  1. Did anyone actually dyno before and after this? I did ask early on and it was going to be done but nothing ever turned up. Still really interested to know what £37.50 buys you!
  2. Well I've taken the plunge and made my first investment today, I've decided to make 2 investments of around £500 each and go from there. Its become obvious that this is really the bare minimum amount to stand a chance of turning anything up. still, its within my ISA wrapper so its not all bad! Thanks for any advice I've already taken! Kev
  3. Yes thanks for that, I did reflect on this and decided that perhaps investing at least £500 in each stock is a better idea. In reality it might even be worth investing the full £1000 in a single stock and going from there. These are all useful things to learn at the start!
  4. All super suggestions chaps thanks! I'm a bit fortunate that my brother also owns a 350 zed so maybe I can convince him to let me have my speed fix every now and then! Its definitely a keeper as long as I have the room for it, I just wonder how long I can go without digging it out! Kev
  5. Is it really "worth" selling though. it doesn't owe me anything and being an import its realistically worth about 5 grand tops, at this money I'm not sure its going to loose much more..... I'm also not sure in a few years time I'm going to be able to buy another one as clean or low mileage as this either and I've grown to love it in a strange sort of way..... I suppose you are probably right but I'd kind of like to keep it and preserve it for future generations!
  6. Morning All. Long story short. Recently had a little boy (the missus not me), The zed has been put away for winter and I've bought a Shed to run about it. The problem is that come spring time when I would normally bring the Zed out I'm not going to be able to because we need 2 cars with 4 seats because of the little dude.. I'll be buggered if I'm putting up a "new baby forces sale" ad so I was thinking that I might leave my Zed in the garage for a year or two until I can investigate disabling the air bag for a forward facing child seat. anyway, all that aside, I was wondering what your thoughts on long term storage was. The tyres are due for replacement so I'm not too worried about flat spots but I'm not sure if its worth unloading the suspension by putting it on stands? I'll also do all the usual fluid changes etc and will hopefully get to fire it up every few months but is there anything glaringly obvious I've missed? on a side note I did see a box you could buy to disable the air bag but I believe these were discontinued.... any info on these appreciated! Cheers Kev
  7. Thanks guys... yeah I know its not something you can really advise on, I guess that wasnt the best way to put it. like most things, when you are at the deepend getting ready to jump its always a daunting task, money or no money! I've picked up a couple of interesting websites and doing plenty of reading so I'll have to take the plunge and get it done sooner or later! I had considered a virtual portfolio but really it doesnt interest me if there isnt at least a little wager in there! Kev
  8. Morning All! I know this is a bit of an unanswerable question but I'll give it a whirl anyway! I've just opened a stocks and shares ISA and initially I have £1000 to chuck at it as a starter rather than a mega serious investment. If I manage to get my head round it all I might look at it as a more serious investment further down the line but I really just want to immerse myself in the whole thing to get familiar with how it all works without putting up any serious money just yet. anyway, I was looking for about 5 companies across differing sectors (this is flexible given the small amount of capital to invest). I was wondering if anyone has any promising investments at the moment they wanted to share with me. in addition to this any advice/explanations/web sites to visit etc would be really welcomed to a complete novice!! Thanks in advance... Kev
  9. typically not 1 week after selling my track car do I find an available day at my local airfield when I'm not working... I did it last year in my MX5 so I know what to expect but is it worth a thrash out in the 350z? Being a heavy car I'm not 100% sure what to expect from it..... and do I turn the TCS off and go all out or stay within the safety of the VDC? I have a part worn set of Bridgestones so its a good opportunity to get them completely knackered and its coming towards the end of the season so I'm not too bothered about blowing it up... any advice from you 350 track drivers welcome!! Cheers Kev
  10. forgot to add, I also have a spare set of drive shafts I can include in the sale.
