  1. It's weird how on one classic it looks terrible but on a different one it actually works and really suites the character of the car. Keyser green it is then, all I need now is to ask Dan where he got his rear wing from. Just an excuse to get a picture of a Lamborghini Miura into my build thread.
  2. All sound advice Vlad. Out of interest do you have the first floor plans? If it is an internal structural wall it will be a single skin of brick or block. To make a 2m wide opening with steel, structural calcs, replaster etc you should budget for 2k to 3k. If the garage is an add on, there is a chance the wall is a double skinned cavity wall and would be more expensive to do. You mentioned that the garage was converted into a dining room, just check that it complies with building regs and isn't a diy affair. All the best with your house hunting.
  3. Thanks for your input Chris, and after much careful and time consuming consideration your suggestion has unfortunately been rejected.... While it was an original Jaguar colour option, it is infact effing hideous.
  4. Don't start! Racing green was an option but in the end I really like the gunmetal / red leather combination. Looks better in this one...
  5. Thanks guys. The bodyshop will be sending me pictures and I will be trying to call in to have a look. Either way they want me to sign everything off before it goes into colour. It's a shame I'm so busy at work otherwise I'd be down there every day. Probably a blessing really as I think they'd get fed up of me. As soon as I get more pics, I'll post them up. In the meantime this is what I'm hoping to achieve..
  6. I worry about anything above 50% humidity with mine, let alone putting it in a swimming pool.
  7. Likewise, think the colours and general look of the car are fantastic but am not 100% about the size of the rear wing. But then I'm just an old git with a JAAAAAG. Oh and glad you managed to get it fixed.
  8. Shell now safely unloaded at the bodyshop. Really looking forward to getting it back in 6 weeks and parts can then actually start going back on it. In the meantime it will give me chance to give the garage a major clean. I can't believe how much mess and dust there is. Thanks again for all the kind comments and for following.
  9. Haha, that was me! Have a look in the " spotted" section, I posted but no one replied. You made me smile when you parked right at the bottom of the car park and kept stopping and looking back at the zed. Glad you posted.
  10. Already thought of that Chris, so got the garage down to 30% humidity and put a load of those moisture absorbing silica bags inside..... OK I admit, I need counselling.
  11. Thinking of taking it up professionally, can't understand where these wrapping companies get their prices from and I bet they don't do the underside as well! 2 rolls of pallet wrap at £8.00 each and 40 minutes labour, job done. The shell goes for paint next week and given that for the last 3 years I've done everything possible to keep even a hint of moisture away from it I had visions of it lashing down (what here in sunny Blighty???) so decided to wrap it in industrial cling film for its journey from the garage to the covered transporter. Not paranoid at all, haha.
  12. After much consideration I've decided to wrap the car rather than paint it. Overall I'm quite pleased with the result. Doesn't look too bad actually with only a few minor imperfections and a lot lot cheaper..... I just need to get a few of the air bubbles out now.
  13. Really coming along now! Always look forward to your posts and pics.
  14. More to do with careful purchases, no bank debt and buying at very bottom of depreciation curves. More luck than anything else with residual values. If I had really been SUPERDUPERBRAIN then I would have bought the Ferrari F355 I was planning on at £37k a two years ago and sold it this year for £60k+. Biggest regret I have made as was so close to buying one. Funnily enough when I sold the 350, I was looking at 997 turbos, gtr or 355. I went to look at one for £35k but ended up buying the E type. I never even thought about appreciation I just didn't want something that was losing £500 a month like the Zed at the time. In some respects I was just very very lucky that the E type is now heading towards the £100k mark. I dread to think how much I've lost though over the years on other cars including a Ferrari. It's been fun though for the most part.

For instance if you've just barbecued a pensioner crossing too close behind you?
  16. Having listened to the videos, it sounds like manifold to cat joint or cat to exhaust. This would perhaps explain why it sounds worse under load as the joint flexes and opens up. All the best getting it sorted whatever it is.
  17. Posted because it made me smile. Parked right at the bottom of the car park well away from other cars locked it up and walked slowly away while repeatedly looking back at it, stopped, looked back again. Obviously his new pride and joy.
  18. My thoughts exactly. If in the highly unlikely event that it was for her, you'd just send one of your minions out to buy it and register it in a Company name.
  19. Wow, sorry to see this Luke. Probably not what you want to hear right now but it does make you think about keeping a good quality fire extinguisher in the car. Following a little incident in the garage I now have FOUR extinguishers. It's frightening just how quickly it takes hold. All the best getting in sorted, I know you are in capable hands.
  20. Clearly with the amount of stuff and projects you have on the go Chris, it's time you looked into outsourcing these,or lack of, updates to a specialist Media and Public Relations Company. That way you will be free to beaver away and more importantly won't have to interface with the smelly unappreciative masses. Haha. Keep up the great work. Edit, pics posted, I take it all back!
  21. And that was 3 days ago! Almost as unreliable as my " updates"!
  22. Brilliant! What were you looking up at in the video?
  23. Looks amazing and love the colour. Congrats!
