  1. Watch out- some trackday companies won't allow suction mounts - Javelin!! Can see the point but Top Gear have verrrrrrrry expensive cameras suckered on to their vehicles.
  2. You can't reason with somebody who is in their position because of a lack of reasoning! Give up and accept them for the chav that they are.
  3. Rolls Royce RB199 Turbomeca- straight out of the RAF's Tornado fleet
  4. Found the perfect T Shirt for Steve Walsh
  5. Did a bridge jump off Thelwall Viaduct years back- seriously no wind up- and one of the guys screamed like a baby because there was a 'kin big thing with Rotterdam written on the back coming down the Manchester Ship Canal straight at him. Would love to have heard the conversation on the Bridge when they saw a bloke on a rope dangling in front of them :D
  6. Don't worry about the interior- strip it and put in Sparco seats and Willans Harnesses- everything else is superfluous
  7. Any Z drivers who are Mountain Bikers and can make 2 trips in a month have a look at http://samhoughtonchallenge.co.uk/ Well worth it for the 'charidee' but remember that it starts and finishes at the Hawkshead Brewery (in Staveley not Hawkshead)
  8. Well i guess the upside is you will spend a lot less on maintenance. i just can't help myself If the back's not lifting and squirming then you're not trying hard enough- although the advice from a 'proper' race 350Z driver at Oulton was 'Don't use a 350 they're too heavy at the front and kill the brakes'
  9. To back up Zmanalex- i did have to keep coming back into the pits with only 3 or 4 laps at a time before the brakes were cooked- bought the lines from alex now and looking forward to my next track day to try them out with racing fluid and ferodo pads too
  10. What happened England? Wheels well and truly came off- well done Wales
  11. Black 350Z with alternative badges replacing the Nissan ones- nice rear wing and Scottish letters to reg no.- heading east on M62 between J11 and J12 Friday evening about 5:30ish turned off to the M60 in Swinton direction- not in my Z so didn't give a wave. Would like to know what the badges were?
  12. Got an early Orange one- but not for sale- Though I'm sure you'll get the chance to spanner it soon as I'm pretty local
  13. Look forward to seeing you on track sometime this year- planning Oulton, Anglesey and Bedford but I get a nose bleed if i go too far south. Was impressed with the BMW Kumho series cars at Oulton Park last week- they look like they can be sorted for the track pretty easily.
  14. Really interested in this option- but recent experience with a Bluefin on my BMW 520D has soured my confidence- the Dual Mass Flywheel central bearing shattered then the whole engine ate itself when the timing chain jumped the car also needed a replacement inlet manifold as the old one had loosened its swirl flaps and was clogged with unburnt fuel- can't say it was definitely the upgrade from 350Nm to 450Nm that caused it but..... Having seen the 350Z supercharged to silly bhp I am right in assuming that my 2004 276bhp will have the strength to deal with an Uprev- especially as i'm using it mainly for trackdays and it will sit at 6000rpm for most of its life? The DE motor is fine for track work we have no worries for you to run the car on the track, I imagine the BMW was just unlucky after the remap how many miles had the BMW done? BMW was Bluefinned at 60k - DMF failed within 10k and engine died at 100k- problem was most of the miles were M6 and M74 totally cruising! I take it the DE is good for approx 15hp increase with basic Uprev- is this a physical chip or is it remapped via the OBD? Plus what tweaks can be made when on the RR?

  16. Damn- TDI North are 3 miles away from me- my credit cards are squealing as I type!
  17. You can see the state of one of the fronts in the attachment- there was so much spare rubber that the wheel went out of balance when it was cold on the way home. Had to scrub them in again to remove the excess to bring them back into balance. R888 or Yoko's are on my shopping list but i needed to kill the Potenzas before justifying the spend.
  18. Have to agree that bit by bit just sends the whole system out of balance. Tried Oulton with a stock set up and it simply didn't cope. The state of my Potenza RE040s showed that i was pushing maybe too hard for a stock setting- can't afford the R888s as I've just received my brake lines and will upgrade with racing brake fluid with a 320 deg boiling point coupled to new DS2500 pads and EBC turbo grooved and dimpled discs. I hope this will give me more confidence going down to Cascades and Druids.
  19. Top track and brilliant weather. There were so many RS's that I thought I'd parked in McDonalds by mistake. I was surprised at the number of full race machines that were there- google Caygill VW Racing for example. A really nice 350Z was prepped and running with 500bhp+. My poor little standard 276hp struggled but I definitely wasn't a mobile chicane. I'll be signed up for another go soon with my upgraded discs, pads and braided hoses. I did a couple of 'drifts' out of the chicane but none could compete with you guys infield
  20. Had a good view of your Z spinning around - sorry! drifting around whilst I had my lunch on Sat. I was tracking my Sunset Orange Z around you on the stickier tarmac. I particularly liked the Volvo box that was drifting along with you- it was so wrong that it became right! if that makes sense. Looked tricky to hold it in a drift- do they put 'Fairy Liquid' in the water??
  21. Thanks for the pointer on the brakes- there was a supercharged 350Z at Oulton (500bhp+ apparently) and fully race prepped the only difference he had from your set up were EBC slotted discs although the DBAs are getting good reports- i've ordered my HEL lines from Zmanalex and should have a proper set up by the weekend. Still jealous about the Vortech though
  22. Perfect day by the look of the photos. Took mine round Oulton on Saturday and cooked the brakes. How did yours cope at Snetterton and are they standard?
  23. Racing fluid in with a 300 deg plus boiling point- this was fine the warped OEM discs after the hard laps weren't. Fade wasn't a major problem but judder and smoke were- I'm looking at HEL and having had Goodridges on my Kawasakis these are in the mix too!
  24. Yep, Id do that before going mental on pads and disks TBH. Suspension is too soft OE for track IMO, if you dont want to go the whole hog then try uprated ARB's first, better tyres are a good shout too Did you see my mate Bren with his 600hp Silver V8 Skyline?? If so Id imagine it was only briefly ....... I nearly side swiped him coming out of cascades- was trying to pass a Focus RS on the run down to Island Bend and didn't expect him to come up so fast- Last minute spot and corrected mid move. Bren might have got skid marks from seeing a 350 move out towards him then back again
