. It wasnt cost effective to mend it as was worth as much in parts, so broke it down, but couldnt get rid of the shell. A local scrappy picked it up, literally, chains through the windows and then a hiab arm down onto the roof so it didnt move on the flatbed, that smarted a bit

After owning a handul of Rx7's and loving the rotary powerplant I think the Rx8 has put the final nail in the rotary coffin sadly, there was no way Mazda should have released another rotary unit that was doomed for early failure. Ok, perhaps unsuspecting owners just treated it like a piston motor and didnt expect them to use oil as they are designed to and all the other little associated tips but I guess most just buy a car that they can get in, start, use and get serviced when the light tell thems. As mentioned elsewhere I thought one of the design briefs was an engine that did 200k

I have always enjoyed modifying things, motorbikes, jetskis, cars etc often when finished i think, wish i had done x rather than y, so rather than rip it apart from mint condition, its the best time to sell. I had a 10 year long stint of Rx7's, after i had finished one i always thought, would like to do "x" to one so sold the one i had and started again. The reason for moving away from Rx7's was just simply because my requirements from a car had changed, i wanted something i could simply get in and drive, surprisingly difficult with Rx7's believe it or not if your tuning them. I made a vow to myself that the next car i bought, although i knew i would be modifying it, was not going to have anything done to it which kept it off the road for more than a day or two. So far the longest my 350z has been off the road was a month but that was issues out of my control, ill fitting replica bumper and waiting for wheels to be built up, but everything else has been no longer than a day. In my Rx7 love affair i had a mx5 bbr turbo, the very week i finished doing the things i planned i sold it as realised it wasnt the car for me and not one that would replace a Rx7. Fortunately the 350 has and i will only change when i can justify the extra outlay
