  1. The car I have HPI checked is a VW and that is the one that seemingly has an outstanding finance agreement on it. Alert Details VW Golf Plate Transfer A private plate was applied to this vehicle on 27/07/2005 The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 29/06/2007 This VRM has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement An outstanding finance agreement was recorded on 09/03/2011 against a JAGUAR (not the car in question) Current keeper acquired on 07-Mar-2011 Four questions: •How can I find out more about this existing finance agreement? •What would normally be done about it ie. Would I pay off the finance company and give the balance to the owner? •What does the agreement on the Jaguar 2 days later have to do with the VW? •Should I avoid the purchase? The HPI check has not been fully completed with all the information they require. Thanks in advance for your help.
  2. I feel guilty now for wanting to dump the KA shed. Nothing wrong with it. No rust where it matters. Gearbox and engine perfect as is the suspension but..... it's a KA Maybe one day a tree limb will fall on it and the insurers will write it off
  3. +1 I had a new set of Vreds on and almost immediately got a nail in the O/S rear. Had it plugged over a year ago and no problem. (Touch wood).
  4. Or not at all http://www.youtube.com/user/TomTomOffic ... Bspo&Lid=1

  7. I've reported Sandersons Coaches of Norfolk to their head office for driving in the oncoming lane before. Today, one came round a corner and pulled out to go past parked cars putting a good third of the coach's width in my lane when I was already there.
  8. Problem is, it seems to be the only car that comes close to qualifying as a "sports car" with 4 useable seats. Well GTR aside. The rest seem to be more GT cars. And a lot more expensive.
  9. Don't seem to hear of or see many of these around. The few that are for sale seem to sell very slowly. Is there something wrong with them? They seem to be so much more practical ie. rear seats and big boot than ordinary Zeds with very much the same performance.
  10. Thanks for the suggestions to everyone. I should have said there is only the OH and me. I have had a look at the Audi A3 TDI Sline and that looks really good to me so thanks for that.
  11. I've narrowed it down to 3: A Ford Focus ST (possibly too flashy) A Ford Focus 2.0 TDci A VW GT TDI 170 I want something that is engaging to drive but that the wife (definitely not a petrolhead) would be comfortable driving in. Any comments/suggestions much appreciated but I must say I'm not a lover of BMWs.
  12. I went to one of those car supermarkets yesterday to check out a couple of cars and in the end I asked if we could take one of them for a test drive. He said sure I could drive it - he just needed to see my license. I then asked him about insurance. Would I be covered under their policy if the worst happened? He refused to answer that question but just tried to assure me that his company sold 30,000 cars a week and not to worry about it. I was about to walk away from it all when he ungraciously offered to drive it around the block which he did. Maybe some of his cars "sold" per week fall into the "you broke it, you bought it" category. I remember when I went to buy the Zed; before the buyer would let me test drive it, I had to hand over the banker's draft - just in case. Partial good move on his part, but as he was still the owner of the car, I'm not sure where he would have stood for 3rd party claims. Unless you are buying from a garage/dealer that has insurance for anyone to drive, maybe it would be better to excercise caution in order to avoid a "Judge Judy" moment.
  13. I've decided that I probably do really need a car with an extra 2 seats but would also like one that looks unique / nice and performs reasonably well and doesn't cost a fortune ie. <£15k. The two I'm looking at are: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p or this: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3216165.htm Any thoughts welcome
  14. I don't know whether anyone saw this thread on Pistonheads but I thought it makes quite and interesting read esp. this particular one: FisiP1 128 posts 3 months [report] [news] Yesterday (15:38) For me its: Tacky feel and look to the interior compared to German rivals, and in my opinion even compared to a lot of modern American cars. reasonably powerful in stock format, but high insurance(for me at 22, more than double my Porsche and GT500, combined). Questionable image in my eyes, too close to the 'gone in 60 seconds' image which simply isn't me. Too distinct from the GT-R to sense any sort of brand connection between them. Strong secondhand residuals not representative of what you are getting compared to too many other cars(TT, Cayman, Boxster, M3, etc etc). 350Z seems dated 'mod fodder' at this stage, concerns of its brother going the same way rapidly. My mates seem to think they both(370, 350) have a very feminine image. If you like them and enjoy them more power to you, but just not for me. Full thread is: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... mid=247600
  15. To be honest, I've been thinking along the same lines as you. I bought a Zed 14 months ago thinking 2 seats were fine as there was only ever me and my wife. But since then, there seems to have been a litany of trips when we had other people to carry or had to go to Brussels or the north of England and had to take the KA I tried to talk her into swapping the KA for a nice Peugeot 406 coupe I spotted once, but no luck. I'm reluctant to put the Zed on the market though because mechanically it's in perfect condition and bodywise it only has a couple of pin dents in the doors and a very few stone chips on the front. And although, on paper the Skyline might be better for me, it could also be someone else's piece of junk so for the time being.... But if I was definitely going to sell, I would go for a Skyline 350GT
  16. I had exactly the same problem. Got a slave and braided hose from Zmanalex and problem solved. My independent said 9 times out of 10, it's the slave, and happily in my case, it was.
  17. Mine is not officially up for sale but if someone wanted to buy it off me pretty sharpish before the Silverline I want disappears, we might be able to cut a deal. PM me if you're interested for all the details. It's an 05 plate with 80k on the clock and is in very good condition all round.
  18. Does anyone know anything about the Nissan Skyline Gt35? It looks like a grown-up Z.
  19. Bit to long though http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default ... ryId=24386
  20. After a longish run, the Z gets rather warm inside even when it's mild outside and I occasionally have to put the air con on. Transmission tunnel is especially warm. Is this normal?
  21. On two occasions my clutch pedal has become really "loose" between the full out position and where it begins to take up on the pressure plate. 99% of the time it's firm down to the floor. The couple of times when it did become loose were when it was a hot day and the engine compartment would have been particulary hot. I was thinking the fluid might be vaporising. But my local independent suggested it could be seals on the master or slave cylinders and to check the colour of the fluid which I did. It's sort of light brown. Any ideas? And if it's seals, are there kits available to rebuild them?
  22. How about people who enter motorways from slip roads at 40mph or so as though they had every right, causing everyone else to slow down and change lanes? I thought the purpose of slip roads was to match, as near as possible the speed of the motorway traffic. And incidentally, doesn't the dotted white line separating the motorway and slip road mean "give way"?
  23. My Honda Jazz owning wife just tried to break my screen Neither she nor I in our sixities drive in that fashion although we similarly get irritated by such drivers, of all ages and in a wide range of cars. When I drive the Jazz I tend to get to get the look as I overtake - bloody hell, didn't know those things could do that Ok try Nissan Micras doing 15 mph less than the speed limit and a few coming the opposite direction so there's no chance of overtaking. +1 to Railgun
  24. Or this? http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=162&i=23950
