  1. It might be possible to tidy them up but it'll take forever if you're doing a few. It would be easiest to replace with anodized bolts in a colour of your choice. Either fine (1200 or so) wet and dry or paint them in a colour that matches/contrasts the pretty new bolts you've just bought. Metal polish, fine steel wool and some elbow grease. Or a machine polish if you have one. I could hazard a guess at that one but it'd only be a guess, so I'll leave that one to someone who knows better than I.
  2. I reset mine after having it for four months, it was reading 23 (ish) when I reset it - mainly driving through town with the odd a/b road run. It was rest about 100 odd miles ago and it's currently reading... 23. Again. This being a 5 mile stop=start type drive into work and 15 mile A road drive home. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I probably average about 23 mpg.
  3. Daily driven. My other car has only recently turned a wheel for the first time since I got the Zed... and even then it was only driven 6 feet.
  4. Or just not drive it? Looks good, Dave.
  5. In the sun, yes but only because of the pearl. In any other weather (also known as British weather ) then IMHO of course.
  6. Scoobynet is your best bet for advice on that one. You might even recognise some people over there. Just to contrast what Zugara has said; I found my scoob was actually no worse than my Zed is around town (mid to low 20's mpg - I did manage to get that down to a single digit once on track though ). That said, mine very much wasn't brand new. If you're looking at Hawk Eyes, that shouldn't be an issue for you either (it not being brand new, rather than the mpg ) I've not heard of fuel buggering up the ECU, but low RON fuel will munch the engine fairly efficiently unless mapped for it. It'll suffer from knock considerably more than a Zed would on low RON fuel, for example. The power delivery is quite raw (slightly more refined in a New Age than in the classics) and it's certainly not a GT car. It feels painfully slow until the turbo spools up and you get a big shove in the back as it comes alive. It needs more working of the gearbox for it to shift but it does just stick to the road. The Hawks are quite heavy compared to earlier Imprezas too. It's a completely different car to the Zed so I'd definitely recommend test driving one before making your mind up on them. Can't offer any insight into the others though as I've never had the pleasure, the only thing that leaps out is that the Elise would appear to be somewhat... less practical than the others you mention.
  7. You're lucky, the wheels fall off and the radio re-tunes itself if you do that four times!
  8. Nearly as shiny there as the day I picked it up.
  9. Nope, only when they're blue.
  10. I ran out of arsed. That's a job for this weekend... maybe.
  11. The Auto Trader links you've put up have your post code on them and there's a silver Astra Coupe parked next to your Hyundai You might want to use a different post code if you're going to post links to Auto Trader, luckily I'm just a nosey bu**er.
  12. Tell your neighbour his silver Astra could do with a wash
  13. I hadn't noticed that. It's just the angle the pictures are taken at, honest.
  14. And right on cue; Quite happy with the beading though. Cheers for the comments guys. I forgot to ask, but what products did you use… Valet Pro snow foam and I finished off the remnants of my Megs Hyperwash with the two bucket method to wash - I had been using the Megs as a snow foam, but didn't have enough left so took the opportunity to try something else for comparison as much as anything. Dodo Juice Supernatural medium clay bar - first time I've used this as well as I've been using the Megs Quick clay previously. Poorboys Black Hole topped with Dodo Juice Blue Velvet. These were both new to me as well. For the wheels, I had an Iron X sampler, so gave that a go... good product, but it stinks. Then used my usual Chemical Guys sticky wheel cleaner too.Tyres are dressed with some Turtle Wax Nano Tyre dressing that I have no idea where it came from, but I've had it a while and seems to last quite well. Exhaust was attacked with Megs Metal Polysh (as were the headlights last weekend). The engine was still fairly clean so that just got a wipe down and coated in Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care to make it all shiny again. I think that's it.
  15. Seeing as I had some spare time on my hands and the weather has been compliant, I thought I ought to give the Zed a more concerted effort for the first time since I've had it - the previous owner seems to have looked after it well, so it hasn't really needed much more than the occasional wash until now, but seeing as I had some new products to play with I used it as an excuse to try them out. There's no before pictures as it wasn't that dirty to start with really having been washed two weeks before. The only downside is that the sun's run away in time for the photos and rather typically it's set to rain heavily any time now until Wednesday! So with no further ado, some pictures; I may have gone a bit overboard on the pictures.
  16. Fantastic results, looks great.
  17. This. And I get the exact same responses too. I used to say "a Datson", but got more blank looks than the time I made reference to Bill Hicks
  18. It's got scam written all over it. I'd wager if you were to contact the "seller" you'd receive a string of excuses about being out of the country/on an offshore oil rig and they'll arrange delivery through a "third party" (usually claimed to be Pistonheads; who don't offer such a service) who you pay and the third party will release the car to you and the cash to the "seller" when they have both. In reality, you've just given two grand away. Morgan Cars don't have it on their website so I'd suggest it's a hacked account. It's also no longer showing in the search so it looks like Pistonheads agree with me.
  19. I noticed that mine was getting progressively worse (after I figured out the mixture knob like others ), I followed this handy guide (clicky) to cleaning my lance and it's much better now.
