  1. I got £5k on a trade-in for this with 90k miles year ago last September which wasn't that great but I thought I would have trouble selling it privately at the time for various reasons. It had black upholstery and was completely standard. Now there's someone in our village with a black one on an 04 plate that hasn't been driven all winter long, just sits outside rotting away. The discs are looking as golden as the seats. Would think about making him an offer if I ever see him but the wife would go ballistic at the idea.
  2. For those of you who only read the forum at work, I'd thought I'd bump this again. Seems to good to waste;.
  3. Imho Scotland: Is stunningly beautiful if the weather is nice Is outrageously expensive for hotels Has roads which are narrow, rough, humped with narrow bridges and full of sheep and or caravans and where they're none of the above, don't offer a challenge at speeds below 80mph. The first time I went I think you could get super unleaded at Ullapool and then again at Inverness. In 2014 you could get it at Kyle of Lochalsh. And Wendy, I think you might find it better to go to the Black Forest from Banbury. Much better roads of all types in a very confined area. You could easily enjoy a week's driving there and it may be even closer than Scotland for you.
  4. Well, you might get on a club tour to Monte Carlo in April that I joined. I'm not sure how they are for numbers at this late date. Also a couple of us are thinking of either the Pyrenees or the Black Forest in September. PM me if interested.
  5. Not really, these engines don't respond hugely well to much tuning short of a supercharger kit (£7K, and yes I've already looked!). With breathing mods and a remap you might get an extra 40bhp, but that's about your lot. I think I'll do exhaust for some noise, springs for some stiffness, Dension for some iPod, and then maybe ARBs as well. It has the comfort seats in, so I may swap them for the sport seats (adds lumbar control) if I can find a set at the right price. Really the modding budget is going on the MR2 though, I want to try and keep this vaguely normal. UUuuummm, didn't spot anything here about clutch, flywheel and brakes.
  6. Yeah, I was thinking this. Probably would have been better to get the car checked out and driven by a professional mechanic before handing over the loot.
  7. Do you mean this A82? If so, then no. I have done the Duke's pass when going up this way. Imho, it's probably the most interesting road in Scotland where you can push hard without breaking the speed limit too much.
  8. I'm just working on the last road trip plan for September which will either be the second trip to the Pyrenees or the Black Forest. Kicking off in April with a week club tour to Monte Carlo May, a trip to Scotland to visit friends but taking the family car as the roads up there are nothing exciting. June, a two week trip to the Pyrenees.
  9. Finally. Some people on this forum who actually want to drive their cars further than the North Wales meet! Will wonders ever cease.
  10. The more I see this forum, the more chav like it becomes.
  11. Ok, when. I'm getting so excited.
  12. ...maybe but considering you've been there and done that for several years, you may be aware that on the spot speeding fines or even confiscation of cars apply in countries like France and Switzerland. Generally 150 miles a day translates into 4.5 to 5.5 hours driving and if you prefer not to munch your dinner between shifting gears nor do petrol stops like race refuelling, you may find it takes closer to 7/8 hours on mountain roads
  13. I think the op might be a little ambitious on his mileage calculations. In my experience 150 miles a day usually translates into about 5.5 hours in mountainous regions and that's before you add on petrol stops, food stops, pee stops, photo shoots and getting lost.which always seems to add up to about 8 hours. As for hotel costs, if you want to keep them down you can choose Travelodge type hotels like Ibis, Campanile, Premiere Classe which are usually in the £35 to £60 range. I usually find hotels on Booking.com using the filtres I want and then check out the hotels themselves on Trip Advisor. If you want pretentious hotels though I'm sure you can find them for £90.
  14. My plan is to have 3 lots of rest days, one on the Mediterranean, one near Beiscas, and one to be decided (probably in the Picos de Europa). Return ferry is booked on the Etretat with reclining chair departing 20th June and returning 5th July. I'm currently in the middle of booking hotels. Both ferry and hotels are alterable but I wouldn't do it without firm committment. Here is a video from my trip last year just to whet your appetite. If interested, pm me for further details
  15. Would suit a pensioner. https://www.google.c...75!3e0?hl=en-GB Late June, 2015
  16. I used to see a blue one parked in the airport park & ride in the area reserved for the bank that very nearly broke the country.
  17. You guys are on the wrong forum. Still you wouldn't have to have a tracker fitted or worry about having your car vandalised. Bit like having an old Land Rover and going into Morrisons.
  18. You don't, clearly, so no. That's right. Something much better.
  19. Doesn't everyone have a BMW or a Porker?? They're so boring.
  20. That was November. You got one now?
  21. What happened to this? http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/79212-new-date-italy-stelvio-pass-2015-inc-price-and-dates/
  22. Shame the bottom seems to have dropped out of this one but a couple of us have planned two weeks in the Pyrenees and northwest Spain at the end of June beginning of July if anyone is interested in joining. I would point out, though, that we are old. Personally, I believe the Pyrenees is one of the best; good roads, less traffic and few police.
  23. Just finished the Andermatt Loop and back in Germany for a couple of days prior to heading back to the UK via. the Vosge region of France. Weather has been generally fantastic. Report and pictures to follow when I get back.
