MOT Passed. - Didn't expect these advisories though

It's not louder than this one. -
I agree with the principal. I certainly agree that, that is a (if not the) problem. And I can see your point, I don't inherently disagree with that either, I think all we disagree on is perhaps the methods. It is clear to me that harsher steps need to be taken, however where we seem to disagree is that I would add the sentiment of "in certain cases" to that rather than (and I don't want to put words in your mouth here, this is just what I'm inferring here) your sentiment of "in all cases". I also accept that "certain", in my perception, would realistically likely mean "most" too. This I very much agree with in every way. I also agree that these people should be segregated from the "normal" population, certainly from any contact with impressionable idiots. These are not the people who I'm referring to though, I'm referring to those impressionable idiots. If someone goes anywhere, whether it be Syria or wherever, for fight for ISIS, to participate in any meaningful way then yes, by all means refuse entry back into society where they could do more harm. Equally though, don't allow them to go back to Syria/wherever they could equally do as much harm with renewed hatred for the Western world that's turned it back on these people. Jihadi John, for example, if he came whimpering back, should not be allowed to integrate into society again (IMO) but similarly he shouldn't be allowed, much less ordered, to return to ISIS. Those impressionable idiots though, I think they should be treated differently. Let's say, for arguments sake, that those girls get to Syria and realise the grim reality doesn't in fact live up to their delusional dreams of a better world. In my opinion these are the people who can be reintegrated into society over here - I'm not saying instantly, by the way, but rather eventually once the relevant authorities are certain that they pose no threat. I realise this poses a number of problems - where do you draw the line/how can you be sure they don't pose a threat/what do you do with these people in the mean time, etc. along with the points you raised previously, Jetpilot - and there is no black and white here and I know it's far from a perfect solution. I just think that if it's a viable solution to part of a problem, it's worth considering.

The SEAT is currently being used a lot more than it was previously with regular trips across the country via motorways, as such it's also getting washed a lot more frequently. Which has nothing to do with this particular post, but I'm mentioning it for those keeping track of Gyeon Prime's behaviour. Anyway, having skipped last week's wash out of sheer laziness, I gave it another wash today. It had a fair film of grime covering it but still remarkably clean compared to the much less used Z. There's no pictures of the Leon because it doesn't look any different to two weeks ago (either in the before or after photos actually), so I didn't bother with pictures this time. I started off with a pre-wash combination of Car Chem Citrus Pre Wash on most panels and a test panel with AutoSmart G101 (as I'm starting to run low on citrus cleaners), both mixed at 20:1. Surprisingly G101 seemed to work a little bit better than CPW, however neither did much against the stubborn, dried on film despite pulling off quite a bit of dirt. This was followed up with wash using the intended focus of this post; As you can see from the instructions on the bottle, it's suggested dilution ratios is 200:1-500-1. Being a man, I didn't read these instructions first and instead opted for the much more scientific method of using "this much" in the bucket. It seems I've used about 20ml (ish) in a 12 litre bucket filled up to about 10 litres; which, as chance would have it, is about 200:1 (ish). So having guessed the amount of shampoo and the amount of water and the dilution ratios, I can conclude; Nanolex Pure shampoo is fairly sudsy in the bucket, which transfer to the paint quite well. Like most other Nanolex products, it doesn't really have a fancy scent added, although unlike most Nanolex products it did seem to have a faint something disguising the usual "chemically smell" - it was very subtle and I could only detect it whilst filling the bucket inside, once outside I couldn't smell it at all. Whilst I can't place the scent (I didn't have much of chance to, to be honest) it certainly wasn't unpleasant. Even at the lower dilution ratio it feels very slick on the paintwork. I didn't feel any drag at all, even the dirtier, lower sections of the car. It cleans exceptionally well too; no effort required to remove the traffic film left by the pre-wash, there was no need for any "scrubbing" to lift any of the stubborn marks either - in fact it only required an extra pass or two with the Waschpudel (backup to my preferred Incredisponge, which is still in the washing pile) and no real pressure beyond the weight of the wet Waschpudel. It rinsed off very freely and true to form left nothing behind on the paint. All in all, a very good shampoo that might become a stable product in my arsenal depending entirely on price - it is going to have to compete for space with the Car Chem shampoo after all! First impressions of Nanolex Pure are very good, although it should probably be noted that it really doesn't take much to get a car wearing a Gyeon coating (albeit one that is nearing half way through it's expected lifespan) clean again, so I'll be using it on the Z with it's multi-flavoured, multi-coloured, multi-aged coats of many products soon to really test it's cleaning ability. On the topic of that, it's currently raining and I've just become aware that I've not provided any beading pictures on Nano One, Origin, Connoisseur or Citrus BSD. Despite the filth, that might change soon. You have been warned.