  11. It was rumoured to weigh just under a tonne although I have no documentary evidence of this!
  12. The time has come to sell my 144 Track car I have. As usual space is needed for other projects and I'm simply not getting time to use it! Long story short! This car started out life as a P11-144 Sport Plus in silver (99 T Reg). During its track prep we converted the CVT6 to a Manual and fitted a P11GT Gearbox and all required clutch pedals and cables. The car also had a full respray about 4 years ago in Ford white so the paintwork and condition of the car is very good. The car has glass front and rear screens but all side windows are perspex. pretty much all the interior is removed although I'm sure the pictures speak for themselves. The car was last dyno'd at 172BHP although I do not have the dyno slip anymore to prove this but given the spec I have no reason for you to doubt it. It did actually have MOT up until february and has only covered about 1000 miles since last MOT. It was driven on the road for a few months and then dry stored in my garage. We also did a trackday at Elvington where the picture is from. I'll air on the side of caution and say this is probably for the track enthusiast but I see no reason why it couldnt be returned to the road with a bit of effort if thats what you wanted to do! Obviously car will need to be trailored away but can be seen driving on private land and will drive onto a trailer. I would also recommend replacing the front brakes in the not too distant future due to the car being stood and slight cracking around the drilled holes. Rears are also looking a bit rusty! Included in the sale is the Private plate N8 CKM V5 is present and car is HPI clear Details are as follows: Nissan Primera 2.0 Sport Plus 2.0 SR20De engine JWT Cams Aftermarket exhaust Manifold (believed to be hotshot or equivalent) Custom built Stainless exhaust system Cold Air intake system Nissan 300zx Z32 MAF Magnecor Spark plug wires Apexi SAFC II Fuel computer Apexi Rev speed meter. P11 GT Clocks Custom painted "Black" headlights Sparco Bucket Seat Sparco Harness's Sparco Steering Wheel E-Tech Strut Brace Battery relocated behind passenger seat with manual cut off Nissan Skyline R32 GTR Front Discs & Calipers Koni Suspension & Springs Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2? wheels full set of hubcentric spacers Tyres are Federal and have a couple of track days left. There is well over a grands worth of second hand parts on this car (GTR calipers on their own don't come cheap)and I dare say you could probably double your money it it was broken up but it would be nice to see this car live again on the track where it belongs. There is also still a lot of potential for things to do on this solid base but I reckon it would make a good starter car. Offers in the region of £900 Any questions please contact me directly to kevin@midnightracer.net
  13. I know exactly what you mean, i felt exactly the same about my 5. Having done some track time with some other mx5's i would really fancy a charged one! I also had best intentions to leave mine alone!
  14. slightly slimmer with cans on the larger side for me!
  15. I fully understand where you are coming from, I'm surprised people aren't being a bit more honest unless they don't have much car history. I think you need to appreciate the Zed for what it is, Its a pretty good GT Car. A sports car its not and that's what people often expect it to be. Its a heavy car and chucking it around the B roads will never be as good as something lighter like an MX5 or even a hot hatch (focus ST and the likes). Its also not a muscle car, nor is it a hot hatch so all in all its a bit of an outcast in the younger guys car world in my eyes However....... As a car, it gets lots of heads turning, has great sound and power delivery, looks 100% Japanese (if you like that sort of thing), is comfortable and for a trip to the Ring should really be one of the best cars for the money you could take (I'm also ring bound next week so will get to experience this first hand (and no ringbound doesn't mean a visit to the doctor)). The 350 is far from the best car I have owned but I still really like it and is definitely an experience worth having!
  16. I agree. It should sell for about £6995 on a forecourt so it sounds about right. Its also worth a mention that the dealer will have to pay VAT on the profit he makes which could knock £300 off his profit straight away!
  17. I had similar on my clocks. the alarming thing was the mileage was ticking up too because it thought I was doing 180. It only did it when hot outside on mine.... I presumed the sun through the windscreen was heating the clocks Is yours a JDM car with a speedo converter on? Mine was and although I never put it down to the converter I would remove that first to prove a point. I did resolder my joints but it made no difference although I never did replace the converter. failing that and my solution was a new set of clocks I'm afraid, I took the chance to convert to UK clocks so it wasn't too bad for me in the end and I got some at a good price. I would guess it was caused by a dry joint somewhere that's affected by the heat but I didn't have time to inspect my clocks in that much detail. Hope this helps. Kev
  18. Thank god I dont drink or smoke, I wouldnt be able to afford the Zed if I did yeah its a shocker if you think about it. I was in Barcelona last week and paid 11 euros for 2 small bottles of beer, I nearly had a coronary!
  19. I don't know how the rates will be set for business's but for a private letter it still seems fair enough to me considering we happily spend £3 on a pint of beer and £7 on a packet of cigs these days.
  20. I'll be there with another Zed on the 15th April before buggering off down to the black forest.
  21. If you are looking at new or nearly new shedding then have you considered something like a Focus? We have just bought a 2011 Focus 1.6 diesel so still 2 years left on the warranty and while it ranks among the most unexciting cars I have ever driven it does its job brilliantly. loads of room inside Good fuel economy (mid 40's round town, up to 70 on a run) plenty of toys (sat nav, bluetooth, alloys, sports suspension, heated front screen etc etc) super cheap on road tax (£30 per year) Also looks pretty nice (Zetec & Sport packages)
  22. They seize on because they usually don't have a rubber washer inside the cap. Its not usually the threads that seize but more the cap onto the top of the valve. I'd leave them to soak over night to let the WD40 penetrate down the threads.
  23. Like you I did it for that reason. I also find my clock flashes rapidly some of the time and remains constant others. There is obviously something different!
