PICS: Ceramic Pro 9H - a new product from Europe not yet in the UK

Yes, I very much do presently. I know what you mean though, I do enjoy the whole process myself, although there are certain attributes of coatings that do appeal too. -

A coating will only cost £300 if you pay a dealer to throw it at a car (I won't even pretend that they actually apply it, even for that amount!), otherwise you're looking at about £50-80 retail for the actual product. Even most of the professional detailers will offer the non-retail coatings for around half that amount and they even apply it properly for that amount. Nothing will. A good coating, properly applied will offer resistance than a sealant like Jetseal though so you'll see less marring with a (good) coating than you would with a sealant, but you're right it won't eliminate them altogether. That is an issue caused by rubbing a harder, abrasive substance (such as grit) against the surface. This can be reduced with a good wash technique but even then you're only going to minimise the marring, you'll never eliminate swirling. Coatings will be removed by abrasives, yes, however SRP isn't abrasive. It won't actually remove that wash marring either, it's just full of fillers so will merely hide them temporarily until those fillers are washed away again, so you can use SRP over a coating without damaging it... of course it won't bond to the coating at all, so those fillers won't hide much for long anyway. Also, just to be pedantic, you don't want to be polishing with a cloth either. -
Or a suitable application of fire. That would get rid of it too.

I can't imagine Lewis will be saying the same things in the team debriefings though.
-
But how much did the oil, filter and sump plug cost you on top of that? What you mean is, you've just £48 for a P1 service labour.
-
Autosol is more abrasive, so better for cleaning up more pitted surfaces whereas Megs finishes a bit better. Truth be told it's only a small difference between them really. I absolutely hate the smell of the Megs stuff though. That and their spelling of polish on the tub....

Rumour has it today (yes, I know) that he wants to go to Arsenal... because they're all about winning trophies, obviously.
-
Or the door card pocket, or the seat pocket, or the centre cubby...

You have to search really hard for the other 97.

Lack of glove box? There's hundreds of them in the Z! Granted, they're all in the most inaccessible places of ever, but still.

So long as the Simoniz Wheel Protector doesn't react with the bake dust, it's won't be the worst wheel sealant ever. Interested to see how Double Speed Wax gets on though, I've been resisting the urge to test this out myself so at the very least you've saved me a job.

It wasn't so long ago that you got players who wanted to play for a certain team - like Giggs, Scholes, even Gerrard and Beckham at one time. Sadly those days seem to be behind us now and players do tend to play for the likelihood of success and/or money these days (as demonstrated by those last two) - which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does remove that passion for the club as a driving force to improve. I think it's brought up so often as it's something that seemed a lot more in the past than it does now, whether it actually has any bearing on anything tangible is debatable at best though. One might be able to argue (or is that rationalise, perhaps?) that a given player may benefit more developmentally from competing for a place in a better team week after week than not being pushed for a place in a lesser team. You could see it as a player is going to develop more playing every match over a season at Newcastle or Hull team, for example, than playing a dozen games for Chelsea over the season, or that there's going to be more competition for places in that Chelsea squad so whilst he may not make it into the matches he may well still be developing at a higher rate than simply walking into the Hull team without even trying every week. At Liverpool, there's not huge competition for places so is he really being pushed to develop if he stays? On the other hand, is there even any point in developing at all if you're not being played?

I'm fairly sure it wasn't quite as black and white as that. It could have been the deciding factor for him, I wasn't there so I don't know for sure, but there were (apparently) further assurances about the direction of the team and his role in it - second time, he was given the captaincy for example. I agree with you that there are players quite happy to go somewhere and play a bit part or sit on the bench and just collect their wages, I'm not convinced Rooney is one of them necessarily (my opinion is that he falls into the "loves playing and if someone wants to pay him silly money to do so then so be it" category mentioned earlier, but he has been spoiled at United and is now so used to winning trophies that he can't accept a lesser role at this point in his career). It's less reported and/or commented on, but I genuinely think that there's just as many players going from sitting on the bench (at best) at a big club to playing regularly at a smaller club - the number of players United have had out on loan this season/sold in the summer is an example amongst many. It's largely that none cares when someone does that, but when Sterling does this it's in the papers for weeks on end.

Worry not, Supernatural is a very good wax. It'll serve you well and still offers a fair amount of gloss, and as said before most of the gloss comes from the prep anyway -
Clean it with an APC and cloth/brush then when it's clean and dry "feed" it with Einszett Gummi Pflege.

