  1. Appreciate the advice gents. I'll look into a headunit but any pointers would be good, and of course I'll search the forums and online stores. I guess one that could can SD or micro SD cards would be handy.
  2. As I was starting to hog drginger's thread, I thought it was only polite to start my own one instead. At some point in the year I'd like to upgrade the speakers in the car, I barely use the stereo anyway so it's not something I really care about. However, what is bothering me when I do listen to things is the clarity, which currently seems pretty muddy to me. I was thinking about something like this lot for now - but feel free to laugh or more helpfully some other suggestions Amp: Vibe Slick Stereo 4 Coax: Vibe Slick 6 v3 Comp: Vibe Slick 6 Comp v2 Sub: Hertz Dieci DS 25.3 £315-ish Cheers for any pointers ! I've not put down a HU, as I think most of them look utter shite (stupid flashing lights/screens only serve to irritate me ), and it's push the price up even more to an area I don't want to be in.
  3. Linky no worky, on iPhone at least Works here - but most likely zero use to you anyway It just at least tells you the sizes of the original speakers, which I couldn't find quickly.
  4. Found this which is actually quite useful: http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/Images/Nissan_350Z_EN_tcm6-67067.pdf
  5. It definitely makes sense, and is appreciated. I guess I don't want spend money on the system (well, least possible), as really it all has to go and I don't care enough to slosh a bunch of cash on it. I don't mind doing things over a period of time, seeing where the improvements come in but I certainly don't want to sling £500 or so in one go.
  6. I know you are right, as it's something I'd do anyway but how can the amp affect the quality of the speakers, as it's just driving them right ? I mean, I can imagine if it's under-powered or something is mis-matched giving weak results etc I hardly use the stereo anyway but when I do, it's just struggling with clarity.
  7. Cheers for the input Stu. Speakers are indeed a completely personal, subjective area. I spent about 6 hours in one shop testing out every single monitor-speaker combination until I was happy, and even then it depends on the room/positioning/seating. At least that part is sorted as we're in the same environment So the front ones are 6.5" components, the rears are 6.5" coaxial - is there another speaker hiding anywhere or is that it ? And I presume it's a case of being careful with the depth, I don't want to cut anything up, just literally want to swap them over.
  8. Sorry to jump in but in the same situation potentially. I'm looking to update my speakers (at some point) , although I don't feel I need to update the amp as it's loud enough, just no clarity in what I can hear. I could do with a new head-unit as well but it's not a priority. I used to have some Vibe speakers in an old car several years ago, they seemed ok iirc. I'm just curious on sizes/types of speakers for front and rear ? (just to make it easier to look on some sites to gauge costs)
  9. I shall definitely give details and photo's once I've collected it, as I'd not recommend something/someone I wasn't happy with to you guys
  10. Personally for me with discs, if there is a lip from the edge of the disc to the main surface, and if the surface isn't smooth... they go in the bin. On my old car I used EBC yellow stuff pads (little dusty) /discs (smooth), very happy with them and had used them for 3 years. I'll do the same for the 350z later this year.
  11. Possibly the worst timing for me (as I'm owed a month wages + 20% from dec ), as it looks like the shitty company I'm working for has farted itself to death... But anyway, I dropped the car off at a place to have the front end resprayed (typical stone chips and bird poop damage), door scrape fixed (someone caught my car whilst parking) and spoiler smoothed/resprayed (looked tatty). I did try taking some photo's but I pretty much just ended up with reflections of the sky Hopefully the guy takes some whilst he is working on it, and I'll post up before/afters - and most importantly, I pray a big thumbs up for his work
  12. Can you link to the ebay fixings at all anyone ? I found these ones which look right: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280810235121?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270401869248?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I did this last week, really easy, just take your time and note which way the new bulbs should go in (not sure if it makes a difference).
  13. This is something that is bothering me beyond belief. I'm half temped to bloody set up a campaign (that'll fall on deaf ears I'm sure) in conjunction with some of the mags etc hmm - probably something out there already right ?
  14. I shall give this a go today, cheers for the guide
  15. A little whiter but no better/worse in terms of visibility. However, why is it the jap cars I've owned have horrendous headlight visibility ? I think I need to adjust the throw of the beam as it's quite short.
  16. I'm pretty sure most supermarkets are lucky dip when it comes to fuel, pretty inconsistent, even the main ones (shell\bp etc) are is to a certain extent.
  17. Just buy one of these for codes\reset, always useful: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CAN-Bus-Trouble-Diagnose-Diagnostic-Scanner/dp/B001CBBY7O/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1359664886&sr=8-5
  18. That's the only super I wouldn't use. Too many additives (iirc) to get 99 ron.
  19. Welcome I see a lady driving a blue roadster out of guildford every few days
  20. Yarp. EDIT: If it's just a top up - I wouldn't consistently use it at all.
  21. Fitted this afternoon, I'll try them out properly this evening - report back later (need some new wheel arch rivets/retainers!)
  22. I think you mean motordyne ART decats, I've got a pair for sale at the moment for a DE. Yep, sorry that's what I meant (and yes I've eyed them up a few times now)
  23. Except Motordyne XYZ decats (from evidence I've heard on YT). Note - I'm referring to what I call (goose) hiss when you come off the gas between 2000-3000 rpm, not the raspy timbre of the sound
  24. Any video/sound clips of the replica exhaust ?