I'd definitely go for the Ferodo DS2500 pads over the EBC's every time. I'll second that.
-
It can't be that... ... it's in focus.

You'll probably get a few different suggestions as everyone has their own favourites. Before I empty your bank account for you what's your budget? What products do you already have? And how much effort do you want to put in?

The day you have 6 waxes on your wing mirrors is the day that my work here is done. I did notice the grouping actually (I was going to poke fun at the Metal Twins being between the Xerapol and the trim dressings... but then polishes/dressings, I see what you did there. ). I'm liking the lucky dip idea though, that would solve many an hour's umming and ahhing over which product to try this week. I'll also forgive your questionable product ownership... largely because that description is awesome. Although I am slightly concerned by you tasting your products; I know the first thing I do with most products is give it good whiff and some of them do smell nice enough to eat, but Stu, you need to restrain yourself man. I also apologise profusely for suggesting you may have overfilled your lance bottle, this was clearly a mistake on my part for not allowing the displacement of the pick-up tube.

Whilst I do wholly agree with that last sentence, regarding the one way ticket part; is it not better to at least attempt to de-radicalise as many of these people as possible? In the same way that ISIS are recruiting the loons, is it not more beneficial to counter (where possible) that rather than to simply turn our backs to anyone who gets swayed? I appreciate that's not going to be possible for every single one of these people, but if it stops even a small percentage of them from becoming (or even continuing) terrorists and/or threats to anyone else, surely that is better than not trying at all?

Well if MI5 are to blame for "Jihadi John"....

Surely rumours are rife for Alonso to take the second seat at Marussia Manor (and then out drive the McLaren) at the behest of Evil Lord Ron... after all, he's the real reason Alonso won't be in the McLaren in Australia, right?

I take no responsibility for anything in that picture, Stu. You've missed the 1litre mark ( ), I spy R***-X ( ), and all the labels are facing different ways...

As Granville said really. If you're still having trouble getting a reading, remove the filler cap and the dipstick, leave the oil to settle for a few minutes and try again. You might only get a 3 or 4 attempts before you need to give it a minute or so resettle again, but that should be plenty to get a couple of good readings.
-
A larger outlay, as you say, but last much longer between applications so comparatively inexpensive.

This basically means they are questioning the actual damage inflicted at the time of the incident. This should, in theory, be something that's fairly easy to "prove" (as such) provided sufficient evidence of the damage was collected prior to repair work starting, i.e. plenty of photos showing the damage and no discrepancies between the photos, claim details and repair bill (hence the break down for the bill too). In theory it shouldn't hold up progress a great deal. In practice though, it may be another story. Good luck with it all.

I'll wade in here and recommend either Gliptone or Dr Leather spray for the occasional (1 or 2 times a year) deep clean. Dr Leather wipes for more regular maintenance cleans. Once it's cleaned, give it a coat or two of Gyeon Leather Coat or Dr Beasley's Leather Lock 2 or 3 times a year (respectively) to protect.

Yay, another convert.

I'll over look the dirty R word there (I'm not a fan of that stuff). Better now though. And it's still a lovely colour.
-
Lovely colour in the sun. Just needs a tyre dressing.

I just did an actual "LOL" at this.

It scrubs up well.

I have experience of reading this thread. That's enough for me to come to the informed opinion that people who aren't you didn't have the same experience as people who are you. You, and a few others, had a good experience. A few others did not. You stated a lack of understanding of why people were saying they didn't have a high opinion of SGS despite the fact that you do; I clarified that point to alleviate your confusion. You're welcome. I'm certain at least one of us was talking out of his "ass" as usual though.
-
A word of advice; give up now or accept that it'll drive you ******* mental trying to keep it shiny.
-
A shiny one.
-
Because other people have had other experiences. Obviously.
