  1. Hi all, hoping someone can shed some light on this! Aftermarket head unit fitted, seems to be the same on 2 different units. JDM car When I turn the ignition on the radio comes on and it takes about 3 seconds before I get any decent signal. With a stubby aerial fitted I get about bugger all! I did some digging about the aerial setup and there was reference to the aerial on the 350z being powered and the box was behind the panels in the boot. This I have found and it does indeed seem to be some sort of diversity aerial which isn't easy to remove without cutting it out. I'm tempted to rip the whole lot out and run a new standard aerial cable but before I do can anyone shed any light on the matter, is there a wire in the stock loom I need to connect to power this box up or anything else I'm missing? Thanks in advance Kev
  2. A repaired cat C should realistically be worth 25% to 30% less than an undamaged example. The grim truth is most people run a mile from anything thats on the register be it cat c or d.... Often a great cheap buy but also a cheap sell. Some of these people asking top money for a cat car are living in a dream world IMHO!
  3. I knew this thread would bring out the scaremongers! those who actually work in the trade know that discs dont just jump off cars on a daily basis killing all those on board, it is more likely cheap discs will warp quicker and wear out quicker. Yes cheaper means cheaper but expensive doesnt always mean good.
  4. I had some pattern ones fitted by my garage on the instruction that they fitted them to porsches and they were fine. They promptly warped in about 500 miles so they swapped them out for slightly more expensive ebc discs and they have been fine since, track day and all. I simply couldnt justify the price of brembos...
  5. Right Update from above. For whatever reason my JDM car has 4 wires going to the door actuator. Black, White, Grey and Yellow. I don't know if this is just my car but this might be a difference between the two. Anyway, I settled on the Yellow wire in the end and its all working ok! The manual points to the Yellow wire being the lock command to the drivers door only but I'm not sure if that's actually the case. Works fine with my Central locking either way!
  6. Anyone JDM done theirs yet? I've just looked at the last step and the purple wire doesnt exist in the black split trunking. I have 4 wires in total, can anyone shed any light? ta!
  7. It might be ISOFIX that you are referring to... right on that front, it would need to be one that affixes with the seatbelt I guess
  8. Thanks guys. Fully aware of the law and its perfectly legal (forward facing) and safe enough if done correctly. I would obviously buy the box to disable the air bags if I could but they are no longer available it would seem so I'll have to take the safe approach and just not crash!! I just wondered if anyone had used a specific seat to save me having to go through loads until I find one that fits! Ta!
  9. Just wondering if anyone has bought a forward facing child seat for their 350z and if so what brand they got? From May this year my little dude is old enough to go forward facing and it would be nice to take him out in the Zed on our day together. Cheers Kev
  10. I would guess they are just H7's but im not 100%. i would also imagine 100 watt bulbs might just melt the plastic lenses! if they are H7 then the philips xtreme power are pretty good and still road legal
  11. Not quite 1000! Typical italian reliability..
  12. Admiral insured my import with no problems last year.
  13. unfortunately the parts prices haven't yet dropped inline with the price you now pay for the vehicles. In terms of prices people ask for both OEM and aftermarket the zed is the most costly car I have ever owned. pretty much as has been said above too!
  14. the reprogram yourself function is just the keyless entry bit. you need the dealer to program the transponder to your car which is usually the expensive part!
  15. generally 200sx's/180sx's have pop up lights when you are talking S13. S14 and above dont have pop up lights what you also get are import S13 silvias which have none pop up lights. You then get strawberry face (newer S14 or S15 front end on an S13 etc), sileighties (front end of a silvia on a 180sx , and onevias (front end of a 180sx on a silvia) the UK S13 came with a 1.8 CA18DET engine only import S13's came with an SR20DET which is why they are very rare. the UK S14 then came with SR20DET's these didnt have pop up lights either. S13's generally understeer like hell followed by massive oversteer which makes for an interesting drive if you push it. That said it was one of the best cars I have ever owned (mine was only a Stage 1 CA18DET) This is basically the gist but there are plenty of other things going on!
  16. I have an ideal and its forever breaking down. Ill probably have a Worcester/Bosch put in next time. Price sounds about right for me. Id expect to pay about 2 grand.
  17. Also worth mentioning it will be vibrating your hands due to too much pressure, again usually needed because of too much polish.
  18. They are just like you describe and a world away from a flex, two totally different things. I have both and they both have their uses, you should maybe take some time to get used to it. Id say the reason its not buffing off is because you have used too much polish, its a pretty common thing! hope this helps
  19. Sorry to hear about your problems but were these items actually part of the service listed? washer jets blocked , tire pressure not checked , rears low , air filter very dirty and not changed or cleaned Unfortunately nowadays things like this often arent actually part of a service. In the good old days a service took all day and included everything right down to your nipples! as time has moved on service times get shorter and the dealer has to put their prices up to cover their overly expensive diagnostics and the fact that their workers all want 25 grand a year for shredding paper because its a bare minimum. People refer to them as stealers and I'm absolutely certain there are some out there but be under no illusion that your main dealer is making a bucket load of money these days, its quite the opposite!
  20. Flyboy! did you get my payment ok? it was sent on the 10th Cheers Kev
  21. Sounds about right given the work involved, its about half a respray.
  22. I got my missis a charm for her bracelet from the Pandora shop and she got me some incredibly ball hugging boxer shorts!
  23. While I disagree with everything I'm about to say in the interests of it possibly helping you out you could look at the following. If the deposit was taken over the phone you should be able to persue the route of distance selling rules.. Talk to the dealer and tell them you have taken advice and they arent legally alowed to hold your deposit if they dont play ball mention solicitors involvement, distance selling rules, trading standards, lots of forums you frequent etc etc. while they "could" hold out many dealers will just give you your money back because its not worth the hasstle in the end over £500.
