  1. I'm on my way back now. Hotel in Ainsa. One more overnight then Bilbao. It's been as good as ever. And Alonso's museum
  2. Two weeks driving great roads in the Pyrenees and Picos areas of Spain. Looking forard.
  3. Before I opened the thread I knew it would feature a Pork. That's why I stopped my subscription.
  4. Twenty two percent of GTR owners have re-mapped their cars to give around 560 hp and a further twenty eight percent have theirs re-mapped to give 650 hp so in the real world....
  5. I'd be interested in hearing about this as I am considering a similar trip in 2017. I would like to know about the state of the roads, hotel prices, and language problems if any.
  6. Day 12 tomorrow. Only 10 more left. Heading up to a border town north of Pamplona from Vielha on some of the most iconic and stunning roads in the Pyrenees and possibly some of the best in Europe.
  7. Watched the 3rd round of the Blancpain series at Circuit du Castellet yesterday. Fantastic result for Nissan finishing 5th out of 54 starters leaving behind a whole slew of so called super cars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Aston Martins, Audis and some Mclarens. Made my day. And a view
  8. In the heart of the Tarn region near Clermont l'Herault today. Although there have been some rough roads on the French side of the Pyrenees, the ones today were brilliant. Billiard table smooth; some with fast flowing bends and others tight and twisty.
  9. Day 1 Following the coast up to Biarritz from Bilbao then turning inland to destination at St.Jean le Vieux for the French leg of the Pyrenees tour.
  10. On Brittany Ferries at the moment. Passed the Pointe de Roscoff about 2 hours ago. Scheduled arrival in Santander tomorrow is 14:15
  11. Spain/Portugal - June/July France - September Black Forest - October
  12. Spotted yesterday queue jumping exiting the A14 onto the A11, grey 350, personal reg begiinng with C, exiting onto A11 initialy, then jumping into the A1303 lane and overtaking about 7 cars before bulldozing back into the A11 lane. Hope he's not on this forum. Gives everyone else a bad name.
  13. I finally decided to scrap ideas for southern Spain as it looked difficult to put together consistently good roads and find hotels with character and charm that also had secure and accessible parking. So, back to the Pyrenees, France and green Spain. 3 weeks and two days with 3 layovers and taking in the Blancpain race at Paul Ricard. Here's the route. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z1ahuj2hTEPI.kh8oRsg_Z_ek&usp=sharing
  14. This is sort of a bump as I'm getting some good ideas from 370ZRDevon but here is my route map so far. I have done Green Spain to La Coruna, Santiago de Campostela and Oporto plus the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa 3 times so I'm really looking for some good info for a bit further south. I prefer to avoid the Costas and Gibraltar though. https://www.google.c...FwQ&usp=sharing
  15. Brilliant idea, but I don't think he would come in my car.
  16. I'm planning to do a trip to Spain in June and am looking for some advice, particularly the southern bit. I know my old friend Dan has done this so please fire away. Routes, towns, hotels, things to see all mucho appreciated.
  17. Uh oh, docwra, somebody's got to hear about it on the other side. http://www.gtr.co.uk...tml#post4405105
  18. Fourteen, yes 14 well argued responses on this thread from my old friend, the...
  19. Nearly.....but not quite. Cayman S GT4 4.4 secs. 0-62 Top speed 174mph GTR 2.8 secs. 0-62 Top speed 196mph Source. Evo Magazine. PS. I do quite like the design of the Caymans. Makes a nice departure from the toad like appearance of the rest of the range.
  20. Most cameras that I found offer the same or similar performance. So I would look for one that videoed at a higher speed. There are some that will do 60fps and are worth having for picture quality if that is important to you.
  21. Sorry, but thats a ridiculous statement - even from the cars mentioned in this thread an M6, Maserati, 911 and a Mustang are all totally different experiences, even my current 4 seater is capable of performance very similar to a GTR but delivers it in a totally different way. You dont have to drive everywhere at 10/10ths either ......... which is where the GTR falls down for me, its doesnt feel special when doing 45 mph like a Maserati does. ^^^This, in bucketloads. Anyone who thinks that having driven a fast car makes other cars seem rubbish is talking bobbins. The F12 is about as fast a road car as you're likely to reasonably have a chance of driving, and I can promise you that in no way do I feel hard done by when I drive our 182 now. In fact, there's many times I'd rather take the 182 than either my 645 or my old 911, despite being nowhere near as fast. I know, that's not exactly what you were saying and I've exaggerated the point for effect so I apologise for that, but the point stands. The AMV8 just looks dated to me now. The Maser is still a head turner, and has a Ferrari V8. Given they're both fragile things, and neither are cutting edge in terms of dynamics, I couldn't look further than the Maser. Yeah, I know what you mean. There are times when I'd rather drive my Peugeot 207 than a GTR. For those who think it's ugly, it turned more heads this summer in Europe than Astons and a Porsche it accompanied. Not an empirical fact just an observation.
  22. Yes, I'm sure it will be really pretty.
  23. "Well I like my cigar but I take it out every now and again" in answer to a couple with 4 kids on a live Groucho Marx tv show in 1960's America.
