    New Car Time

This just started as a few new valve caps....
  2. The sad thing is, the toolbox is just grey epoxy primer, and I was actually thinking of painting it gunmetal but managed to restrain myself.
  3. As others have said, that looks amazing!!
  4. A couple of pics from my visit to the bodyshop today. It's really taking shape now. They still have a few more days on it, then it will be stripped back down and put back on the rotisserie for the underside. And 50 shades of grey Decisions, decisions. The problem is they all look different in natural and artificial light.
  5. I tried to find the build thread but couldn't. Bump it and post a pic! @ Keyser, did Michael Angelo or Leonardo da Vinci stop, take pics and post them on a forum while they were creating masterpieces? No they didn't Thanks for the praise though, recognition from a fellow fabricator.
  6. There is about 1mm clearance on the engine on mine haha and the front half of the car has to come off to fit it. There's a build thread on here, "JAAAAG project" It's been going on for about 4 years now. I did have a Z once, honest
  7. Looking really good. Keep up the great work and look forward to more pics. I have to say, like you I'm looking forward to bolting bits back on but at the same time am worried to death about chipping th paintwork.
  8. Still not much to report, I've been busy with work The bodyshop have had to divert their attention to a racing 911rs that the owner has pranged and needs it back for the Silverstone Classic. To be honest it's done me a favour as I'm still trying to get the garage tidied up. In the meantime another pic for Chris and Doogy.I've made a mobile work station out of bits of steel left over and a surplus bit of beechwood worktop. The drawers are out of a damaged toolbox on E bay and £4 for a couple of decals. Back down at the bodyshop on Monday so hopefully a few more pics.

    New Car Time

Now, now Adrian, you know the forum needs us JAAAAAAG owners to purvey a sense of class and taste. Andy, fantastic looking car, I'm sure you will have hours of fun.
  10. Just Google his mobile number, loads of hits for some guy called Nigel for anything from plumbing services to motor trade, even an ad for staff wanted for a chip shop on Gumtree. Bit more detectivework reveals by zooming in on the photo that the pic was taken on Pickford Lane Bexleyheath outside an address linked to that mobile.
  11. Brilliant! I love watching these, thanks Russ.
  12. Now that's another story! I sent her on holiday for three weeks and built a 3 car garage while she was away. She knew I was building a garage, but I was a bit vague about dimensions, haha. Footings dug and in, double skin block and brick built and roof timber on felted and battened all in three weeks!! Suffice to say she did notice. She didn't speak to me for a month, and at the height of hostilities went to attack it with a sledge hammer! I kid you not and she's only tiny.
  13. Work in progress mate, and all a bit clandestine. You try justifying plastering and painting the garage when the house still isn't finished. She leaves for work 08.15 Friday morning, 60 minute makeover plasterers arrive 08.25 expecting to be in the Pub 2 hrs later while I spend the rest of the day cleaning up! And a little home now for the roll cab...
  14. Not a huge amount to report, just a few pics from today's visit to the bodyshop. Slow progress but the quality of their work is amazing. They have now finished sorting the little bits I'd done that I wasn't happy with mainly on the bonnet. A nice pic of my lowly and humble E type sat between two Ferraris with a combined value of getting on for £1.5 million, lol. The guys that work there are really friendly and down to earth. Apparently some of the customers don't even bother going to look at their cars let alone take biscuits and donuts, haha. In the meantime not to be outdone by Chris, I've been plasterboarding the garage and fitting low energy led panel lights getting ready for her return. I want it like an F1 workshop ready for the rebuild.
  15. Some really nice pics there Will, for some reason this stood out.
  16. Ah, got to be careful with figures plucked out of thin air these days... All in jest Adrian.
  17. Who were we voting for in 1248? As far as I know the first General Election was in the late 1600's.
  18. Does sound very good! Well done, I've really enjoyed your build updates.
  19. I'm surprised you didn't spot the A"M"PR typo. Would be nice but as you say unlikely.
  20. Likewise Graham, sorry to hear about this. Without giving too much away, I've seen the back end and actually quite liked it but was eager to see how that would transpose to the rest of the car. Hope you get it sorted. Depending on how much detail there is and how the pattern falls, I think it could look amazing.
  21. Only you would pick up on that. The mystery sixth piston was tighter than the others for some reason with surface rust to the cylinder bore. So rather than force it, I drowned it in wd and plus gas and took some pics while I was waiting. I hope that clears that up CSI Chris. A "spruce up"!!!??? In up to my neck so it will now be a full rebuild, fully balanced, new competition pistons and con rods, uprated oil pump and the exciting bit, a D type spec big valve head that I have managed to acquire.
  22. If the bonnet to wing gaps are equal and parallel the problem with adjusting it on the hinge is that it will send these gaps out. Unless these panel gaps are wrong I would try as Hugh suggests, adjusting the bumper rather than the bonnet. Getting panel gaps right is a pain and requires patience and lots of small adjustments. Adjusting the bonnet catch will send the front of the bonnet left or right relative to the wings or pull it tighter down to the bumper but potentially at the risk of spoiling the clearance round the lights. Post a pic up of what you have at the moment if you can.
  23. Back to a bit of progress update. As a break from cleaning the garage, I decided to strip the engine down. I'm good at pulling stuff apart, it's just the putting it back together that seems to take a long time What was good is that I found the engine number on the flywheel as well as the crankshaft further backing up the evidence that it is an original matching numbers car. I know it's a bit anoraky but it was a nice find. The internals and crankshaft all seen in good condition and the bearings are original "std" size bearings (pic 3) so plenty of scope for a regrinding if worst comes to the worst. .
  24. My mother every so often reminds us of how my parents first house had an outside toilet. My father apparently in order to avoid going outside in the middle of the night and my mother not wanting him using a pot in the bedroom, had rigged up a piece of guttering from the bedroom window across to the outside toilet. My father's lack of skill erecting this set up or probably being half cut when he did had dire consequences for the the neighbour's washing beneath it.
