... and now I have that song stuck in my head! I should have typed "orange" rather than "citrus" there though. Orange coconuts do not smell nice. A good suggestion and one that I've already tried. To be quite honest, I probably wouldn't be mixing it if I didn't have so many unused sample sized bottles of stuff (and that's after I've given away many, many bottles to car-cleaning-fwiends too. I'm sure it's reproducing ). I do like the protection that BSD leaves, I just don't get on with the application. So I figured rather than having 20 bottles of unused QD's lying around, I'd try mixing them and have 10 bottles of unused QD's lying around instead.

I know you typed other words, but the only bit I heard.read was this; Do it. Do it now! On a slightly more serious note (do it!) that'll definitely need paint then, I'm afraid. You might as well try it yourself first - you've got nothing to lose at this point. And then do the Midnight Purple 2 thing anyway.
-
Let me know how you get on with it at different ratios, please. I might still visit this at some point, but it's certainly dropped down the pecking order.

On a slightly related topic (of QD's, not WetCoat); I've been trying to make my Waxybox supplied stockpile of Sonax BSD more me-friendly as I don't get on with the grabbiness of it. I have taken to mixing it with various other QD's to experiment with, the latest of which being Valet Pro Citrus Bling which was diluted 4:1 with water, then mixed roughly 120ml of diluted Citrus Bling with roughly 45ml of BSD. The resultant mixture works okay, it's much nicer to use than pure BSD but still has the water behaviour. The massive downside is that citrus and coconut are scents that just don't work together.

Nice video Stu. Regarding Bubbly Jubbly, it's one that I've wanted to try myself... until now. Maybe it's just me, but I personally am somewhat weary of it now as it didn't lift the bird lime off, especially after a 10 minute dwell. I know you said that you didn't rinse the wheels off too much after, but the amount of dirt still on them puts me off this and there's some splash marks on the sill I would have expected it to lift off. From the video it doesn't look like you were too far from the panels (or wheels for that matter, I'm not sure I'd have got much closer than that with the pressure washer myself) so I wouldn't say from that, that the rinse was to blame for the lack of cleaning.

What a very odd place to suffer that kind of damage! Looks quite deep, towards the bottom there especially, I assume it catches the nail if you run a finger over it? If so, it's going to need paint. You could try some touch up paint (Paints4U would be a good place), fill the damage in the wet sand & polish to finish. Failing that a smart repair should be straightforward enough for that. If it's not quite as bad as it looks, you might be able to get away with polishing it out, but I fear it may be too deep for that.

That's pretty much the right stage for it - after the wash stage, whilst the car's still wet, apply & rinse WetCoat, optional dry, walk away. Instant protection top up. Out of interest, what was your LSP before applying WetCoat? I'm assuming it was fairly fresh still? WetCoat is brilliant on failing LSP's as a top-up (or unprotected paint for that matter), but if your underlying LSP is still good then it's magic might not be as noticeable in comparison. Did you notice any change in the sheeting, particularly the speed of it? Curses, my secret is out. ETA: I've got a QD stockpile myself after giving up with them months ago.

Don't know about a ricer, but that's actually the very definition of a Barry Boy according to their site. Sorry. ETA: I too don't see the point in adding a harness bar just for aesthetics, but I also don't care enough about someone else doing it to argue about it.

interesting example. Agreed it's gramatically OED type wrong. But it's SO common and frequently used by the people here I have figured it's up there same as having an accent or a type of regional slang. Same with the greeting of 'orrite' Also language also evolves so grammatical changes don't have a fixed rule for all variations. I'll frequently try write a text in full emoticons, just like they did back in the days of the Pharaohs. You see, it's apathy like that which got "literally" re-defined to mean literally anything these days.

And watch out for the "extras" when ordering from Thailand.

Fair enough, if that's what works for you, I must confess time has rarely been a consideration for me. I'm somewhat surprised that, as a professional, you don't adopt the the well versed "start with the least aggressive and work your way up" mantra though.
-
Just out of interest, how many Z's have you worked on with this? I'd say microfibre pads are way too aggressive for the terribly soft paint myself, especially for the novice machine polisher.

You see, I just don't "get" show cars.

For the same reason they'd spend thousands to fit & paint a bodykit to commute to a meet?

WARNING POSSIBLE SCAM ON PH05 ROD...
ilogikal1 replied to hairyman68's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
On the flip side of this though, how happy would you be if someone told the bank that you've defrauded them of their money and they withhold your balance from you whilst they "investigate" the claims? Without any evidence of wrong doing the bank shouldn't act, it's not their job, the police should. Unfortunately that's not going to happen because the politicians are too busy playing games of one-upmanship to worry about trivialities such as an efficient, effective police force. -
I see your link and raise you one link. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-31483631

That in itself is nothing new on Top Gear though (except the actual i8 of course ), it's quite common for them to fawn over a car in the video section and then back in the studio the conversation usually starts with "yes, it's great and all but...". Usually ending with the phrase "...so I wouldn't buy one". It works as a method of saying it does x.y & z well but it also has these flaws too, I guess. It does make even more of a mockery of their mockery of the Porsche design team for the last eleventy years though.

You are. It's a pre-wash, not a touchless wash. Although I've found the all of the VP offerings to be quite meh at best personally. The problem with snow foams is the variables - how much is added to the bottle, if/how much it's diluted in the bottle, water pressure feeding the pressure washer, water pressure from the pressure washer, condition of the lance (assuming a proper foam lance is even used ), even the water hardness, etc, etc. Whereas Citrus Pre-washes are typically a set dilution through a spray bottle so it's a lot easier to get consistency from a citrus pre-wash. I do agree that Citrus Pre-washes work better on coatings or unprotected cars than even a good snow foam does. However I have found citrus pre-washes tend to degrade waxes considerably quicker than snow foams though, but cleaning power-wise I've not seen any difference in a good foam at the right PIR compared to a (good) citrus pre-wash on a car with a wax or sealant as it's LSP.

New 370Z owner with a few questions!
ilogikal1 replied to Southpaw89's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
I'm sure someone will be along shortly to address the 370 specific queries, but the one's I can help with; In short, no. Not with the standard equipment anyway, it's phone calls only. Personally I would rinse (with a hose, unless you trust a pressure washer on it) and just give it a quick scrub with a suitable brush then rinse again afterwards.
