Yea, I drive carefully on some dusl carriageways and then thru town, zed is a DD and I average 26.x mpg, have done ever since I bought it
-
Yep, including the engine, get a lift I didn't get my winter tyres last year until after the worst of the snow, but the zed on the standard Bridgestones were BY FAR the worst car I have ever driven in the snow by a massive margain. Couldn't even pull away on clutch power alone (using no throttle) without spinning up the wheels. Didn't dare to turn off TC as I could barely drive in a straight line with it on, id end up on the roof if I turned it off!
-
You can get all weather tyres too, probably what those are, but I doubt theyre quite as good as full winters or full summer tyres. Just a half-way house type of thing.
-
Same goes for doing doughnuts I did this once and thought id broken the car Turned TC off as I was getting some new tyres fitted (so didn't care about my current set) and wanted to see how the car donuts, span around for a bit then T/C wouldn't come back on the lights just stayed lit up... Quick re-start of the car and all was well, but I guess its a "feature"...

If I met your Zed down a dark alley it would mug me... mean looking is an understatement with the tints too!

553bhp & 465 lb/ft 370Z Full Amuse with Greddy Twin Turbo
cs2000 replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Member Build Projects
Yeah, im sure some cable ties will hold all of that power in place, I mean, superchargers only spin to around 100,000 RPM right! lol Failing that, duck tape holds all! -
Yeah I had the same fitted by Sly at Kaizer. He said they didn't pose any problems, but the rears are a little shorter than he would have expected leading to an unusual routing of the lines. You tend to get 1 P clamp per line, but for the zed you need two. HE:L may supply them if you ask nicely, or Halfords do a large box of various sizes for not too much $$$

I change to winters whenever the temp drops to below 7c for a few days, this year that was only 2 weeks ago, last year it was mid October and I change out of them whenever it goes above for a few days. In the warm (10c and upwards) the winters are nasty, back end tries to get away taking roundabouts at very sensible speeds, and even in rain tbh they feel less stable but there is less rubber in contact with the road due to the larger gaps between tread blocks, but when driving over slush and especially snow the winters are amazing. I agree with Dan partially however it is partly down to the driver, you cant go honing around on winters in the snow and expect to be fine, but last year on my RE040's I couldn't move in the snow. I was using 0% throttle and moving away softly with the clutch only and still spinning the rears. After trying to get out of my car park for 5-6 mins I slid back into my space and got a lift from someone else.
-
I tend to shift below 3.5k rpm when im just "driving", I actually have my shift indicator set at 3,500. Sky's the limit when im not however (just don't let the limiter kick in.)

Heh, I did this on my celica

Bm is correct. Wiring a head unit to perm live would be fine as long as you remember to turn it off however wiring an amp to perm live means just that, its always on and I have from past experience done this so I know full well it can kill a battery. The idle voltage of those things is surprisingly high. However im not clear if you have an aftermarket amp or just the stock Bose one?? Oh, and since you asked, the bose unit is in the boot, on the left hand side (if you stand facing the rear of the car) underneath the large slab of black polystyrene. If you do just have a stock amp, id rule this out as I see no good reason why you/anyone would have messed with the wiring of that.

My guess is that those darker splodges will polish out after 10 mins with some autosol, but the lighter shading almost looks like its burnt. Wonder if its a cheaper exhaust, Chrome plated or something. I could of course be totally wrong. You would look a bit mad turning up to view a car and insisting on polishing the exhaust, but if the seller wants to sell...

Mines due again in march (11th I believe). Currently very happy with Adrian Flux due to the generous club discount, the free ability to drive any other car and alos the pretty decent excess levels. Even if they aren't the cheapest next year (they were this year, by £3-400!) il stick with them Oh, and its a 12 month policy with 9 payments, meaning in December, Jan & Feb I have "free" insurance

Ok thanks for the reply Crb. I'm not necessarily looking for the loudest intake more just something in between the standard air box & an open cone filter with no heat soak protection. I'm hoping if I did get one that it won't lose me too much power over the standard air box/upgrade panel filter that I have now but will give me a bit more "roar" shall we say when I put my foot down. If it helps, I have one of those metal cone air filter things with no baffles to prevent heat soak, it really makes no difference. Car has never stalled or hesitated even when sat in traffic in the middle of summer. Im sure the dyno would show a BHP drop of 2-5 at max, but the most important measurement (the bum dyno, and the smile on my face) says all is well.

Correct, a lot of school zones have these signposted at 20MPH but its advisory but understanble and I do tend to stick by those, especially if its morning/lunch/evening time when theres likely to be children around.

Great job, looks awesome, sorry for the pain ive caused indirectly! RIP camera

Exactly the same as mine, arm was clanging around and needed a bit of reshaping due to wear on the edges of the hole where the bush sits. Glad you found it quickly, luckily the bush isn't that expensive and labour doesn't take that long either

Pimping air...hmm Lol and yes, you shouldnt ever see that light, if you do its pretty much too late already.

Just a heads up on these. Due to the quirky way british law is written, not all of those signs are legal and binding. If the sign is one of those orange LED displays such as they have on the M25 that says 50 or whatever, you can actually go at the national limit of 70. You only have to abide by a traffic sign if it complies with the regulations which mean it must be a red ring black or white writing on it. So, if you don't see the LED display with a red ring around it to make it look like a sign theyre not legally enforceable and wont have any speed cameras watching them. These are legally binding and you can be prosecuted if you speed past them/the cameras (notice the red ring to imitate a regular sign) These are not (not the correct colour, no red ring)

I agree. I want bridgestone back. And V10's. And refuelling, and Traction control, and nice low rear wings....(I basically want F1 of 5-6 years ago...)
-
FYI, a amp will EASILLY flatten a battery overnight if its wired to perm live.

Problem with the Dartford tunnel is that its got tiled walls, so the sound is deafening Haha, I agree, however I did a London tunnel run around a year and a half ago with a bunch of jap cars. Most of the tunnels we went through all seemed to be tiled walls and I actually had to close my windows several times! far too loud!

looking to buy... transmission noise on test drive!?
cs2000 replied to Pierscoe1's topic in 350Z Technical
As I said before, I think the OP is understandably concerned by the noise. The zed is very mechanical and makes some quite frankly agricultural noises sometimes so its hard to say what is and isn't normal. Best advise was to go and test drive another zed and see if you hear the same noise, if you do, then take your pick, if not, avoid car #1. On a test drive I think everyone drives on edge and understandably questions every rattle and squeak, but you only learn what's normal when you have others cars of the same model to compare it too. I had a quick test drive in BulletMagnet's zed before buying mine so I knew roughly what to expect (damn you Mark! lol) and even then I picked up a car that needed some mechanical work as I stated above. -
Exactly, I have taken my cars to the same garage for the past 5 years and they know that if I roll up the cats are nice and hot ready to go. Had HFC's in my previous car which were always marginal and the zed's always seem to be almost on the limit of passing.