Essentially, yes - I don't know of any (reputable) detailer who would offer a coating without at least advising correction beforehand. If you're after gloss, I would recommend spending your time and money on the preparation stages and stick to a decent, cost effective sealant like FK1000P for now - sealants will tend to offer more gloss than waxes by the way, but FK is so cheap and so easy to use that it's ideal for a novice IMO. -

Beading and sheeting relates to how water behaves on the surface, so it'll have no relation to how shiny/glossy it is. The gloss will almost exclusively come from polishing before the coating, although many coatings (usually glass coatings though) can add a bit of extra gloss too. Like waxes, there are billionty different products that offer a billionty different results. That also applies to the hardness of the coating and the protection it offers against swirling, even those that claim to be 9H (which is actually a meaningless claim at the best of times!) - the hardness of the paint underneath it will ultimately determine just how effective the swirl resistance will be and with Nissan's buttery soft paint you'll still get minor marring relatively easily no matter what you use. The big plus point of coatings is the durability, whilst a wax might last a month or two between applications, coatings tend to last a year or two and aren't as easy to remove as waxes. They do also offer better self cleaning capabilities (as a rule) too, so the car will appear cleaner for longer. -
Yes, agitated with a couple of Wheel Woolies for the barrels and a Valet Pro detailing brush for the face and then rinsed off with the hose.

Fallout Remover test; round 1, match 2. Today's contestants are Waxybox samples, again the wheels were given a simple shampoo wash before conducting the test. First up is; Allowed to dwell for 5 minutes, which did this; This was again allowed a couple more minutes to dwell before being rinsed off. Meanwhile, wheel number two was treated to contestant number 2, this; Which after 5 minutes looked like this; Then allowed a couple more minutes dwell time before being rinsed off. First thing to note is that Koch Chemie was slower to react, it took the best part of 3 minutes to show any reaction whilst AM Details was somewhat quicker at under 1 minute. Contestant number 2 then met wheel number 1, a 5 minute dwell resulted in this; The only reaction there was came from here; Then wheel number two was treated to contestant number one, a 5 minute dwell rested in this; So, er... yeah, a clear winner there, AM Details AM Iron > Koch Chemie pH Balanced Wheel Cleaner. There comes another caveat though, for it seems there is a fair bit of discussion about whether Koch Chemie's offering; some people, including Koch Chemie, claim that it is a fallout remover whilst others, including Koch Chemie, state that it is not a fallout remover at all. No, that's not a typo. Having completed the test, I realised this had happened; This left me with a choice; either buy some more to continue the test, or do what I actually did.... Apply one previous loser to wheel number 2, allow 5 minutes to dwell and; There was an almost instant reaction across the full face of the barrel but by the time I had retrieved the camera it has all dripped down to form this puddle. In the mean time, I also applied this to wheel number 1 too; Which also did this; Therefore, by extrapolation; Auto Finesse Iron Out > Wolfs Deironizer > AM Details AM Iron > Koch Chemie pH Balanced Wheel Cleaner. Or to put it another way, AM Details and Koch Chemie are both eliminated along with Wolf's. There now follows anything between a long interlude in order to generate more fallout to remove and a longer interlude whilst life changes are born out. More will follow just don't expect that any time soon.

By whom you mean the completely unbiased sections such a Souness, Redknapp and Carragher, for example, right?

^^^ That. You can wax over a coating, but you're just wasting product really. A number of coatings these days have been developed to offer very good beading whilst maintaining the sheeting abilities too, so there's not really much to gain from topping a coating (with the exception of the sealants for the first week or two to avoid water spotting whilst the coating cures fully). And as Ed says, not much bonds to a coating either, so any additional layers are short lived. -
Absolutely nothing wrong with that, in my opinion, providing that player (and his agent/family/friends/new employers/anyone, ever) doesn't claim that he's moving clubs for any other reason. In this case Sterling may well want to win trophies and that's fine too, he's unlikely to win much at Liverpool so it's the logical solution. He may even be willing to forego wages in that quest for success as his agent has said, and that's fine. But if it turns out he ends up somewhere equally as likely to win nothing yet ends up on higher wages, or even at somewhere likely to win trophies but he pushes for higher wages, then that makes him just as bad as Stevie "I'm Liverpool through and through, me" Gerrard, who is leaving simply because Liverpool won't play him as much as he wants. The biggest thing with the whole Sterling situation is the way that it's been handled and played out in public rather than being dealt with properly (on either side). It doesn't leave either Liverpool or Sterling looking too good really.

Read it here perhaps?

Two things amuse me about this particular excerpt; 1) development at Liverpool? And more so 2) differentiating between "a top club" and Liverpool. Back on topic though, my opinion may be slightly jaded but... would he go to any other club likely to win trophies for less money than Liverpool are offering in his new contract? I doubt it. Although his agent has now put him in a difficult position - he's clearly not staying at Liverpool so runs the risk that Liverpool won't play him (much) in the mean time, but any club that might be interested in him knows full well that he's desperate to move and "isn't in it for the money" so won't be doing much to tempt him away. His "value" has just plummeted throughout all this. Assuming Liverpool hold him to the 2 years left on his contract and they win some trophies in that time (yeah, I know, I amuse me too ), does that mean he'll change his mind and stay? Even for less than the terms Liverpool are currently (or were before his agent opened his mouth) offering? I just can't see that (not least of all the Liverpool winning something bit ). It's an excuse trotted out by too many players these days, last year it Sagna who went to Man City to win trophies (the ridiculous wage was just coincidental of course), and he's won nothing yet.

Not enough people know that film. It makes me unbelievably happy when others join in my geekery.
